Since we are having so much fun with SciFi and Fantasy TV series Game I thought I would start another thread for Cartoons TV Series only.
I'll start off simple for the first one.
Captain CAVEMANNNNNNNNN!!!!!!
LOL.. you got it Rick...
Here is a fun one.
Hong Kong Phooey!! Scatman Cruthers was the best man!!!!
Duffster
I used to like this one.
Deputy Dawg? I'm a little hazy...
That's correct!!!
Ok this one is too easy but I couldn't help it.
Thundercats ??
Try this one!!!
Snorks
Yep.. that's it Kevin
Thanks for starting this one Kenny! I LOVE CARTOONS! I was having a little trouble finding a pic I liked. Sorry for the small delay!
Kevin
And I thought I watch too much TV -- I only knew Thundercats.
hmmm this look familiar.. but I can't place it.
I guess I'll have to give a clue. It's a Hanna Barbera Production.
Kevin
Top Cat?
Nope
Ktrek.. we need more of a hint.. I'm guess no one knows the cartoon.
I don't know how I can give a stronger hint than showing a picture with the two main characters of the show in it? However, I will mention that this was Hanna Barbera's very first animated TV show in the 1950's. They had animated other characters prior such as Tom and Jerry for Warner Brothers but this show was really their first TV effort.
Kevin
Okay.. that hint helped.. it's The Ruff and Reddy Show
I got it. "Ruff and Ready" A lesser known creation of Hanna Barbera. I didn't realise it was so old though. We have a channel over here that is dedicated almost entirely to Hanna Barbera. Haven't seen this one in a while though.
Oh balls. :(
Kenny, May I?
sure
Thanks Mate, honestly, your post went up as I was writing mine. I was warned as I clicked "post" but took the risk that It hadn't been guessed.
Anyway, this is a show from my childhood that I loved and I think most of that was down to the fabulous theme tune. Very nice,
You got me trekkygeek. It's not some really old anime is it?
I think we need a clue Tim.
Well, it was first aired in 1982 and was a French/Japanese collaboration. And, if one is to believe the rumors, the animation was overseen by none other than the legendary Hayao Miyazaki himself (of Totoro and NausicaA fame). It was also only originally meant to be aired in France.
That should be enough to go on, even Google should be able to help now ;)
Is it Mysterious Cities of Gold ??
Here's one of my favorites..
I love Eek! The Cat Kenny! Remember Mittens?
Yes I loved that cartoon... you got it Pepperdude.. now lets see if you can stump us with one.
Trekkygeek, I remember one cartoon with a French and Japanese connection--it was called Remi but I watched it in Spanish when I was a little kid. I always forget the French and English titles though. It's about a little boy who is sold by his alcoholic father to a "traveling entertainer." Then the little boy begans his long journey looking for his mother. The anime was based on a book written by a French author. So is that it?
Here's a picture of a very cool cartoon:

I already answered that one Pepperdude :) It was called The Mysterious Cities of Gold
Cool.
Is that DragonBall z PepperDude?
That's what I was going to say.. but I'm not sure.
I am confident that is right.
On the asumption that I am right, I will post the next one. Doesn't hurt to have two to be guessed anyway!
oh man... I know this one... what is it's name... I hate getting old :)
Well the clue is early 60's
hmmm maybe I don't know this one.. that was well before my time. Maybe I saw it in reruns.
I vaguely recognize the civil war bear guy.
It's Hoppity Hooper
Here's one that I use to watch all the time.
Is it Wacky Races?
Kevin
Wow.. I thought it would take at least a few minutes before someone got it.... good job Kevin.
Great! Here's one for ya!
Kevin
I know this one.. but I'll let someone else guess it. :)
It's The Partridge Family 2200 AD. Tough one mate
Okay, heres an easy one.
One from my early childhood
An early anime version of Jesus Christ Superstar?!
;D Nice try Jen, but, I'm afraid, no
I was going to say Greatest Adventures: Stories From The Bible as it looks a little like Hanna Barbera's work on that series.
Kevin
Yeah he looks like Space Jesus to me.

