Title: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Post by: Ktrek on September 25, 2007, 09:11:26 PM
I saw the post about Saturday morning cartoons, and although I have not yet posted in that thread, I had thought about this TV show and was wondering what everyone thought? I just discovered this gem of a series and think it has to be one of the best cartoon series I have seen in some time. The animation is absolutely beautiful and the voice acting is superb but what really makes the show is the story writing. I can hardly believe this show is a Nickelodeon produced show as the rest of what they produce is just mostly garbage. This show however should be on everyone's viewing list. The third season is just starting. Season sets called Avatar: The Last Avatar - Complete Book 1 and Complete Book 2 Collection's are now available on DVD. I am not a huge fan of anime and although this has Asian themes and music I would not think of this as the norm for anime. It probably comes closer to Miyazaki's work than other forms of anime. However, even though this takes place in an Asian setting it seems somewhat Westernized, in a good way, I think. Anyway, if you have not seen this wonderful show I invite you to check it out. You might be as pleasantly surprised as I was!

I like anime and have been meaning to check this out sometime.  I'll add it to my Netflix queue.

Alex and his boys on the Totally Rad Show only have good things to say about this show. I'm not much into anime as I used to be, but I may have to give this one a look.

I found an article where M. Night Shymalan is apparently going to make Avatar into a trilogy. I don't see how he can condense each book down of 20 episodes into a two or three hour movie but it might be fun to see this story as a live action film.

Here is the article:

I've been watching since the first season and I've really enjoyed it.
