Thank the maker! A DS9 podcast! (Maybe you did one before, but I only started listening around March). DS9 is my favorite ST series--though I think Picard is the most kick-ass captain (contradictions . . . feh)--so I'm glad you did one. And the choice of episode wasn't half bad, either. Sometime, it might be fun to see (hear?) a podcast/review of an episode like "Ties of Blood and Water" or even a goofy episode like "Trouble With Tribbles."

One thing I thought might have been worthy of note in the podcast, just as a piece of trivia, is that the female shapeshifter played in the TNG episode in which the Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians, and Federation are racing to collect DNA fragments as some sort of puzzle. Was it called "Tapestry"? Interestingly enough, she had pretty much the same getup in that episode as she does in "The Search."

Now for my  :2cents bit.

I like the direction you mentioned you want to start taking with the reviews. Less overview and more review is definitely a good idea. I thought there were more connections you could make with/regarding/toward the episode you featured this week. For example, what about future implications to the DS9 plot line? Or to the ST universe--my implication being the Borg conflict dying down in the Alpha Quadrant perhaps because of the Borg conflict heating up in the Delta Quadrant (as part of the Voyager or pre-Voyager timeline). Also, while I don't really have the time to go into a lot of examples now, what about trying to tie some of the episode review into a loose discussion of outside science fiction or pop culture influences on the episode, or the episode's influences on sci-fi and pop culture (i.e. why this episode is so cool). I think you actually did this in your review of the TNG episode "Unification" a few weeks back, and I would like to see more of it.

Also, I don't want to belittle anyone, because I might do the same thing, but lostrekkie, I think you can slow down and relax a little. I appreciate the value of community reviews on the podcast. It really adds to the sense of cohesion and gives us perspectives we might not hear normally. And I applaud you for your time and effort, but you sound a little out of breath or nervous or something. I recently had to read a prose piece (er . . . I'm a writer, sort of) at a rather large poetry reading (don't ask), and I freely admit that I sweated through both of my shirts, so I understand nervousness.

Otherwise, it was another good podcast, and I look forward to next week's.

I really enjoyed the podcast tonight Rico. It was good to hear all of your guests, great job losttrekkie, and dufster.  I really enjoyed your review and liked the collectible stuff too.

Thanks for playing Nathan and I's intro.  We had a very busy weekend.  I performed a wedding for a cool couple from our church, and we were busy with a lot of other things.  We wanted to do a review on the last episode of Stargate SG1, and we may still, but losttrekkie talked about it.

Anyway, great podcast as always, I got to walk and listen in the rain tonight!  :)

3 Ducks -
Just to let you know, I've done several DS9 podcasts in the past.  I have a variety of reasons why certain episodes are chosen.  I generally try to mix it up over the course of weeks and hit episodes from all the various Trek series.  As far as the style of the coverage and what I cover on the podcast, that is an ever evolving and changing thing.  Some weeks I go deeper, some less.  Again, it depends on many factors.  But thanks for your comments and I will consider the ideas you put forth.

Hey thanks. Yeah, I was kinda outta breath. I am usually not that nervous when I do things like this. Heck, for school in my final week of it this year, I had to give a huge presenation that was about 75 percent of my grade for that marking period, and I barely broke a sweat, and got four 100s and two 95s on it. But for some reason, I got nervous doing this. I dont know why.

Next week, I will try to slow down a bit, calm down. Maybe have a glass of water nearby or something, but anyways, I always enjoy contructive critisism. (I cant spell so forgive me).

I am going to need to like it anyways if I want to get my dream job as a script writer for Star Trek or other Sci-fi show I love  like Stargate or BSG. Wow I can go on forever. Anways thanks.

lostrekkie...
Feel free to make multiple phone calls (if that helps to break it up) to the voice mail line.  Or even better, if you have a headset or microphone, record the audio and email it.  I use Audacity to record the show.  It's free via the Internet.  Thanks for your contributions to the podcast.   :biggrin

I loved your review Rico. I think the Changlings sent the "infant changlings" into the universe, with no knowledge of their origin, simply to preserve the isolation they enjoyed. They had bad experiences with the "Solids" and because of it they probably wanted to make sure contact with them was limited.  If the newer changlings told everyone about the Link, other worlds might come snooping around.

I have a headset and Audacity already, I just dont know where the heck the headset is. I will try to look for it. I have an idea where it is.

Anyways, I have a good idea for my short review next week (or the week after) and I hope you all like it. I appreciate the comments, positive, negative, and nuetral and please give me more. I love to get practice and better at things.

Great Job Rico, that was one of my favorite Deep Space Nine Episodes. I enjoyed your review of your collectibles as well, now you have me wanting them as well :).

Great book review by the Duffster as always, and Losttrekkie good job as well. I know the first few times I did some reviews for Rico, I was nervous and they sounded awkward, but the more you do it, the better you will get.
