Marc Forster to Direct Bond 22

Marc Forster has signed on to direct the next installment in the James Bond franchise for Columbia Pictures and MGM, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Daniel Craig will reprise his role as Agent 007 in the film, which has a working title of Bond 22.
Forster -- whose credits include Stranger Than Fiction, Finding Neverland and Monster's Ball -- recently wrapped The Kite Runner.
Bond 22 is targeting a November 7, 2008 release.
Craig Psyched For Bond 22
Daniel Craig, who made his debut as James Bond in Casino Royale, told reporters that he's eager to get started on the 22nd installment in the iconic spy franchise and excited by the prospect of collaborating with director Marc Forster.
"If you look at Marc Forster's current body of work, that in itself makes me very excited," Craig told reporters in an interview in London while promoting his latest film, The Golden Compass. "If you look at Monster's Ball, Finding Neverland and then Kite Runner, which is just stunning, it's such a diverse look at the world. I'd want us to have that."
Craig added: "Marc is very solid. That, for me, is crucially important, because this movie needs to jump on from Casino Royale and take it somewhere else. Marc is totally inspired and is really just keen to get started."
Heading into Casino Royale, Craig got harsh criticism from Bond purists who considered him all wrong for the part. Now, he said, a different kind of pressure is on.
"Beforehand I was getting so much criticism, and I knew that we had something good to do," Craig said. "We had a movie that I knew deep down that whatever would happen we were going to make a good film, because we had to. That gave me this [ability] to not worry about the criticism. The thing is, now, we've really got to turn out the goods, because if we don't, then they were right. That can't happen."
Production on Bond 22 will begin early next year. It will be released in November 2008.
Loved Craig in the last Bond. I hope this movie stays on track, even with the strike going on.
Looks good
Woot! I loved Casion Royal. Though I'll admit, my Mom who could be considered a purist didn't like it as much. However a friend of mine liked it more than the previous ones. All opinions I suppose.

