I was thinking of doing a forum Secret Santa this year. Basically, for those that want to participate you indicate that in this thread and at a date in the future I randomize the names and assign each person another to buy a little something for them. I was thinking of a $20. spending limit, let me know if that sounds like a good number. I wanted to set the time limit to Dec. 1st. to decide to participate or not. I will PM your assigned person after then.
The way I thought we could work the address shipping info is each person can email their info to me and I'll pass it on to the one buying for you. That way it's only me and one other that gets that info.
I know not everyone does Christmas and might not want to do this for whatever reason. And that's fine. I just thought it might be fun. Basically if we have several members that want to do it (say at least 6 or more) then we will give it a go.
:vaderxmas :yodaxmas :leiaxmas
Feel free to comment below.
Love it... count me in.
I'm thinking that we should have a $100 spending limit. That way I get something really good. ;)
lol jk jk
Count me in!
King Linksr
I'm in!
:orc
me too.
Count me in Rico. :leiaxmas
Make sure to sign up soon if you want to do this.
Dates to remember:
Dec. 1st (sign up by)
Dec. 2nd (I PM info to who you are buying for, etc.)
Dec. 10th (ship your gifts out)
That timing should work I think.
Count me in.
Duffster
count me in :leiaxmas
By sign-up, you mean post here right?
King Linksr
Yes...that's all you have to do for now.
Last few days to join in the fun for this. Just put a post in this thread that you want to participate. Dec. 1st will be the last day to sign up.
Alright, I would be willing to do it, but I need to ask my parents first, but I think they will let me. I should respond with an answer by Saturday. Just to give you a heads up Rico.
Oh, I'll do it, too! Any chance we could extend that shipping date? I have to travel all next week.
Ok, here's the final list of people. I need everyone on the list to either PM or email me (treksf@gmail.com) their shipping address and I will pass that on to your Secret Santa buyer. Please do that in the next day or two. Then I will be sending everyone an email with who they will be buying for and where to send it. About $20 was our target spending amount (not counting shipping). As far as shipping, just get the gift out as soon as you can. Everyone knows how long shipping takes at this time of year. Let me know if there are any questions.
SECRET SANTAS: :vaderxmas
Rico, Kenny, Kinglinksr (Tim), Rick Moyer, Jen, PepperDude, Duffster, Davekill, Bryan
P.S. One final idea. It would be cool if everyone would snap a pic with the gift they get and post it up in the thread once Christmas comes. Might be fun to see what geeky gifts people give each other. :)
Don't forget to get me your address. I'll be compiling the list and sending you who to buy for in the next day or two.
Everyone should have their assignments for this now. Have fun and start geek shopping!
Got mine.. thanks Rico

Got the message Rico, thanks.

Hope this is going well for folks. Picked the gift I'm sending out today and will ship it tomorrow. Don't wait too long. Holiday mail is slow......
I went shopping all day today and couldn't find anything for my secret santa. I plan to get something this week and have it shipped off by end of week... here's hoping.
I ordered my gift online a few days ago, but couldn't have it drop shipped... hopefully it comes in time for me to wrap it and turn around and send it off for the person to receive before Christmas.
I shipped mine today!
Cool Bryan. Shipped mine off today as well.
How did you guys pick something so quickly.. there are so many cool geeky things to buy for my secret santa...
I don't know...I just saw it and knew it was the right gift. :)

I didn't, I struggled all week. I missed out on an awesome sale at Master Replicas on their .45 scaled lightsabers, which would have been an awesome gift, but they were sold out and I didn't trust the 3rd party vendors to get it to me by today or by Christams, although now it seems the deadline is maybe more flexible.
Well my gift shipped on the 7th, and should arrive on the 12th. I hope the person I bought for 1) doesn't already have what I bought them, and 2) is not offended that the present is drop shipped and not gift wrapped.

