Bethesda parent company forms new MMO studio

ZeniMax Online Studios to focus on creating titles for the MMO market.
ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks (Oblivion, FallOut), has announced the formation of ZeniMax Online Studios, a new development studio which will focus on the MMO market.
Heading up the studio is Matt Firor, a ten-year veteran of online games and a co-founder of Mythic Entertainment.
"This could not be a more perfect opportunity for me," said Firor. "I am extremely impressed with ZeniMax and Bethesda Softworks management - their development philosophy closely matches my own, with an emphasis on quality, innovation, and craftsmanship. I am eager to get back to what I love - the development of cutting edge MMOG titles."
No announcement has been made regarding the new studio's first project.

I'm sorry, but ever since Blizzard made its MMO, everyone else wants in on the money train. /sigh You know, eventually its either going to lead to the death of MMOs or all other computer games. I have no issue with a Star Trek MMO or whatever, but the fact that companies are basicly switching to MMOs....its going to make things soooo unoriginal.

Yeah my reaction to this is a big resounding "meh".
I don't know if I would want an Elder Scrolls MMO. . .I really like it as a single player experience; I'm not sure that I'd like it as an MMO.
I'm not looking past Fallout 3 as far as Bethesda, the publishers of Oblivion, goes. That game looks to already be a contender for game of the year 2008 (if it makes it out next year.) I agree that an Oblivion MMO seems like an unneccessary addition to the already crowded genre of fantasy themed MMOs.