Daniel Craig on Bond 22
Source: Rotten Tomatoes
January 15, 2008
Bond 22 star Daniel Craig talked briefly to Rotten Tomatoes about what 007 will be up against:
But he was willing to let slip some details about the plot. "It carries on from where the last one stopped," Craig told RT, "We set up in the last one that there's this organisation that is destabilising the world's economy because they want to take it over, and that's his job now, to go out and stop them."
Visit the link above for more of the interview. The 22nd James Bond movie hits theaters on November 7.
The Movie has a Title now.
IVER HEATH, England (AP) -- "Quantum of Solace" is the title of the new James Bond film, the 22nd Bond adventure.
The title was revealed to reporters Thursday at Pinewood Studios outside of London, where the movie is being filmed.
Daniel Craig is returning as Agent 007. He picks up where 2006's "Casino Royale" left off, with Bond contemplating revenge after his betrayal by his true love, Vesper Lynd.
Filming began at Pinewood Studios earlier this month. Location shooting is planned in Austria, Italy and Panama. Judi Dench returns as the MI-6 boss M and Mathieu Amalric ("The Diving Bell and the Butterfly") plays the villain. Additions to the cast include Ukrainian actress Olga Kurylenko as mysterious Bond girl Camille.
"Quantum of Solace" is due to open in Britain and the United States on Nov. 7.
WOW....what an absolutely odd title....doesn't roll off the tongue as easily as a Goldfinger or a Thunderball but I would be lying if I said I was not totally excited about this movie. Bond in November and Trek in December....SWEET!!!
I hate the title. Not very Bondish at all, but I am looking forward to the film in November.
Kevin
I agree, does not sound very Bond like either, solace and James Bond just does not seem to mix for me, but I am very excited for the movie
Here's some more info
Bond 22 Gets Official Movie Title
Daniel Craig returns as agent 007 James Bond for the next film about the legendary spy. This next outing for 007 is the 22nd film in the franchise and was temporarily titled Bond 22. However, Pinewood Studios in London announced today that the film's official title will be "Quantum of Solace."
With 22 films to its credit over the last 44 years the Bond film franchise is truly the most successful of all franchises with Star Trek coming in second followed by Star Wars.
Under the direction of Marc Foster ("Stranger Than Fiction"), the plot for "Quantum of Solance" will be adapted from the Ian Fleming collection of stories in his "For Your Eyes Only" saga, according to producer Michael G. Wilson. Fleming was the creator of the iconic snoop.
"We thought it was an intriguing title and referenced what happened to Bond and what is happening in the film," Wilson said.
"It is not a revenge movie," said co-producer Barbara Broccoli, refering to how Casino Royale ended with the death of the woman Bond would have married. "It's a lot more complicated than that. It has lots of action but it also deals with the inner turmoil Bond is feeling."
"Quantum of Solace" will premiere simultaneously in Britain and the United States on November 7, 2008.
So apparently it actually is a VERY Bond title......whoda thunk it.
Reminds me of the Casino Royale poster...I guess with the washed out blueish tone
Is it just me or does that guy in the poster not even look like Daniel Craig?
Kevin
I was thinking the same thing to, looked older and not as fit as Daniel Craig. Maybe it is the angle, or the coloring of the poster, if it is Craig, not a good picture of him
Where did this poster come from.. I haven't found it on any of my normal entertainment sites.. might be a fake.
Here's some more info.. including plot details.
Sony Pictures has also released the official plot summary for the November 7 release:
"Quantum of Solace" continues the high octane adventures of James Bond (Daniel Craig) in "Casino Royale."
Betrayed by Vesper, the woman he loved, 007 fights the urge to make his latest mission personal. Pursuing his determination to uncover the truth, Bond and M (Judi Dench) interrogate Mr White (Jesper Christensen) who reveals the organisation which blackmailed Vesper is far more complex and dangerous than anyone had imagined.
Forensic intelligence links an Mi6 traitor to a bank account in Haiti where a case of mistaken identity introduces Bond to the beautiful but feisty Camille (Olga Kurylenko), a woman who has her own vendetta. Camille leads Bond straight to Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a ruthless business man and major force within the mysterious organisation.
On a mission that leads him to Austria, Italy and South America, Bond discovers that Greene, conspiring to take total control of one of the world's most important natural resources, is forging a deal with the exiled General Medrano (Joaquin Cosio). Using his associates in the organisation, and manipulating his powerful contacts within the CIA and the British government, Greene promises to overthrow the existing regime in a Latin American country, giving the General control of the country in exchange for a seemingly barren piece of land.
In a minefield of treachery, murder and deceit, Bond allies with old friends in a battle to uncover the truth. As he gets closer to finding the man responsible for the betrayal of Vesper, 007 must keep one step ahead of the CIA, the terrorists and even M, to unravel Greene's sinister plan and stop his organisation
Well, the plot sounds good!
As for the picture the guys over at ComanderBond.net message board say the poster is based on 'fan art" that has been floating around for some time. So....the poster is a fake as I suspected. I just couldn't believe Sony would put out an image that hardly looked like the actor.
Kevin
The Text on the Poster is different from what is on the sign behind the actors, so I would say fan made as well.
I found it here
http://www.moviesonline.ca/movienews_12322.html
It never occured to me that it might be fake.
So this "organization" that is repeatedly mentioned in the movie descriptions.....could it be we are seeing MI6 beginning to discover SMERSH or SPECTRE? It would be AWESOME if that is where the stories head from here. Although, come to think of it SMERSH may have been a communist thing related to the SOviet Union. Anyone remember?
Definitely not the only one excited for Quantum of Solace. Of course, thank God it isn't going to be out at the same time as Indy Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull!! I need to see that film on its own, seriously!
Also, can't wait for the new Trek movie. The teaser was partly why I am now back after a long, long, LONG time.
I'm now catching up, so if you see multiple "new posts" by me, that's why.
BJ
Sony Pictures has released this new teaser poster and a behind-the-scenes clip for Quantum of Solace, the 22nd James Bond installment opening in theaters on November 7. Directed by Marc Forster, the action-adventure stars Daniel Craig, Olga Kurylenko, Mathieu Amalric, Judi Dench, Gemma Arterton, Jeffrey Wright, Jesper Christensen and Joaquin Cosio.
Craig Injured On "Solace" Set
By Garth FranklinWednesday, June 11th 2008 6:16am
Talk of a curse hovering over the upcoming 22nd James Bond film "Quantum of Solace" continued this week as actor Daniel Craig cut off the tip of one of his fingers during an action sequence.
According to a source for The Telegraph, the bleeding Craig was taken to hospital but returned in the afternoon to continue filming.
The injury is the third in a spate of recent mishaps on the set following a collision last week which left Craig with a gash on his face that required eight stitches. Last weekend, a fire broke out which severely damaged an outdoor set at Pinewood Studios.
This trio of mishaps comes on top of a trio of car accidents in April whilst filming around Lake Garda in Italy.
In good news for the production, the first teaser trailer has been finished and looks all set to debut with "Hancock" in three weeks.
So love Bond. can't wait.
Cut off the tip of of his finger?!?!?! Ouch!!
Won't have his finger on the trigger now aye.

