"Family Guy" Creator Seth MacFarlane at Celebration IV!
Special Star Wars Episode Sneak Peek
Seth MacFarlane, the creator and executive producer of the Fox hit animated series, "Family Guy," is scheduled to appear at Star Wars Celebration IV. MacFarlane, recognized as one of the youngest artists ever to create a television series, also voices many of the show's most beloved characters, including Peter, Stewie, Quagmire, and Brian.
This fall, MacFarlane and Fox will air a special one hour "Family Guy episode that's a tribute to the Star Wars Saga as unique as only MacFarlane and his talented team of writers can make it. Fans at Celebration IV will be treated to a first look at parts of the episode, called Blue Harvest, and will have the opportunity to hear about it from MacFarlane and members of his team.
MacFarlane and the writers of the show have often riddled "Family Guy" with Star Wars references, but the coming episode will be all about the galaxy far, far away . . . from a "Family Guy" point of view. Joining MacFarlane on stage will be "Family Guy" Executive Producer David A. Goodman, Director Dominic Polcino, and writer Alec Sulkin. The group will talk about their experiences creating the show, as well as the upcoming Star Wars episode. After their onstage interview, it will be the audience's turn to speak up in a special question and answer session.
That sounds awesome. Wish I was going to C4.
Sounds like a blast.
I always get overwhelmed at cons.
So much to do, so little time!
Family Guy to Retell Star Wars: Episode IV
Source: Variety
May 25, 2007
Fox's animated hit "Family Guy" will kick off its fifth season this September with an hourlong episode that retells the "Star Wars" saga using "Family Guy" characters.
Variety says Lucasfilm has blessed the event, which will have the Griffin family acting out all the key scenes and narrative from Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane is a major "Star Wars" fan and was personally involved in getting Lucasfilm on board.
Not surprisingly, family patriarch Peter Griffin will play the role of Han Solo, while mom Lois will appear as Princess Leia. Evil baby Stewie will be Darth Vader, natch.
Brian the family dog will serve as Chewbacca, while son Chris is Luke. Robots R2-D2 and C-3PO will be handled by Cleveland and Quagmire, respectively, while creepy old guy Herbert gets the Obi- Wan character.
The plot of the episode has the Griffin family stuck at home during a blackout. With no TV to entertain them, Peter decides to tell a story --- leading to the "Star Wars" flashback.
I read about this a few days ago. Can't wait!
NOW with VIDEO --- OMG this is so funny!!!

OMG !!!!! I can hardly wait !!!
This was really funny, The whole couch stuff had me laughing, as well Princess trying to record her message on R2
That was awesome.. I was so bummed that I missed this panel..I'm surprised they allowed people to video tape this panel.. most of them banned videos. But good for us!!!
I doubt it was "officially allowed" Kenny. :P So watch it while you can! At least until the fall premiere of "Family Guy" when they show the entire thing, this coming September.
Yeah I thought the same thing but this person filmed the entire panel and there are other people taking pictures and video of it.. so maybe Seth and Fox didn't care. I know when we saw Robot Chicken panel they said they would remove you from the room if you took a picture with flash or any video tape of any kind. And for the Clone Wars they said they would remove the video tape and destory it if they caught you video taping it. There were tons of people walking around the panels looking for video cameras.
Yeah, typical con rules. But in these days of the Internet I am wondering if maybe they need to change that a bit. Especially since the "Clone Wars" trailer was officially released at the same time. In any case, I'm just happy to see a preview of what looks to be a very funny show.
That was awesome!
what goofballs! Very funny stuff.
Well, I was expecting this. I checked youtube this morning and can't find the video any longer. :smilie_nono: :smilie_bleh:
Well, that's easy to fix....

DMM - see the top post in this thread. I saved the file.
Do I "download" it because if I press it I get bombarded with code!
Yes - download it. Right click and save. You also need a player that can play .flv files.
Ok thank you!
EDIT: when I downloaded it and it just linked to the weird code...ARRRGGHHH!
Right click on it and Save As.... the file. Then run it from your computer. But again, you must have a player that knows how to play a .flv file. (Which is what YouTube uses).
Darn I don't think Mac can...
Only 4 more days...the couch scene, Darth Stewie and of course MEG !!

Can't wait!!!
What was this.. they removed the video.
That's odd - still works for me. Go to msn.com - video highlights. About halfway down. Its a preview of FG SW this weekend.
I guess it just doesn't like me.. it keeps telling me "the video you are requesting is unavailable" and I scroll down but don't see anything to do with Family Guy.. oh well this will be airing on my birthday.. so I'll get to see it soon enough.
Bummer. It was the same as the preview on youtube -- just better picture/sound. :happybday
Tonight! 9pm on FOX!!!
What's with Kaylee's ear ? Looks almost cartoonish.

