I loved the books in back in high school.  Especially the series about Raistlin and Caramon, I think it was called "Chronicles."  I wish they would do something with that series.

Actually the Twins trilogy was called "Tales"   The Chronicles (or at least the first book) is what the animated movie is based.  It was comprised of:

Dragons of Autumn Twilight
Dragons of Winter Night
Dragons of Spring Dawning

I also read them in high school (waaay back in the '84-'85 time range) and they STILL stand up as one of the best fantasy series of all time.  I love these books.

EDIT:  I am also lookig very much forward to the DVD release in January...although with the pedestal I put the books on, it will be hard to live up to my expectations but I still REALLY wanna see this film.

Ok, it's been a while for me too, although I just read the comics adaptation of Autumn Twilight recently, pretty good job they did with that.

I read these when they came out, and recently re-read them. I was a little disappointed when I re-read them, but I still really like these books. I hope they do a good job with the video!

It's on my Netflix queue.  Unfortunately I haven't read the greatest reviews of it.  But I'm still going to check it out.  Big fan of the books.

Same here. These are my favorite Fantasy books of all time. I know LOTR fans don't like to hear that but I just had more "fun" reading them. I really wish they would do a live action movie!

Yeah I read some bad reviews as well. I just hope that it's just the animation looking like a Saturday morning cartoon is all thats really bad. I loved all books they are such a fun read. Plus how bad could it be when they have Jack Bauer!!!

I saw this a couple days ago.  I'd say if you're a fan of the books give this movie a pass and let your fond memories of the books stay unsullied by this lackluster release.  If you haven't read the books and were thinking of checking out the movie to see what it's all about, don't.  Just pick up the novel or the comic adaptation which is pretty good too.

The animation is poor and the voice acting bad.  There's a bizarre mix of traditional 2d animation with CGI pixar style animation for Tahkhisis and the Draconians and it just doesnt work.  If this sounds intriguing to you, which I'd understand because the description conjures up images of Roger Rabbit and such, trust me when I say it is so poorly done that it just doesnt work.  Watching this movie made me feel stupid for enjoying the books, and that's not something I want happening to memories I treasure and enjoy.