Man - this movie is looking great!
I've got all the Bond films on special edition DVD's except Casino Royale as they haven't released it yet on special edition. So, so excited about this new film, Craig is simply brilliant as Bond and if he continues in the way he has started then he will take Connery's crown as number one Bond.
I read the trailer should be online on Monday.. but you tube has a sneak peek at it.. check it out while it's up.

Dang! I am so looking forward to this movie! Love Craig as Bond.
--- And it comes out one day before my birthday too!
Saw the preview at Hancock last night. This stuff never gets old. Looks great.
I am embarrassed to say that I had never seen "Casino Royal" until the other day. Understand, I grew up a HUGE Bond fan, my Dad and I watched all the movies together. The last few films I though were so bad, I had really lost touch with the franchise. Well, the other day my Uncle tells me about the preview for "Quantum of Solace" and how good it looks. I mention I saw this thread here but didn't pay it much mind as I had never Seen "Casino Royal" although I had heard it was good. He made me go rent it and I watched it the other day.
OH MY GOD. Bond is back like he never was before! Not since Sean Connery has Bond been so real, gritty, and a bit of a sociopath, just as Ian Flemming had intended. I am back to Bond! :)
I'm also a Bond fan! I have all the films on DVD. I didn't think I would David Craig at first, but he excelled as Bond! He might not be tall, dark and handsome, but he's all Bond! The new movie looks good. I can't wait until it hits the theaters.
I saw the trailer today when I saw Hancock, and I must say I am really excited for this movie.
I knew straight away he would be a great Bond. I had a great argument with some whining twit on a Bond forum who was doing one of these "Craig out" campaigns and he said in his argument Craig had never done a serious piece of work. Well he lost that argument straight away, i mean come on "Our Friends in the North" was just brilliant, he was dark in Elizabeth, stole the show in Road to Perdition and his role in Layer Cake really gave him the Bond role on a plate.
Bring on the new film and lets all wear tux's. ;)
I also was one of the first supporters of "Craig for Bond" long before they had even chosen him. I think he is a great Bond! In fact he is more in keeping with what Ian Fleming had in mind as far as I can tell. Craig has re-invented Bond and made the franchise current. It will be hard to replace him when he leaves the franchise.
Kevin
Have you read the new book? I can see Craig doing that one if they film it.

No I have not yet read the latest book. I heard that it was a return more to the Fleming Bond and less movie Bond though. Did you enjoy it? I came close to picking it up recently but I already have so much on my plate to read now I passed.
Kevin
I bought the unabridged audio book so i can listen to it at work. Very much like the fleming novels. I'm half way through and enjoying it so far.
A brand new trailer is up! The more I see of this the more I like it! And I'm so glad in both this and Casino Royale they have given Bond a real woman to work with.