I got kind of lucky actually. Had an idea for something and managed to find it. Shopping for me never works unless I go in with a specific item in mind. Just browsing for a gift is impossible.
Well today when I got home there was a package from Amazon.. I tried to rack my brain and remember if I bought something from them as I have several things being shipped to me.. but no luck couldn't remember buying anything from them. So I opened it and once I saw the Harry Potter I knew it must be from my Secret Santa.
THANK YOU SO MUCH DUFFSTER!!!!!
I love the Harry Potter Scene It Game. I have been wanting to get that for the longest time. And this one is the updated version with all five movies... I LOVE IT!!!!! And thank you for the Star Trek calendar. I was looking to buy a 2008 calender yesterday when I was out shopping. Perfect gifts!!! YOU ROCK!!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!
Phew!!! I figured you would like the Harry Potter Scene it game, I was just worried you already had it.
I am very happy you liked it Kenny.... Merry Christmas!
Duffster
Shipped mine out today too......the lines at the Post Office are starting to get long.
Also beware of holiday drivers - when they swerve into my lane I just shout -
My Side, Your Side - My Side, Your Side!! ala "Stark" from FarScape. :D
I've got the gift, I just hope you like it. Rather limited selection of what I can get. Shipping it tomorrow...
King Linksr
I ordered mine yesterday, and hope it gets to my cool trekkie before Christmas. I kind of knew what I was going to get the person too. I think most people on the forums would like this. I know I would!
here's hoping it gets where it's going!
I placed my order today. It'll be dropshipped and hopefully will get there before the 25th. I had to change my gift at the last minute but I think my trekkie will like it.
Yay!! Finally got some stuff from my secret Trekkie... have to get one more thing then I can send it off.
I got my package off to the person I am a secret santa too. If it doesn't come within 4 days of this message, I have a bone to pick with USPS. ;)
King Linksr
Sent mine off today...
Ok, who is my Forum Secret Santa? Because I love you man! I don't get a chance to collect for Legend of Zelda often and this is great!!! It gives me something to do as I sit at home. THANK THANK THANK YOU YOU YOU!!!!!!!!!
And the best part is that Twilight Princess is my favorite game so kudos to you whoever you are!
King Linksr
You guys should feel free to include your name when sending your gifts out, or mention it here.
Holy awesome vintageness!!! :jawdrop I think the Secret Santa gift I just got will be the winner hands down. A vintage Hamilton Collection Spock plate from, what 1983?!!! DUDE, this is frackin' awesome!!!! My wife will hate it in the xtreme, proof positive it is the ultimate trekkie gift!!! :roflmao I'm pretty sure I know who it's form but will let him chime in and give me the backstory on how in the world he found such an inspired gift!

Well, considering that it looks like it came from a store, that would be difficult.

Why?? Even drop shipped items can include a card. I can post the list of who bought for who, but I'll wait and let people post that info themselves.
Yes.. my amazon gift came with a card, well a piece of paper with the person name on it.. that's how I knew it was Duffster :)

Oh, well, I didn't know. I've never done store shipped things.
King Linksr
Bryan,
I guess if we're supposed to fess up, so...
I saw it in a little gift shop and pounced before another trekkie spotted it. It's a first edition that was still in the original shipping package with sale order receipts. Once opened I don't think it was ever out of the box. This was a first issue, the second issue would have been Dr. McCoy. - I'm really glad you like it!
Merry Christmas :)
Dave
Awesome Dave, I love it. A classic! Merry Christmas to you as well. :)
Alright, I'm going to start guessing names here until mine fesses up. Don't make me get 11 free posts ;)

It wasn't me. I wrapped mine and sent a Christmas card with the gift. :)
Ok, so its not Jen, Dave, Duffster, Moyer777.
So its either Pepperdude, Rico, Kenny, Bryan.....
Ok, just for a shot in the dark, is it Kenny?
King Linksr
:) Nope.. I'm sending my out today.. sorry King.
Ok, Pepperdude? Its gotta be you.

King Linksr
Yay!!! finally got my package out. I sent it via priority so it would get there in time.. it should arrive in 2 to 3 business days... I hope you like it.
You guessed correctly King Linksr as Rico pointed out. I've been outta town this weekend so I couldn't respond quickly. You're welcome; I figured I couldn't go wrong with Zelda. I wanted to include a note but I couldn't it because I had the item dropshipped from one of those Amazon.com sellers. I was anxious to see the packaging and I'm glad to see that it is a Japanese import.
My gift arrived while I was gone. I'll have my little nephew open it tomorrow. . .can't wait. I'll post pics tomorrow too.
I'm going to assemble them then leave a picture here. Wish I knew how to read Japanese...
King Linksr
I unwrapped my present today with my little nephew! It's the coolest calendar I've ever received or ever had for that matter. I was impressed by the panoramic pictures-- the numbers and letters are small making the art stand out beautifully.
Thank you Bryan! It came from Arizona so it's obviously from you. :)
Here I am looking goofy trying to make my little nephew laugh. He's my first nephew so he gets all the love right now.
Your welcome! I bought one for myself as well :).
He's very cute Pepperdude! Nice gift Bryan.
Nice stuff gang. Glad to see the pics posted of everyone with their gifts too. Thanks for sharing and keep them coming for the rest.
Great Calender Pepperdude.. Ships of the Line calendars are awesome. BTW.. you nephew is adorable.
Got my gift yesterday. An awesome Jedi lightsaber and 2 Micro Machines collectables - an Alliance A-wing and Imperial Navy V-wing Starfighter!
I'm thinking from Kinglinksr? I have always wanted a lightsaber - very cool.
Thanks King, and Merry Christmas!
Dave
Yes he is cute and adorable isn't he? I just don't know why my brother-in-law dressed him with blue socks and shoes. . .anyway, I'll try to turn him into a Trekkie. I know his dad likes Star Wars so he'll have a good Sci-fi foundation.
Cool lightsaber. . . :starwars:

