Here's a little bit of Harlan Ellison (one of my heroes) ranting about getting paid for an interview he did that someone wanted to put on a DVD. He really tells it like it is. Warning: there is some strong language in this clip. Just wanted to let you know.

HAHAHAHHAHAH god I love Harlan.
I hope I'm still that feisty at his age. :)
If anyone hasn't read "the Essential Ellison" drop whatever you are doing and track it down now. It's my all time favorite Sci Fi short stories all in one collection. What a great book!
"City on the Edge of......F-U!"
:roflmao
:roflmao That was too funny! He does make very good points. However, I read an interesting article in Asimov's where aspiring writers and even well-known professionals are giving away some of their work online. James Patrick Kelly credits winning this year's Nebula for his novella, Burn, because he distributed it for free through his podcast. A small press also gave his novella a small press print run.http://www.asimovs.com/_issue_0710/Onthenet.shtml (http://www.asimovs.com/_issue_0710/Onthenet.shtml) And Mr. Kelly is no lightweight in sci-fi writing.
Jobydrone, I've been thinking about getting an Ellison short story collection from SFBC. I might do it in a few months.
Hmmmm...maybe we should back off that idea of submitting scripts because of the strike. Harlan might shove his foot so far up my a** he can wear me as a shoe. That last sentence is credited to Tom "Biff" Wilson.
Think he got paid for that?
Just found a great short on Harlan and the inspiration for the Terminator franchise. He's got a pretty good attitude for someone who basically got hosed out of his rightful share of the hundreds of millions of dollars that came from that series. Check it out:
