THUNDERCATS, HO! WARNER BROTHERS OPTIONS TOY FRANCHISE SCRIPT
All that's old is new again, as Variety reports that Warner Brothers has optioned a script from first time feature screenwriter Paul Sopocy for a live action adaptation. Warner-based Paula Weinstein will produce through her Spring Creek Prods. banner, along with Dick Robertson and Lew Korman. Sopocy has written the script as an origin story expanding on the major heroes and villains from the animated series, with the plot focusing on Lion-O coming of age as the leader of the Thundercats.
The nostalgia wave is well known, with just a few weeks before Michael Bay's "Transformers" hits the big screen and refreshed talk of film versions for Reagan-era favorites like "G.I. Joe" and "He-Man." A generation of people has grown up into mature consumers, and the film industry is scooping up properties left and right to capitalize on this spirit of the time. When you add this to the popularity of fantasy, science fiction and comic book styled properties (with even derivative concepts like "Zoom" or "My Super Ex-Girlfriend" getting green lights), the nerds will have their revenge after all.
Screenwriter Sopocy is enjoying his first sale of a script while still enjoying his day job as senior writer of print advertising for Fox Broadcasting. This announcement is completely preliminary, with on discussions about casting, directors or whether or not actors will be covered in fur.
**Thundercats Update**
We contacted Warner Bros. and they stated that the Thundercats movie will be Computer Generated - not live-action as first reported in a press release. Please take note of this when listening to our story about the film on our Slice of SciFi show that comes out tomorrow.
To reiterate: The Thundercats movie will be CG not live-action â€"
Lets hope this happens.

Snarf, Cool video Snarf Snarf....
it was fun to watch again to see how meny movies and tv shows I can list that clips came from
Farscape, Stargate, Riddic ,Garfield
There are so many other comic heroes and series to choose from I really can't see Thundercats being all that huge. I enjoy the series for what it was but even He-Man was better written and had a much larger audience. I would rather see the studio invest their millions in an original idea CGI movie than try to raise the dead.

That was really cool! Whoever put this together is a genius.
Well Live Action and CG have been scrapped and they are going to release the new Thundercats at a cartoon.. here's is the first image of the new look of the Thundercats.
Hm they look a little too cutsey.
Still love that sword. :D
