Now that Thanksgiving is over and we start to gear up for the Holiday season I was wondering what everyones favorite "Modern" Christmas/Holiday Movie was. Let's say modern is post 1970. I'm going to create another thread for Favorite "classic" Christmas/Holiday movie also.
I think my favorite modern movies that I have to watch every year would be.
Elf
Home Alone
Jingle All The Way
A Christmas Story
The Santa Clause
Christmas with the Kranks
Love Actually
A Christmas Story- "You'll shoot your eye out!"
I can't get tired of that movie! :)
Most of my favorites are before 1970. But I do enjoy A Christmas Carol (the one with Patrick Stewart), The Family Man, The Polar Express and A Christmas Story. I love the next two, though they aren't specifically Holiday movies the story does take you through Christmas and New Years: You've Got Mail and When Harry Met Sally. The holiday scenes in those movies are a few of my favorite scenes the two films.
For me it would be A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation and Reindeer Games (No I just tease on that one ;) ). Might be a few more, but I like a lot of the Christmas TV episodes or specials.
Jingle All The Way

The Santa Clause
Christmas with the Kranks
Scrooged

Christmas Vacation
The Family Man
and...
Die Hard

The Spongebob Christmas Special. Now that is a good one. :)
A Christmas Story (Fragileeee)
In no particular order....
Die Hard....good call davekill. Not many people consider this a Christmas movie but I seem to not watch during the year until the Christmas season.
Along the same vein is the first Lethal Weapon...nothing says Christmas spirit like driving a cop car through your house and watching Mel Gibson and Gary Busey kick the livin crap out of each other on the front lawn.
A Christmas Story....NEVER get tired of this movie. "But I did't say fudge. I said the queen mother of them all"
Spongebob....Awesome call there Moyer777... I love this cartoon....so do the kids.
The Santa Clause...TIm Allen is great in this movie.
