Title: PODCAST # 150!
Post by: Rico on November 25, 2007, 03:41:32 AM
Well, many of you know I preview released the videocast last night for show # 150.  It's officially out there now in the feeds on iTunes, etc.  (hint - now would be a great time to put up a vote on Podcast Alley for the show or a review on iTunes).  I hope you all get as much of a kick out of watching this show as I did putting it together.  Took literally days to do.  But I learned a lot and had a blast.  I was enjoying finding new ways to embarrass myself!  LOL!  :roflmao

Now I really want a new, better camcorder and really get into more video!  So I guess you can expect more in the future.  I'm going to try to encode a larger format size of the show sometime in the next couple of days (640x480).  But the file size on that one will be huge!  It will be only linked here for forum members - if you want it.  So tell me your thoughts on the video.  I could of played and edited it for days (now I know how Lucas feels about tweaking things - forever).

And once again - a BIG thanks to everyone that did some video and sent it in for this special show.  You folks are the best!

Great job Rico! A big congratulations and high five on Podcast 150!

Just watched and was great to see eveyone having so much fun!

Also am so impressed with the collections shown.

Thanks so much for including my short video.

The podcast was great. The only thing I regret was that it was so short.

WOW!  That was so awesome!  How fun!

Everyone did a great job on the videos.  I can't say enough about it.  It was so great!

Rico- you are a man of many talents.  Nice dancing!

I think what I liked so much about it was seeing the faces and hearing the voices at the same time of all of my friends.  It was great.

Thanks again for all of your time and effort.

Davekill....  cool backwards effect...  Kenny, great job on the toy room, Jeff.. it was so cool to see you and look at all your cool stuff, King.. or um.. TIMOTHY!  Nice. I liked your music by Michael W.   Jen and Angela, you outdid yourselves, that was so cool.  It was nice to see and hear our friend  Ricardo from Brazil...  Rob's was cool... It was nice to see Eric again... we hear him at the end of the podcast each week... Nice Tribble interview.   Vartock.... wow.. hairy aliens...

Boxing Rico?  yes!

hey Brian it was good to meet you!

Very cool Rico... thanks again for the opportunity.

We really have to plan a big get together someday.  It sure would be fun to meet everyone in person.

I can't believe how fast it went!  You know it's good when it goes so fast.

In the words of Kip.. Peace Out.

LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT

I was able to watch the sneak preview yesterday and I was laughing out loud. Everyone did a fantastic job on there videos. And Rico you are a STAR. I loved your previous show ideas, especially Treks in Boxing and Treks in Dancing. And I really enjoyed the bloopers as I know how many takes it took me to get my video just right.

Awesome job Rico on show 150... here's to many many more.  :cheers

I've watched the big 150 three times now - that makes it a "feature film"!

Thanks for all of the hard work. You're a really good host.

tech notes:
I used a Sony VX2100 video cam, 2 silver umbrellas for fill lighting,  a homemade bluescreen and Adobe Premiere

If I could make it over again:
A boom mic, screen captions and FX, no shoes (clomp clomp) and more time.

Glad you are all liking me being goofy and silly!  Hehe!  (Oh - just so you know, I can actually hit that heavy bag pretty well.  It helps after a rough work day.  But alas, I'm not much of a dancer.)

Rico, that was FRACKIN' AWESOME!!!!
To all the video contributors, my hat's off to you all, you all did exceptional stuff. Kenny, loved your collection tour, great to see the Moyer boy's and pet's, and Angela and Jen, could you two be any more cute?! Everyone, just a great job and if Rico does this again, I am inspired to try and put a contribution together as well.
Rico, I don't know what to say except you bring a lot of fun and happiness into all our lives with this virtual community you have established and your podcast. Watching you in this video made me really feel like I know you, all of you, and it warms my heart. The image of Rico working the heavy bag in a wife beater T-shirt was a riot, only to be eclipsed by seeing him dance, an image so horrible it will haunt my days to come! Also, loved the tribble interview!
I'm so proud to be a part of the Treks in Sci Fi family. :)

That was an excellent show Rico! I, like Bryan, am now inspired to contribute to the show (most probably a video when you do another one in the future). I was laughing and chuckling throughout most of the video. Thanks to everyone who contributed. All of you, the other forum members and Rico make this a very special community--family.  :biggrin  I'm grateful for having found you great group of people.