Okay, heres an easy one.
One from my early childhood
Guess this one wasn't so easy Tim.. :) can we get some clues?
Sure Kenny, a couple of clues should help with research. It was a French anime from the early 80's and is based upon Homer's ancient story of the journey Odysseus. And the theme tune rocked. I really thought this would be easy, perhaps they didn't show it in the States. :)
Yep.. that was enough info.. it's called Ulysses 31
I had never heard of this series.. but that doesn't mean it never aired in the US.
This should be a simple one.. use to watch this when I was a kid all the time.
Ahh Ulysses 31, a true classic.
Not sure on this one, was it ever shown in the UK do you know?
Quote from: Doraz the loon on January 05, 2008, 12:36:07 PM
Not sure on this one, was it ever shown in the UK do you know?
I don't know if it was ever shown in the UK.. I know it was made in the US and is based on a series of books of the same name.
Errmmm - the pointy eared people of pointy land? :)
If it was ever shown in the UK it was before or after my time.
But it looks so familiar Doraz, I'm sure I've seen it over here. Damned if I can place it though
Hmmm
Looks like one of them cheapo cartoons that they dubbed into 3000000 languages and sold around the world.
Really dont have a clue though, sort of reminds me of 'The Happy Elves meet Mr Snuggle Duck' from the Simpsons... ;D
I think it's The Littles. Am I right?
Yep.. you got it alving... The Littles
Your turn...
This one should be pretty easy.
Oh I know this one.. I'll see if anyone else has a guess.
The Hurculoids!
How about this little gem?
Isn't that Desslok from 宇宙戦艦ヤマト, a.k.a. Space Battleship Yamato, a.k.a. Star Blazers?
Hey, no cheating translating Japanese! ;)
Quote from: Bryancd on January 06, 2008, 06:11:55 AM

LOL I Recognized Desslok before I noticed the text in the picture; I'm a fan of Japanese animation. :)
Here's a cartoon that was re-edited and dubbed for release in the U.S. when I was a kid; it was a favorite of mine:
It looks like "Battle Of The Planets"
Good guess, but it isn't Battle Of The Planets.
Clue-
The series is loosely based on a classical Chinese literary work called Journey To The West, which tells the story of a Buddhist monk's pilgrimage to India during the Táng dynasty.
I got it... Starzinger
I never heard of it.. but then again I really don't like anime.
Let's try this one!!
Ooh... That's Grape Ape. The Grape Ape Show?
Man that was fast... you got it.
How's this?
I haven't a clue.. is that a blue horse with an 80's Rocker hairstyle :)
It's a horrible cartoon... I hated it as a kid. I'll give you a hint. The word "star" is in the title.
The Grape Ape Themesong....
http://www.christrocks.com/forum/grapeape.wav (http://www.christrocks.com/forum/grapeape.wav)
Grape Ape sounds a lot like Twiki from Buck Rogers... hmmmm. :)
I'm thinking I stumped you guys... Still no answer? Need another hint?
I remember this show...has something to do with the Lone Ranger in space or something.
Yeah dang it I remember this cartoon....oh what the heck is the name....something like Silver Star or Star Hawk or......
EDIT: No wait I got it (I think).....Is it Brave Star? As soon as i posted the irst time I remembered...hopefully
Yep. Bravestar. Crappiest cartoon ever made.
Yeah it definitely ranks right up (or down) there.
Ok sweet I got it so here is mine....I had two and think I picked the easier of the two but who knows.
Anyone? Hopefully no one here can read Kanji or Katakana(which I think is what is printed there...I dunno)
I actually had this toy(s) as a kid and I loved it.
Voltron?
Off the top of my head I thought it was Tranzor Z but he didn't have car feet.
Jen is correct....it is the little played(and IMO better) vehicle version of Voltron...at least that is what the cartoon said. BTW Jen I wanted to say I loved your and Angela's version of the Enterprise theme. I think I was laughing because you ladies were lauging so hard...just great.
Billybob...funny you guessed Tranzor Z...that was the other picture I was considering posting.
Not sure why, I think it was the head that made me think Tranzor Z. I only ever watched the Lion version of Voltron.
Is this what you were thinking of Billybob?
I actually remember this cartoon from my childhood in Japan.