"Quantum" Is Shortest Bond Yet
By Garth FranklinTuesday, September 23rd 2008 2:17pm
One of the few complaints about the recent James Bond entry "Casino Royale" is that it ran a little long, well the upcoming sequel won't have any such issue.
Cinematical reports that "Quantum of Solace" clocks in at a brisk 106 minutes, making it the shortest film in the 22-strong franchise yet, just ahead of the first film, 1962's "Dr. No", which ran for 110 minutes.
In contrast 'Royale' was the longest at 132 minutes, most of the others have been only a few minutes short or long of the two-hour mark.
The film departs from the series in another way as well - for the first time the famous catchphrase "Bond...James Bond". Forster tells The Independent that they did shoot him saying the line but ultimately cut it out. One element that will return though is the gun-barrel opening graphic which was modified for the last film.
I am so glad they have kept the gun barrel, am disappointed they have removed the bond...james bond line becasue we always cheer when that line is said. :( boo.
Well it opens over here on the 31st of October, got my tickets yesterday and we're going on the 1st of November at 11.45am. So looking forward to this.
Quantum of Solace. Review Spoiler Free.
Ok just come back from seeing the new Bond film and its worth seeing on the big screen. This is a spoiler free review so don't panic. The title music which i think we all agree is pants actually works with the Bond titles. That makes me wonder if the titles was made before the music was wrote, hmmmmm. It starts off with a great car chase and then jumps straight to the titles then into the film. No gun barrel at the beginning. Still the film cracked into a good pace and then dips, and thats the problem. It doesn't really recover. Daniel Craig is excellent as you would expect, Judi Dench fantastic and Mathieu Amalric as Dominic Greene is very good as a slimy villain. The bond girls Olga Kurylenko as Camille and Gemma Arterton as British Agent Strawberry Fields (yes i know) are happy in their roles but Arerton is so under used its criminal. Happy final scene (not giving it away but if you love Bond you ache for this) and thats it. So what did i think about the whole one hour fifty minutes, well to be honest i felt a bit empty. Its not as good as Casino Royale but there again that would be hard and it needed the direction of Martin Campbell but its still worth seeing and I'm still excited by this new turn around of the Bond franchise. Craig can do no wrong but i hope they wait a good three years till we have another film.
Quantum of Solace Opens Big in the U.K.
Source: Variety
November 1, 2008
The new James Bond film, Quantum of Solace, got off to a big start on home turf Friday, taking $8 million (£4.94 million) on its first day at U.K. theaters.
Variety says the big day one haul, which was powered by lots of advance ticket sales, makes "Solace" the biggest Friday opening of all time in the U.K.
The previous Friday best was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which earned $6.5 million (£4 million). Casino Royale did $4.7 million on its opening Friday but, unlike "Solace," it had Thursday previews.
Quantum of Solace doesn't open in North America until November 14.
I'm hoping to see this soon but probably not going to make it this weekend as I have too much work to do. I am a little disappointed that so many of the reviews seem to indicate that the "heart" of Bond has been removed from the film. That the action sequences are superb but the story lacks substance and character development. I understand that many of the little Bondian elements have been removed. I don't know how Broccoli could do that as she has to know it's the little things in the Bond films that add to his character and remind us who is on screen even when another actor is portraying him. Oh well!
Kevin
Warning, Possible spoilers
The action sequences were great and the locations were stunning, but I felt a bit confused by the plot at times. This movie felt like a chapter in a larger story, and not much of a standalone movie like the other Bonds movies. If it is a TV series I can live without answers, but a movie to me should not lead people on so much imho. I am sure this movie will tie into the next one, but I felt frustrated at times, at the end of the movie, Bond was told information, but that was never passed along to the Audience. I suspect with this organization Quantum (Spectre???) the producers are probably not wanting to give to much away, but just felt like we needed more.
Still very pumped about the Bond series, but this one did not carry the momentum of the last one in my opinion.
Sounds like this is the Empire Strikes Back of Bond films.

Sounds like this is the Empire Strikes Back of Bond films.
...well, except for the whole Empire being the best of all the movies and all.... ;)
Oh damn right, Empire what a film. Quantum is good, but no Empire.
My wife and I just got back from seeing this today. I don't agree with others that say it is not as good as Casino Royale. I actually think the film is better! The action sequences were very well shot and the plot moved along rather quickly due to the tight script. I do think there were some good Bond moments. The ending was superb and quite fitting. I'm not sure why anyone would be lost as regards the plot as my wife and I had no problem following along. It does pick up major plot points from the previous movie and if you are not very familiar with Casino Royale it may be a bit hard to follow, I don't know, as I have seen Casino Royale several times and really love that film. I also don't agree with Simon that they should wait at least three years for another film. Two would be plenty. Daniel Craig is aging every day and if he is going to be able to stay Bond for 4 films they will need to get on with it.
Kevin
For something a film like Boind you need to have at least three years to work out a script from scratch (there are no more books to film) and then they need to do some decent prep before they start. Two years is simply not enough time from a production point of view.

But if they would commission the next script while they are currently in production on a film there is no reason for three years. They know they will be doing another film so why not have the machinery in motion?
Kevin
I think you need to look at the fact that they have to be carefull not to repeat themselves. The story was good but for me being a Bond nut i was left empty, it was weak in places and the last scene could have been wrote slightly better. Don't get me wrong i enjoyed the film and i love Bond but for me and my mate (we have a monthly Bond Sunday in which we watch a Bond film, Analise it, watch all the extras and then argue over beers..... great) just looked at each other and shrugged. Now in the making of shows about Quantum they had a beautiful shot of Craig running across the roof tops, you could see it was him, it was shot perfectly and i though oh wow when this hits the big screen its gonna look great. Did it? No. Why? because the damn camera was jumping up and down and going left to right. STOP IT. If i want to pretend I'm running with Bond I'll buy the darn game or do it myself. And yes people moan when viewers say "Oh its a bit Bourne" but the fact is IT IS. Now for me (and as always this is my opinion) I really want them to keep the darkness of Casino but bring back a bit of the espionage and leave the jumpy camera back on the Bourne set. Get the story solid, get the action smooth and lets have the gun barrel back at the beginning where it belongs. Ah that was long now where is my bottle of Kina Lillet i need to make a Vespa.