Yea, thats me. Unfortunately I had to open it and put it in without box because that would have raised the price of shipping. Didn't know if you collected but I've always liked the ships of Star Trek/Wars so I figured I'd "share" the "love".
Glad you liked it.
*PS to Forums members, its spring loaded so it acts like a real light-saber*

My secret Santa gave me a cool gift.

LOL.. great gift.. it's an Ugly.. I have a friend who is obsessed with them.
BTW... my secret Santa has their present waiting on their doorstep... I just check the delivery status.
Hummmmm... I wonder if it's me you're talking about. I haven't gotten one yet. ::)
I hope my secret santa gets their present today... :-\

I'm wicked aren't I? :-X
David's gift to me came in the mail yesterday... I got home before he did and tried hard not to examine the package. But I think I know what it is by the label on the box, which I had to check because I thought it was something I ordered for him. It came from "VSD" (logic tells me it stands for something that starts with Victoria)... It was big and heavy and packaged in a soft, plastic, opaque envelope. I think its a jacket or a robe. ;D
Evvvvvvvvviiiiiiiiiiiiiiilllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.
Mr. Moyer seems to want to turn me to the dark side. Call me, "Darth Rico" now! Mwhahahaha! :vaderxmas
(Thanks Rick - cool t-shirt!)
Those shirts are soooo cool. ;D
Nice Shirt... I LOVE THOSE.. it's funny you got Rick and Rick got you... how convenient :)
Actually that shirt is from Urban Oufitters also.. there are four different ones.. Darth Vader, R2D2, Xwing pliot and Chewy, there is a thread somewhere about them.
There's a cool Stormtrooper version, designed by the same company, on this site:
http://www.80stees.com/products/Storm-Trooper-Star-Wars-Costume-T-shirt.asp?val=CleverSet
Darth Rico must be stopped!!! lol jk. Very cool, but I remember seeing the post about that.
King Linksr
It looks good on you Rico.
Yes it's on this thread

I'm glad you like it. It was between that one and Chewy.
:)
Merry Christmas Rico!
Kenny's my Secret Santa! He sent a box stuffed with goodies. Here's a picture of one of them. It's a homemade box with a note rolled up and tied on top. Inside the box are items that pertain to the note. Here's what was written in the note:
Within this simple wooden box you will find everyday items, but things aren't always as they seem.
Here is a toothpick to remind you to pick out the good qualities in everyone, including yourself.
Here is a rubber band to remind you to be flexible. Things might not always go the way you want, but everything can be worked out.
Here is a paper clip to remind you to keep it together when things seem at their worst.
Here is a postage stamp to remind you to send a warm greeting to a good friend.
Here is a highlighter to remind you how you brighten my day whenever you cross my path.
Here is a band-aid to remind you to heal all of those with hurt feelings, either yours or someone else's.
Here is a candy kiss to remind you that everyone needs a hug or a compliment everyday.
Here is a quarter to remind you to give that long lost friend a ring and brighten their day.
Here is a piece of bubble gum to remind you to stick with it, cause you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.
Here is a pencil to remind you to list your blessing everyday.
Here is a tea bag to remind you to take time to relax daily and go over that list of blessings.
Though these items seem simple and small, the meaning behind each one is filled with love and gratitude. We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
With love, Kenny and Harry
Thank you so much Kenny! I really like them. Here's the other two packages Kenny sent.
All Rico needs to put on now are black pants, black boots and a cape. . . :)
You received some sweet gifts Jen; they're cool Kenny.
"Also included is a . . ." what? I'm curious.
"Also included is a Mac program to run them" :D
I'm glad you like them Jen.. I really didn't know what to include so I threw in a little of everything.
Very cool. Love the note and little box of goodies. Really neat idea.
Nice Kenny, a gift from the heart is always the best!
My secret santa gift arrived yesterday... THANKS JEN. First item is a book, Science Fiction Hall of Fame.. WHOOT!
The second is a pair of MiniMates, Spock and Uhurah
(http://www.readmorescifi.com/files/mini.jpg)
Awesome gifts... Thanks so much Jen!!!! Your the best!!
Notice how it's Spock and Uhura from The Cage??? I don't remember Uhura in the cage, pretty cool!
Duffster
I'm glad you like it Duffster... I was afraid that you already read those stories.