There is nothing I could say other than TOTALLY FREAKING AWESOME!!!!  This is the BEST show I've ever seen, of course I helped ;).  My hats off to Rico and those who contributed.  I will say, I'm scarred by Rico's attempt at dancing.  I'm afraid you just can't man.  But neither can I so we're in the same boat.  I'm glad that I had a chance to reveal my name in this way as it was the best way I could have.

Rick M, your cats make me jealous cause I have no pets right now.  /cry.  :'( :'(
Kenny, I'm not sure whether to call you insane or worship the ground you walk.  Your collection is HUGE.
Rico, your interview with the tribble made me laugh till it hurt.  It was so hilarious.
All of you did a great job.  I especially loved the intro.  It warmed my heart and made me laugh.  This is such a great podcast #150 that I'm going to watch it again in my dorm with actual speakers.  (Watched on laptop while traveling back to dorm rooms from thanksgiving) Oh and when you make it big, no, the quality is not great, but otherwise I'll live with it.

I just want to say I love (friendly love not...love love) each and every member here in the Treks In Sci Fi Forums.  As I said in the podcast, YOU, AND ONLY YOU guys are the reason it is special and why I keep coming back to participate, bug, share opinions, and interact.  I'm glad that an IPod Nano opened me to a new world of Trekkie goodness and friends.  Seems apple did something right.  hee hee.

So as they say in the Trek universe:

Live Long and PROSPER.  LETS SEE 150 MORE PODCASTS!  3 CHEERS FOR RICO!!!!!

:cheers :cheers :cheers :dstar :metallica: :happybday :starwars: :cheering

Seriously; really great podcast!  Each and every submission was entertaining, and I actually laughed out loud at the "treks in dancing" bit. You've got a great sense of humor, Rico!

Thanks Rico and all of you guys for contributing to an awesome podcast!  ;D ;D ;D

I salute you all.

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!

I just watched the podcast. I watched it through itunes on my laptop screen as my video ipod just wouldn't do it justice.. and I am so glad I did!

I absolutely loved this show.

It really showcases the wonderful skills and creativity of Rico and so many contributors to the show such as Kenny, the gorgeous Jen and Angela, the always fantastic Moyers, Jedi Jeff and all the rest....

I enjoyed the humour, effects, comments, views into members lives (and Rico!) collections and so on. It was very uplifting for me and I had a big smile watching it.

I don't normally get to spend time on the forums like I used to.. but I listen to the podcast advidly each week.. it really helps me pass the time when I need it.

I posted a voicemail to Rico that he might include in a future show hopefully basically saying the same thing - but you get to hear me giddy with excitement having just finished watching.. so I guess I sound like even more of a dork... and sorry to the Moyers but I have an Australian accent... not British at all... but is it close enough for you guys??? :)

Thank you SO much to Rico and to everyone who put in!!!! Absolutely wonderful!

Well I watched the 150 show last night and was completly bowled over by it. It was amazing and I truly loved it. It was so nice to see faces put to familiar voices. Kenny man, what a collection you big geek, I think you have more stock than "Forbidden Planet".
The Moyers, it was cool to see how you put together you Father and Son reviews like that, just sitting at the table with your headphones. That looks like an awesome laptop you have there. Jen and Angela? Bryan's right, you are sweet and hot girl geeks to boot.
Everyone involved really went to work on this and the final cut just looked amazing. I sat there with a huge grin on my face throughout and even laughed out loud a couple of times. All the special effects on the various clips shows just what a talented bunch we have here.
Rico, your hard work was just perfect, we got to see you larking about and I'm sure I am not the only one who enjoyed this glimpse into your psyche. I really hope you decide to do this again although I would forget any future ideas for a dance podcast.  Grin
I really wish I could have taken part in this work of art but I'm afraid I don't have the technology to put together something like I saw last night but If you do make another video cast, then I will endeavour to at least try.