Thanks Darth. We couldn't stop laughing... we love the theme song but it is so over the top. It was fun to mock.
Someone else go... I just posted a cartoon yesterday. Billybob... Do you want to go next?
Sure. Gimme a minute.
Here we go, shouldn't be too hard, and yeah Darth that was the one I was thinking of!
I think I know this one... but I will hold off.
That cartoon looks very familiar. . .I can't remember. . .
Dino Riders?

Man, I loved Tranzor- Z as a kid; it was one of the things that led to my eventual anime fandom. Remember this?-
At my university's anime club, I got introduced to the non-altered version-
I actually still like Mazinger-Z. ;D
Can I do the next one?
It's up to Wraith since he got the last picture, but I don't see why not.. Wraith is a nice guy.
I will wait, he can kill me with his hand :D (stargate atlantis refernce)

LOL  It's OK, Darkmolerman, I'm trying to cut back on the use of the wraith-ly powers.
Go ahead, you do the next one. :)
Yay! here is this one sorry Can't find big enough pic. This is the most spoiler free one but its still a bit spoilerific!
That's looks X menish.. is it X Men Evolution?
No but it was around that time, look in the background it may help....
There was a Stargate cartoon?
was or was there not yoda says now who can google fast enough...
If I'm right someone else can take the next run, I need to be on a plane again shortly.
Okay... here is an oldie but goodie
Is that teen wolf the animated series?
that's a good guess.. it's a wrong guess.. but good :)
Oh, I remember this one but don't remember the name.
Oh, hey, 900th post!
Is it.... Could it be... Fangface> Or something like that. He used to change into this creature at the sight of a full moon. His friends could even show him a picture and it would work..
This might stump a few. Take no notice of the background, just the character. The background seems to be a lot more modern, unless they are making new episodes of this show from my childhood
The Flintstones
Yeah the background is Flintstones.. but I don't the creature is.. I do remember this.. but can't think of his name.
They always had weird "guest" characters on the show... Remember the annoying alien? And I think for a while the Adams family lived next door. :D
Isn't that character from Herculoids?
Is it the Great Gazoo or something like that...I seem to remember this character but....

Oh yeah !! The Ghoulies or something like that ?
It's Schmoo. :)
Schmoo....that's right....I knew it ended in "oo"
Is Schmoo the name of the show or the name of the character?
Both, kind of. Kenny was right, there were two Schmoos in "The Hurculoids". There was also a cartoon series called "The Incredible New Schmoo".
I really like this old cartoon. Guess.
That looks like Top Cat
gosh Kenny! You must like Top Cat :)
Here's another one.
Oh I know this on too.. can't remember the name.
Here's a hint: They're pirates.
Pirates of Dark Water!
Man I knew that would be giving away too much info! :'( Oh well. :D I liked that cartoon. It's too bad it was never completed.
Here's another short lived cartoon that i really enjoyed. Cool use of mid-90's CGI.
BattleTech?
correct sir. I hate the fact they ended the first season on a cliffhanger and then didn't get picked up for season 2.
I always wanted to check out the show, but I never got the chance. I was a huge fan of the BattleTech and MechWarrior books, though.
Name this one-
(http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t91/wraith1702/wha.jpg)
Oh god I remember this show! His guitar was a weapon too right? And his name was Tex or something and he was part of a team.

Yep; all of that is correct. What is the name of the cartoon?
Ha ha if only I could remember!
Two words, second word is "Hawks". 8)
Was it called "Silver Hawks" or something like that?
Wasn't called Thunderhawks? I used to like this cartoon too.
No I'm pretty sure it's Silverhawks.
Quote from: Darth Gaos on January 14, 2008, 12:40:01 PM

Correct!
Has this game ran it's course?? Anyone want to post the next cartoon picture?
Try this one:
Jonny Quest?
No. This is another picture. I don't want to show too much because I think it'll be too easy. I also have problems finding good pictures online.
oh I did this one.. it's The Littles
Shucks. I didn't notice that. Yeah.
Okay I have something for you guys to figure out....
http://www.fortunecity.com/rivendell/suikoden/1134/19(1).jpg
Wing Zero Custom from Gundam Wing. :)
***EDIT***
Also, Hero, Trowa, Wufei, Duo and Quatre.
