Have you seen THE TIME MACHINE (2002)? I have! It's one of the best time travel movies out there and by far one of the best science-fiction movies I have seen. :biggrin
I still prefer the original version by George Pal. Love that time machine.

I saw the original Time Machine in the theater as a child. It was very impressive then and it's hard to overcome that childhood programming. But I think the 2002 version is better. That business of his being unable to save the woman because then he would not have invented the time machine was a nice touch.

I enjoyed the 2002 remake but like Rico nothing compares to the classic version.
I thought the 2002 remake was just fine also but I prefer the original. But I love classic films anyway and they hold a special place in my heart.

I have yet to see the original. I need to see it some day. I'll probably buy it as I've read mostly great reviews. I absolutely love the time machine in the remake. It truelly looked like it could actually break linear constraints and travel to another time. The actor playing the time traveler absolutely nailed the role. I like that he invented the time machine to change the past instead of out of curiosity. It get the movie great emotional depth. Granted, there's nothing wrong with him inventing the time machine for curiosity's sake, but I like that they decided to do something different with the remake. It helps the remake stand on it's own. I also loved the music, so much that I bought the soundtrack. Fantastic music by Klaus Badlet.
QuoteI have yet to see the original.
Uh oh! You get shot with Wraith stunner for that.

I'm young, and our video store usually doesn't cary movies from before the 1980's. :blink However, I love the remake so much, I want to check out the original. :biggrin
One word.... Netflix!
Thought about it, but I don't want them to send me random movies. If I can't request a specific movie, I'm not interested in the service.

You seem to not know about Netflix. I have used the service for years. You ONLY get the movies you request and put in you queue list. They never send you random movies. You will not find a better selection or value if you like to watch DVD's of movies or even TV shows.
I don't know Rico.. I use Blockbuster.com and love them. The cool thing about Blockbuster is that I can either mail the movie back or take the DVD to your Blockbuster store and get a free rental, while they mail you your next selection. So I pay for having three movies out at a time but really can get six. I love it.
That's fine Kenny. I was just trying to clear up the misconception above that they send you random movies. But if you ever want to check Netflix out, you should. Much bigger selection than Blockbuster and it's cheaper per DVD too.

I ment that they pick a random movie from your queue list. I don't want them to pick a random movie from my list. I want to request a specific movie and be sent that specific movie. If they cannot do that, I am not interested. Anyway, back to the movie discussion...
Originally, the Uber-Morlock was going to be some bizzaro future version of the time traveler. I wonder how that would have played out?
They don't pick a random movie from your Queue list. The list is made up of movies you put on it that you want to see. If you don't want to see a movie, don't put it on your list. Pretty easy.
As far as Netflix, vs. Blockbuster both are good services. And I have tried both. I have just preferred the selection and service of Netflix.
Bakc on the movie...
You really should see the original movie too and even read the book by H.G. Wells. Great stuff!
Why make a list? I'd either request one movie or a film series. I assume you can get a whole film series in one go? There's probably a limit of 3 movies or so, though. Anyway, I would just put one movie on the list and wait till I see it before adding the next movie.
I have the book, and it's the next I plan to read. I have to admit, I really don't read fiction all that much. I'm real bad about that, but I'm in the process of making that change. I'm starting off by getting some books that my favorite movies are based on. Not interestes in movie novelizations, though, because they're too similar to the movie. I like it when the movie differs a bit from the book so you have different interpretations of the same story.
The original The Time Machine will deffinately be one of the next few movies I buy. :biggrin
