Are there any movies that everyone thinks you have seen and that you (either currently or at some point in the past) wanted to see but never have?
For example, I've never seen Return of the King. I've seen the other two LOTR movies and loved them, but I never got around to seeing ROTK in theaters and though I do want to see it, I've never gotten around to renting it.
Anyone else?
Yeah, that would be "Halloween".
When talking about horror movies with friends, it's a given that everyone has seen Halloween. I've just never gotten around to it.
Never watched the latest remake of King Kong. I received the DVD as a gift, but I just haven't found the time to open it up and watch it. There always seems to be something more worthwhile to do.

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. I was 10 years old when this one was released, but I've never seen it! Sometimes I think I'm the only person who hasn't...lol.
Steve
I think you might be right. Go rent it; you won't regret it! :)
I saw E.T. as a kid, but never really appreciated it due to my age, I should re watch it again someday.
This might be shocking, but I have never seen all the Aliens movies in their entirety besides the first one. I really should see those.
Ah I didn't even think of those! I haven't seen any Aliens movie in it's entirety.
I know this is going to be bad.. but I've never seen Star Trek 5, I've seen bits and pieces but never the entire thing. Also I wouldn't mind watching Star Trek the Motion Pictures. I only saw it once at a drive in with Tron and I fell asleep half way through it. Those would be two films I would like to see.
Blasphemer! :D Just joking. Honestly, while I like Star Trek 5, it is definitely one of the weaker films. Same goes for The Motion Picture. I'm a bit of a young'n so I don't hold the same sentimentality about the fact that it was the first glimpse of the crew that people had had in 20 years.
Yeah.. I was never into TOS.. I was more Star Wars when I was younger.. I didn't get into TOS or into Star Trek hardcore till TNG. I did watch repeats of TOS on late night TV, and I did see Star Trek 4 and 6 in the theater and went back and watched 2 and 3 on video. I have just heard bad things about 1 & 5 so I keep putting them off on watching them.. I'll watch them one day. I have too.. or I really should turn in my Star Trek geek card.
Well one thing you missed in 5 was Kirk, Spock and McCoy's rousing rendition of "Row, Row, Row Your Boat". You need to watch it if only for that!
I have actually seen that.. along with Uhura's feather boa dance.
I watch the 5th movie like a comedy and then I am not dissapointed. :)
Seriously though, Kenny, you really need to see it. It isn't as bad as everyone says it is. I got a kick out of several parts of the movie. Very fun.

Absolutely! Light cycles FTW!
Tron was cool.

Tron was and still is one very cool movie.. the effects really hold up. I loved it when I was a kid.. and the arcade game as well.. there were several arcade cames base on Tron.
I thought Tron was a really awesome movie as well. really liked the all the effects, the light cycles, the Tanks, the Solar Sailer, those really cool looking things that flew around chasing them
Tron rocked and it still does! The effects are "different" which allows it to be watchable even today. Now go watch Flash Gordon ( Flash! ) and let me know how the effect were from that disaster! lol
My parents took me to the Drive-In theater for a double feature of The Black Hole and Tron. I need to see them again because I've forgotten them both. I was too little to understand what the heck was going on.
For a good sci-fi/horror flick, Event Horizon is one a lot of people haven't seen.
Tron just rocks...nuff said. I was very disappointed with Black Hole...enough that I have banned it from being viewed by my eyeballs since.
Duffster
Should I refrain from watching The Black Hole again as an adult?
Black Hole holds a special place in my sci fi experience. I thought that it was campy, but had some neat ideas. It was a Disney flick for sure. Anyway, I remember being scared as a kid by the bad guy, he was a Captian Nemo type.. but had a big bad Robot that helped him out. Crazy!
In my opinion it's worth one more watch.
I mostly banned it because I bought into all the hype and thought is was going to be like Star Wars. It wasn't..lol But, as Rick said the Robots were pretty cool. I still carry the emotional scars of my disappointment. The pain runs deep.. lol

WOW!!!!!
I don't know if you really qualify for that screen name, Kenny. Maybe it should be "ModernStarTrekFanatic5"?
:) Just kidding. But I am surprised.
TMP and TFF are both underrated, in my opinion. Though both are flawed, especially TFF, there are some great character moments in there which make them worthwhile.
If you get around to seeing TMP, make sure it's the recent Directors Edition.
Raising Arizona...this movie seems to be on everyones list of all time great comedies but I just have never seen it.

If you like offbeat comedies like "
A Christmas Vacation" then do yourself a favor and see it
Raising Arizona is a lovable "trailer parks and convicts" comedy with a wonderful cast.
Nicolas Cage, Holly Hunter, John Goodman and Randal 'Tex' Cobb.
and if your ready for more -
Check out "
Repo Man" starring:
Emilo Estevez, Harry Dean Stanton and Olivia Barash.
After discovering his parents have donated his college fund to a televangelist, Otto (Emilo Estevez) joins the repossession agency (Helping Hand Acceptance Corporation) as an apprentice "repo man" and enters the world of urban decay, police drama, mystery, governmental conspiracy and even UFO's.
Executive Producer Michael Nesmith (The Monkeys) has a nonspeaking cameo as a Rabbi
