Those of you who play WoW should know about this now. StarCraft 2 is finally here! Nine years after the original, Blizzard is nearly done with the sequel to one of the greatest RTS games of all time. I love the sci-fi feel of this game.
Check out the AWESOME cinematic trailer and the artwork/gameplay trailer at: http://www.starcraft2.com/ (http://www.starcraft2.com/)

This is going to be a lot of fun! My favorite RTS game ever gets a sequel - finally. Very cool news.
So - who is buying this today?
I am DEFINITELY buying it, but likely only at the end of the summer. This has been such an insanely busy summer!
One very, very cool thing is that I've seen a lot of people comparing the world and characters to Firefly. That is very awesome.
I might be getting it today....depends on if it's at our Fred Meyer or not. Should I have pre-ordered it? Maybe. But I didn't care.

I will be interested to hear what everyone thinks of this game. It has been awhile since I have played a RTS game, so if everyone likes it, I will probably get it.
Ok, not going to lie...but I went to Fredmeyer and the Special Edition screamed my name. It is probably the most shameful purchase....but I bought it >_<...with a coupon. It felt dang good though.
Will let you guys know what I think of it.

Looking at the extras included in the special addition, sounds like a good buy as they have some cool stuff. The CD and the Artbook are nice add ins.
Tim - take a pic and post it of all the extra special goodies in the collector's edition. I'm very tempted by that too.
I apologize for the less than HD-quality pictures. I really want an iPhone to take care of my camera issue. Also, there was sunshine on a day I wanted to take pics, incredibly ironic. I'll be posting these to photobucket later on. Or my blog, not sure which at this point.
What's really ironic, if anyone here follows my blog, but I wrote a less than positive review about the BETA version of this game, and yet I go out and buy the most expensive version of it. Makes you wonder eh?
Here goes! Just some info: The Dog tag is a USB 2GB flash drive with Starcraft 1 and it's expansion on it. Just plug, install and away you go! It has 700MB roughly of free space for whatever else. When plugged in, the orange area and blue "light" on the end light up. Very nice and durable as heck if I can imagine. Very solid construction.
The set comes with an Art book, comic book, behind the scenes DVD, Soundtrack of Starcraft 2, USB drive, Game and 4 free guest passes, 2 to WoW and 2 to SC2. I might give those out here unless personal friends of mine want them.
More pics to follow.

Gah, these pictures are horrible. I wish I had an HD camera, they look much better in person. Hope to fix this by next year...maybe.
In the middle picture, the top of the case has almost jaws to close all your stuff in this nice case. Looks wicked.
Is it worth it? Only if your a hardcore Starcraft fan, I haven't played much of the single mode, but the story already has me hooked. Almost reminds me of Firefly at times. Almost. I may not appreciate the game for it's multiplayer, but the single player has me hooked and all these extras are really luxury items. I may regret buying this expensive toy tomorrow, but today, it just felt so gooooood :D The USB deal will be nice to pull out in college and wow a few ppl. :P

COOL! I'm even more tempted now!
They sure packed it full of goodies, and things like the Soundtrack and the Art book can be enjoyed for years to come after the game has gone away.
I really really really want to play this! But I think I might wait until they whole set of expansion packs is out and be able to play it all through without waiting to buy the next one.

That'll be a very long wait, but don't blame you for waiting.

So, how are you liking the game so far Tim? How's the campaign??
Despite my harsh review I gave it on my blog............The game is quite playable. It's actually pretty awesome. I haven't done as much of the campaign as I'd like (more to come tonight :D) but the story is engaging, the characters likable and the graphics are stunning for this game. The game play itself is varied and will remind you a lot of the original, while making it seem fresher. I definitely like some of the features they added in like queuing your SCV to build 5 barracks (if you wanted and have the materials, not that I do...) or able to add more than 12 units to one group. The missions are different and are definitely better than "Go forth and kill X building(x)." I'd say more on that, but it might be spoilers.
At this point my only worry is that the campaign's length, and whether or not it's long enough. Obviously haven't found out, but it does worry me. It had better be pretty long, I did pay $60 for the game. Multiplayer or no. Especially since you can't play as Zerg or Protoss. Fortunately, my favorite race is Terran. :)
I have not tested Multi player on FULL yet, just BETA. I wasn't impressed with BETA's PVP, and it's unlikely to change, but we'll see.
Bottom line, if your a SC1 fan, you'll love this game. If not, well, then not.

So for someone who has not played this series, but have played mass effect 1 and two, how easy is it to play this game, and should I play the first one before this.
If you care about the story, at the very least watch this 3 minute recap of the the first game and its expansion:
StarCraft and Brood War story recap (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieud2xfFXb4#)
The original is fun, but it does look like a 12 year old game at this point.
Will this run on a vista 64 bit system with 1 gig video card and four gigs if ram