One more thing I have to say. As I was watching the show, I felt an enormous wave of pride running through me. Even though I am not posting as much as I used to, or would like to, I still felt proud to be part of this great family of lovable Geeks and Rick Moyer really hit a nerve when he said that us Brits should post a little more. Thank you Rick for just nudging me a bit my friend.

Okay guys, once again a big thank you for the show and this will stay on my PSP and not be wiped off my laptop like all the other podcasts. My love to you all

It's a common mistake for Americans to confuse the British and Australian accents. Us Brits, well me anyway, find it tough to tell the difference between the American and Canadian accents. Also I find The Australian and New Zealand accents to be very similar

I was unaware I had a Canadian accent. I think my Canadian accent just involves swearing more then Americans do.

Again - you guys are making me blush.  I'm so happy this seems to be a hit for everyone.  I wasn't quite sure how some of my odd humor would come through.  I had a list of about 20 "Treks in..." ideas.  Hopefully you will get to see some of those other ones in the future.  ;)

i listen to a million hours of podcasts....i finally watched a half hour of this at lunch today. Excellent, i rate this 5.1 out of 5 stars also(just like Nathan). This is probably the best podcast episode i have ever watched/listened to.(I have not finished it yet...but from the above posts can't wait for the boxing and dancing...(will finish it tomorrow at lunch.) From the very start to where i left off, like i said it should get the parsec award for sci fi podcast in my humble opinion. I will leave one more post tomorrow at some time to continue. Finally Rick and Nathan if i give you my coordinates in Northern California...will you beam me up and show me your ship?

part 2- the dancing wasn't bad....its all about the courage to undertake it.  You can juggle and punch a heavy bag(the punching bag will come with time). Finally during the interview there was trouble with a tribble, but that has happened before. I still say---150 is the best podcast out there.

oh nooo... look it's easy...

Canadians say "eh" at the end of stuff a lot, and pronounce "about" like "aboot"
New Zealanders say "fush and chups" and when asking for beer ask for a "sex pack"

And the one thing that Kiwis, Canadians(well almost), Aussies and even South Africans have in common? We can all beat England at cricket!!! :)

Of course this one time, in Las Vegas, I was once asked if I came from South Carolina..... well South ... yeah... the other part? uh... not quite!

My family and I are from Texas and my Dad wears a black felt or straw cowboy hat (depending on the weather) all the time.  When he recently went to Vegas people wouldn't leave him alone...they kept wanting to take a picture with him like he was some sort of celebrity. Isn't Nevada in the west? Shouldn't they see guys in cowboy hats on a regular basis in Nevada? I've seen movies filmed in Vegas there's always a rich Texas Oil Tycoon playing poker or Black Jack with some chick on his arm. Dad isn't rich and he doesn't wear suits. Just jeans, a western shirt and boots...I guess that threw them off.

It's probably because there are just a lot of tourist there who don't know their Aussies from Southerners y'all.  :D

I know I'm still behind the curve on these 'casts but I've recently watched this one and it's really good to put faces to voices.

Rico, don't fret over the humour! You do on camera what I would have wanted to do but wouldn't have dared. It was funnnnnyyy!

Rick and Nathan, in the land of cats...while not related to 150, my kids are fascinated by Bob and Gebular (spelling?) they don't understand it but love it (cries from a 5-year old in the background of 'Play "What's in the box Gebular" again').

Kenny, all I can say is...you don't look at all like you sound (oops, re-reading this it could be insulting - not intended that way at all)! Thanks for the tour of the collection.

It's odd, I've been listening to this podcast for maybe five weeks but in that time (and after 150 episodes) I feel I've got to know a lot of you quite well. Wierd!
