Title: Thats right its a Virus Alert
Post by: KingIsaacLinksr on January 31, 2008, 10:39:17 PM
"delete immediately before someone gets hurt...Bury your computer and cover with rocks."  Sounds like Weird Al might have been on to something...

In Part 2 of Kinglinksr's computer troubles, the computer seems to be stable.  However, my roommate alerted me that his computer was starting to have issues with a different external that he had used before.  (Keeping in mind that he had just connected to my external hardrive just previously).  So our guess is that a virus got transmitted from my computer to his.  Using AVG Free Edition, I found a several many worms infecting my computer.  It is still going but I think its found all that its going to find.  His computer found two Trojans in his computer.  Fun eh?  We're going to keep working on this, but this annoys me more than anything because I don't need to deal with this....but I'm keeping my head up and forging through.

In other news, I purchased a ultra-quiet Zulman notebook cooler.  Has been working like a charm and my notebook hasn't been overheating/having troubles.  Except for viruses..../sigh.

So yea, those who wanted to know, viruses SUCK.  But you knew that.  In addition to AVG, I'm thinking of getting Window's Defender.  My roommate uses it and it seems to work for him, but I'm not sure.

It must not work too well Tim he was infected too! It certainly won't hurt to have Defender. I use Defender and McAfee and I have both scheduled to run once a week late at night while I'm sleeping. I have never had a virus infection that took my PC down since using them both and keeping them updated.

Lets keep in mind, we THINK it was a virus that caused the trouble, but we're not 100% positive.  Granted, he did detect some stuff.
