Title: Land of the Lost Movie
Post by: Geekyfanboy on October 11, 2007, 03:10:38 PM
Yep... you read that right.. they are making a Land of the Lost Movie.. here's the article.

Ferrell is Lost — Say It Ain't So!

http://www.sliceofscifi.com/2007/10/10/ferrell-is-lost-say-it-aint-so..

Universal Pictures has tapped Will Ferrell to star in.....get ready for it......a big screen version of Sid & Marty Krofft's "Land of the Lost."

Sources claim that this is one project that Ferrell has been wanting to be involved in for years and has pushed for it behind the scenes.

One thing that Ferrell may be disappointed in is his budget for the movie has been drastically cut from $125 million to $100 million because of the financial bashing the studio took with their film "Evan Almighty."

Directing Ferrell in the effort to try and capture the TV skein on the big screen will be Brad Silberling. His most recent film dealing with both drama and comedy was the Jim Carrey 2004 film "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events."

The Krofft business enterprise will be involved with the project with its producers Julie Wixson-Darmody and Daniel Lupi.

Screenwriters Chris Henchy and Dennis McNicholas will adapt the script for film about a disgraced paleontologist (Ferrell), his assistant and tour guide who find themselves in the Lost World of prehistoric creatures, monkey people and a group of retilians called Sleestaks.

Production is set to get underway soon so that much of the principal filming can get done before the expected writer's strike.

Freaky! :D  I used to love that show as a kid.

With Farell being involved, I have to wonder-- will it be a campy comedy, or a serious take on the series?

BTW, a poster on SliceOfSciFi brought up an amusing point-

QuoteHow apropo seeing as he played Marshall Willenholly in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back

First "Land of the Lost" Creature Look
By Garth FranklinTuesday, April 29th 2008 12:56am
image USA Today has released the first photo of the new look Sleestak.

The lizard creatures with the single horn and giant eyes were the terror of the kitschy TV adventure series and this new incarnation will menace Will Ferrell in the big-screen remake.

The comedic film is currently shooting in multiple sound stages at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. The creatures first arrive in a temple where Ferrell's character and his two companions (Danny McBride, Anna Friel) are hoping a giant crystal will return them to their own dimension.

The plot involves three adults accidentally thrust into a realm ruled by dinosaurs, monkey-men called Pakuni and the murderous Sleestak. Director Brad Silberling went to great lengths to keep the humanoid shape of the creatures, though one change is that their crossbows are now spinal quills they're able to fire like arrows.

Will Ferrel?  I'm a little worried about this movie.  I hope they do it right, but I don't about Will Ferrell being in it.

After watching the trailer, I may have to see this movie.  I showed my daughter and grandson and they want to see it.  Now, I have an excuse to see it now. ;)

I've always been a sucker for campy dinosaur films but I'll likely wait for the DVD on this one.

For me almost everything is a DVD for me.  Unless it's something really special or in 3D.  I did enjoy My Bloody Valentine 3D.  Until it's horrible ending.
