Title: Are You Left-Brained or Right-Brained?
Post by: wraith1701 on November 20, 2007, 04:25:54 AM
Some friends brought this test to my attention-

(http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t91/wraith1702/dancer.gif)

If you see the dancer spinning counter-clockwise, it is supposed to mean that you primarily use the left half of your brain.

If you see her spinning clockwise, it is supposed to mean that you mostly use your right brain.

The majority of people are supposedly left-brained.  How about you?

***You can read more about what the left and right halves of the brain do HERE. (http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,22556281-661,00.html)

I'm right brained.  She appears to be spinning clockwise to me.  I'm also left handed so that probably explains that.

That's a hard one. I saw it going one way and blinked only to see it reverse itself. I am mostly right brained, I guess

Oh geez that's weird, she keeps flipping back and forth for me now.  I'm a bit ambidextrous so maybe that's why.  Very cool thing.

She was Spinning clockwise for me as well, and from what Bryan posted of the description, sounds a lot like me to.

Trying to make it spin-counter clockwise is giving me a migraine.

Yeah that bizarre.. she was spinning counter clockwise when I looked at it first then I read a little more and looked back up and then she was spinning clockwise.... now that is all I see... I just went back and unfocused my eyes and refocused and got her to spin the other way.. very weird.

She's spinning clockwise. I'm an artist, so I'm right brained dominant but I know I am a blend of both. I'm pretty organized and goals oriented which is a left brain trait.

I trained as a painter in college—that was my specialization. Though I also studied graphic design, and I ended up a designer.  In college, my professors told me I was "very academic in my approach" to painting, which was probably my analytical side coming through.

We worked on accessing the left side the brain by turning our drawings upside down... it's amazing what you see when you do that. You can correct many mistakes that way.

Here's another test for artists to determine whether they are left or right brain dominant.I think you can substitute paintbrushes and art studio for office and other tools. I scored is 65% right brained.

That survey says I'm 55% right-brained.  So I'm in the middle, yet I see the woman spin left-brained.  Kinda odd....

You're basically a Vulcan if you're left brained and I see several traits here that are me...but not many. I prefer writing to speaking for one thing. And I like to plan things out.

    *  Responds to verbal instructions
    * Problem solves by logically and sequentially looking at the parts of things
    * Looks at differences
    * Is planned and structured
    * Prefers established, certain information
    * Prefers talking and writing
    * Prefers multiple choice tests
    * Controls feelings
    * Prefers ranked authority structures

Ok, now I can make her go both ways if I look at her correctly.  Its incredibly weird.  So I guess I'm both as the test says.

That answer was the right-brain choice.

You answered 19 items out of 20 as right brained.

Your score is 95%. Your right brain is extremely dominant

Then I took that test and got this:

The Results Are In! You can use these results to help you identify the best ways for you to study effectively. Be sure to find more ways to evaluate your own personality and study skills. It will pay off!

You are a left brain dominant student!

You probably like some order in your life and in the classroom. You are comfortable listening to lectures and taking most test types, but you might be uncomfortable with open-ended essay assignments that require you to imagine scenarios. You want class directions to be clear. A disorganized teacher or unclear assignments will drive you crazy! You are good at analyzing problems to find the right answer. You may have considered pursuing a degree in science or math. You don't like mushy love movies. You might be a Jeopardy champ one day, not because you're smarter than right brain students, but because you are able to answer questions quickly.

Hilarious! So which are you??? I'd say right brain with a mix of left, from your posts in the RPG.

Wow, almost as screwy as my brain.  From what it seems I qualify as left yet test right.  I'd say he is right brain with left too Jen.

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses logic

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses feeling
"big picture" oriented
imagination rules

present and future
philosophy & religion
can "get it" (i.e. meaning)
believes

spatial perception
knows object function

My "default setting" seems to be Clockwise, or Right-Brain oriented.  This doesn't surprise me; I have a pretty active imagination and consider myself to be creative- I like making things, be it writing a story, drawing a picture, or building a model.

If I close my eyes for a few seconds and imagine the dancer spinning counter-clockwise, when I open my eyes, that is what I see.  I have to work at seeing it this way, though; if I look a way for a moment and look back, she's spinning clockwise again.

***EDIT***

I have a feeling that most people on the forum are going to be at least 50% right-brained (if something like this can be quantified).  It seems to me that folks who enjoy sci-fi are going to have fairly active imaginations, which is supposed to be a right-brained trait.

I'm more 50/50 I think from all this talk.  And I found the part that talked about that wraith before you posted, but thanks anyway.  I'm sure the other members don't mind.

Just X, I took the same test and I also scored left brain dominant but I continue to see the dancer turning clockwise no matter how hard I try to see her turn counter-clockwise.  I'm confused  :confused

Jens test said slightly left dominate 60 / 40 and the above test says right brained. Confused? guess that make me a hybrid.
