It's big, bright, pretty and 60 inches! I'm so excited!!! :metallica:
P.S. And I'm a slave to my wife Lynn because she was ok with the purchase. Hehe! My wife is great!! :wub
Is that a 60 inch plasma Rico? Or did you settle for a projection system? And what make and model?
Kevin
Oh - there was no settling. 1080p at 24fps, and 120 hz is not at all a compromise. Pictures and details tomorrow!
Congrats Rico! What a cool thing!
Here she is. Coming sometime between 7 - 10 am. :taz
Wow, Rico. That thing rocks!
Yes! Yes it does! The guys were very nice and delivered it about an hour ago. They liked all my props and lightsabers, etc. in the basement after they brought the new TV down. Now to do all the wiring and hookups!
Rico, I am not sure how much you have dealt with these tv's so I will just let you know that it would be great to run this tool:
http://www.amazon.com/AVIA-Guide-Home-Theater/dp/630551982X/ref=pd_bbs_3/002-1079622-1064051?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1188913045&sr=8-3
All the top companies that do manual configuration of TV's use this tool (or similar). When TV's are shown at a "big box" store and also delivered to the customer the color is usually boosted and other settings are screwed up. Trust me it's worth the money to use this tool as your tv's life will be longer and the picture will be superior.
Nice, I'm jealous he he XD. But then again, I'm happy with my flat screen 20in TV. I don't need 60 inches! :P

I just got a Polaroid 42" flatscreen LCD. I LOVE it. I've been pulling out all my old Xbox 360 games, playing them in HD is like playing a whole new game. I highly recommend you hook up your 360 to the new TV, Ric, HD gaming is really a whole new experience.
We have another small LCD TV for HD gaming but we might try it on the big momma sometime. Here are a couple of quick pics. Final got it set in place and fairly setup about an hour ago. Still much tweaking to do. Hard to take pics of a TV but here you go:

Looks really nice Rico, I am sure you will enjoy it. I have a HD PVR and I find that I dont want to watch anything in Standard Definition anymore(except for BSG as that just comes on a non HD channel in Canada :( )
Quite a nice setup Rico! I'm sure you have a nice sourround sound system to add to your movie enjoyment of that huge 60 incher?
Kevin
I like it. I need to get something bigger soon, it just depends on if my daughter gets over trying to color on my tv screens
I just watched some of "Wrath of Khan" and "Casino Royale" DVD's. Both normal DVD's upscaled by the Toshiba HD-DVD player. OMG!!!! :jawdrop I'm in heaven! I may never leave home again! :metallica:
Should make gathering scenes for the podcast a bit more entertaining.
Oh - I do all that at the computer ---- usually. But I might need to alter that method now... hehe.
Wowzers!
Rico, can I hug it?

Nice TV!!!!!

we are going to get the 56 inch LED DLP Samsung towards the end of the year along with a Toshiba A30 HDDVD player
I already asked for TOS S1 HDDVD set for Christmas
are you going to take the stickers off of the front?
Oh yes. The stickers were off on day one. Just an hour or so after I took those pictures above. And - still loving this HDTV! :wub
HDTV is pretty nice for sure. Last night I was watching My Name is Earl, The Office and 30 Rock in HD, and getting excited for the new TV season starting up soon.
Just bought a Toshiba player for upscaling my current DVDs! (after making another trip downtown to find a HDMI cable that is nesessary but not included, Oh bother!)
TOS never looked so good on my Olevia HDTV - thanks for the tip Rico :orc
Does anyone have any suggestions for good upscaling DVD players?
In my view, if you are going to buy one you may as well get an HD-DVD player. They play HD-DVD's and upscale very well. Or any good name brand DVD player these days should upscale. Make sure they have HDMI out. Try Toshiba, Panasonic, Sony, etc.