I snapped that pic in mid jump when her ears flipped up.
Oh my god. That was too much. Genius. I like the way they matched the effects shots up perfectly. My wife walked in and asked if death star exploding scene was from the movie.
Great stuff! So many funny bits. Got to watch it again soon.
The gags were great but they way NAILED the visuals was awesome. The one song went a bit long. This is going to be all over youtube.
A long time ago, but somehow in the future.....
Usually, I can't really get into Family guy, but I this episode was too funny!
My favorite scenes:
Leia trying to figure out how to upload/save her recording to R2 (HILARIOUS).
The John William's Orchestra/Twin Sun scene
Deathstar Development flaws
Han and Luke taking out the Tie fighters
Man I totally missed it. Down with homework!
" Hold your fire there's no life signs aboard."
"What, we're being charged by the laser now?"
"Can't we just cover it with plywood or something?"
Merging this into other FG-SW topic...
(speaking about covering the small thermal exhaust port)
Guy: Well, if price is no object we can have it done today
Vader: (sounding indecisive) Yeahhhhh....welllll
Guy: Oor we can get some estimates
Vader: There you go !!
OMG...this is too cool.

Ok, I'm missing the reference the blue harvest ???
"Blue Harvest" was the secret/working movie title for "Return of the Jedi." Used especially when they were filming in Arizona for the Jabba sail barge screnes.
Also, I don't know why I wasn't expecting it but I almost fell off the couch when I saw Brian as Chewbacca.
"garglegarglegarglegarglegarglegargle. Always gargle before a takeoff!"
By the way, many of the special effects shots were just footage from "Star Wars" rotoscoped to look animated. That's why much of the stuff looked so spot on. Some of my favorite parts:
Opening crawl,
Leia/Lois putting the message in R2 ("It says I need to download Real Player,...")
Darth Stewie,
The whole couch gag,
Peter doing the music fighting the TIE's off,
Hyperspace with Dr. Who,
The ending with Chris (Seth Green) saying how "Robot Chicken" beat FG to the punch on SW parodies. Great stuff! :)
I take it they had support from Lucasfilm on this one.
Ok, just checking. Everyone did notice Roger in the bar scene, right ?
Absolutely.

Yes Lucas gave his support for both Family Guy and Robot Chicken Star Wars special. He's always been really tight with licensing out his Star Wars stuff. But after the final movie was released he's tend to be more giving.... lucky for us Star Wars fans.
Honestly I am amazed that there are no clips on youTube aside from the clips from Celebration!
I have not laughed that hard since the Robot Chicken special. I have never seen a full episode of Family Guy until last night...that was hilarious.
Watching the animated Boston Pops orchestra play "The People's Court" just had me rolling. And am I mistaken or was that actually Rush Limbaugh's vioce on the radio in the Land Speeder....if it wasn't it was a helluva impersonation. Love him or hate him that was funny....."And if that wasn't enough Lando Calrissian is now in charge of the mining operation in Bespin...We all know how he got that job...Affirmative Action. My wife was crying she was laughing so hard.
Thw whole show was amazing
EDIT: Whoa...sorry if you had to read that rambling.....weird "Cut/Paste" problem for a sec.
That was Rush. And Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo.
Anyone know where I can stream/download it?? I couldn't see it because I have no TV *cry* *cry* *cry* :jawdrop :troopersmile :-[ :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(!!!

Here's the ep in four parts. I guess it'll last until youTube takes it down.

Yea, i noticed they took down the 3 parts of the Robot Chicken on youtube...how dare they....how in the heck else do you watch it??
Oh well....

I thought it was great, I liked when they were attacking the death star, and showed all the different Red's (Think I liked Big Red Gum the best). Great show, really enjoyed it.
Ok, I have to admit, I have never watched family guy ever. :blush
So, I liked some of the parts a lot, but other parts were a little too "adult" for me. But that is just my taste. My wife and daughter left the room and my two sons rolled their eyes a bunch. Some of the parts were hysterical!
Yes, Jeff, the Red part was very funny!
My :2cents

