Title: My wife Lynn is walking 60 miles for charity - see here to help
Post by: Rico on June 07, 2007, 05:48:16 PM
My wife Lynn will be walking in the Michigan 3-day Breast Cancer Walk at the end of September.  She has been training steadily for this for weeks already.  I thought I would appeal to the great and generous folks here on the forums for any small donation you might be able to make.  She has already raised quite a bit, but every extra dollar is a great thing.  I'm working on getting her to do a small bit on an upcoming special podcast with me.  Any donations go directly to the charity using the link below and are tax deductible of course.  We would both be very grateful for any help anyone can manage.  Thanks gang!

P.S.  Just wanted to mention that Lynn and the whole family are perfectly healthy right now.  But we have had friends and family members hit by this terrible disease.  It's up to us to help others in need out.

Done!

Awesome Lynn!  Go for it!

What a cool thing to do.  I'll think of you as I am out walking-- I only do about 22 miles a week!!

Bless you!

I hope you make it all the way Lynn! I made a donation under my company name. Unlike Ricky I walk way more than 22 miles a week as I own a lawnservce company and am my only emplyee with occasional help. I probably put in close to 75 miles a week at least. Thanks for your efforts!

No Kenny, she is still training.  As I said at the top, it's coming up this September.  Lynn did 10 miles yesterday getting ready for it still.  She is getting pretty fast!

How fast is she walking now?  I only do about 3 miles in an hour.  She must be going faster than that!

This is really cool, and I enjoyed your segement on the podcast about it.

I think about 3 - 3.5 an hour or so.  I think it depends on the distance for the day.  She has a whole training schedule mapped out.  But I'll ask again.

Just a little update on this.  Lynn is still training for the September charity walk.  She's doing about 13 miles now when she goes out at a time.  They usually go out very early to avoid the summer heat, etc.  If anyone would still like to make a donation that would be most welcome.  She has agreed to come on the podcast soon and chat a little.  Going to try and do that when I get back home from Taiwan.

Here's the link once more to donate (tax deduction too):

Just about a week left to go on this folks.  I will make one last offer.  If you donate $100 or more I will send you free one of the new T-shirts that I am taking orders for.  Just let me know if you want to do that.

Going well.  I talked to her yesterday evening after day one.  She sounded good.  The weather is great here this weekend for this.  Sunny and low 70's.  The nights are a bit cool with the camping out, but it could be raining!  I'm sure she will do fine.  She has been training a lot for this.

That's really cool.  I'm just heading out on a four mile walk, and it's raining and kind of cold!  Oh well, I must keep my girlish figure.

heehhe.