FG is not for everyone. As far as adult content, that was an incredibly tame episode compared to some others. My wife won't watch the show. It's just not her thing, but she did watch a few of the highlights that I played for her.
Yes - not for everyone. Comedy is a unique thing too. What's funny to one person isn't funny to another. But I find the show pretty funny most of the time. Interesting thing about the SW episode is it wasn't super joke filled. More of a retelling of the story with new characters in the parts. Pretty fun still I think.
I love the show and I thought that episode was an absolute riot, but it was different from a normal FG episode.
I read that LFL had them cut out the incest jokes, which is understandable.
It makes me wonder if they had to cut out the Greedo shoots first stuff that I expect we were all surpised to see omitted.
Family Guy May Parody “Empire†Next

Sunday night’s season premiere parody of the original “Star Wars†on “Family Guy†was such a ratings success that producers are considering turning it into an annual event, according to reports in TV Week.
The one-hour parody garnered a 5.5 rating in the 18-49 year old demographic, making it the highest watched episode of “Family Guy†since the show returned to FOX with original episodes.
The producers are considering making a “Star Wars†parody an annual event for the show along the lines of “The Simpsons’†annual Halloween specials. Next up for parody would be the second installment in the original “Star Wars†trilogy, “The Empire Strikes Back.â€
The one-hour special was produced with the approval of “Star Wars†creator George Lucas. In addition, the show featured much of John Williams’ famous musical score from the original movie.
Fans who missed the one-hour parody may be hard-pressed to find it. FOX has no current plans to re-air the show and the episode has yet to appear on iTunes or on FOX’s video player where it can be purchased for download.
I just watched it after I recorded on Sunday. Wow...amazing! My wife must have thought my daughter and I were crazy, we were laughing so much!! If it's a battle between Robot Chicken and Family Guy, I think Family Guy wins, although I thought Robot Chicken was also fantastic!!

The scene with Porkins was a riot
R2 popping a cap in the TIE fighter gangsta style had me crying...."That's how we do it in my neighbahood B*%ch!"
I hope both Family Guy and Robot Chicken do more Star Wars parodies....I'd watch.
I loved these. I didn't use to much for Family Guy, but a friend of mine "corrupted" me to watching it. Oh well...I'm sure I'll live XD

I listen to movie soundtracks while I work and the TIE Fighter attack music came on. All I can think of now is Peter/Han singing along while sitting in the gunner seat shooting down TIEs.
Da da. Da da. da daaa dadadada daaaaa!
"Family Guy: Blue Harvest" Coming to DVD
November 05, 2007
A long time ago, but somehow in the future ...Fox Home Entertainment presents an outrageous look at the Star Wars universe with "Family Guy: Blue Harvest," a parody of the movie that started it all -- Episode IV A New Hope -- on DVD on January 15. The release promises never-before-seen footage, commentaries, interviews with George Lucas and others, and a first look at the next hilarious intergalactic adventure.
In the season premiere of the offensively uproarious series' sixth season, "Blue Harvest" finds Peter, Lois, Chris, Stewie, Brian and some of Quahog's finest in the middle of George Lucas' beloved science-fiction epic. Feel the Farce in the most irreverent and hilarious way possible; with Han Solo (Peter) Dumpster diving for furniture; Darth Vader (Stewie) soiling his diapers; Luke (Chris) battling against "Thai" fighters; and C-3PO (Quagmire) flirting with a 1980s dot-matrix printer. Featuring hysterical cameos from Rush Limbaugh, Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo and Helen Reddy, "Family Guy" Presents: "Blue Harvest" is "a dead-on homage that hilariously picks apart Star Wars, along with much of real life" (Associated Press).
The DVD features more than four minutes of never-before-seen material; an uncensored track; animatics; commentaries; interviews with Seth MacFarlane and George Lucas; and a first look at a now-in-production "Family Guy" Star Wars spoof (which goes by the working title of "Something, Something, Something Dark Side).
Also available for true "Family Guy" and Star Wars fans is a special edition DVD that features collectible packaging, trading cards, an exclusive brochure, 3-D glasses, a t-shirt and more. That is pretty cool. That is a nice looking box set as well. I will probably pickup the standard version, the box set is cool, I really dont have any place to store it.
awesome
Seth green the voice of Chris Griffith and creator of Robot chicken also did a robot chicken Star wars special that aired right afterwards.
The Family guy show was funnier.
Me and my boyfriend were watching and he said , "If this were a star trek episode we would get all the inside jokes alot more."
And he was right. :)
I know way more about star trek than star wars.
Here's the poster for the next Family Guy/Star Wars crossover.
Looks like it's now only coming out on DVD & Blu-Ray (no TV broadcast?). I just put this trailer up on Youtube. Here you go:

Rico your Treksf account has been suspended on you tube.. I think I remember you mentioning this.. did you create a new account?
Hmmm, I guess they didn't like that trailer being put up. But my account is still ok. So, let's try it this way...
