For those of you using iTunes, I'd love it if you could write a short review for my Podcast and put it up there. Just a sentence or two about what you like about the Podcast, etc. Just go to iTunes, then Podcasts and search for "Treks in Sci-Fi." Then hit the little 'write a review' button. (Only one up there so far.) I'd really appreciate it gang!
Oh yes goin to right now.
Thanks to those that put up a review at iTunes. I have a few more there now. Very nice comments and I really appreciate them! Here's a sampling:

Anyone that's gets the chance - please toss a review up on iTunes (if you haven't already). It really helps! Thanks!
Any new iTunes mini reviews would be great! Tell your friends! ;)
i just put one up... i guess it has to be approved or something, but it should be up soon.
Thanks much!

You might become famous at this rate for a mortal Rico
Rico, do u know how many people listen regularly to the show?
Oo boy, Rico will be famous at this rate. I'm assuming there has to be somewhere around 150-200 people. But I bet Rico would know from the amount of downloads from his server.
yeah... but not strait from itunes? right?
Well nothing is downloaded straight from iTunes, you just submit your RSS feed to iTunes, and then trough iTunes, people can dowload the mp3s from your server or wherever you say the mp3s are in the feed.
ah... so can u track how many people download the cast?
Well, you should be able to, but to get the info, you have to ask your server company. The cool thing with byethost is that they use Cpanel, so you can check all that stuff easily.
so, can rico do it?
Beats me. I don't know what company thingy hosts his site (I think he told me, but it was awhile ago and I can't remember). Maybe Rico can answer that one.
Rico? u there? lol...
I posted a new review up on ITunes for you yesterday, Rico.

Sorry I missed this discussion. I get about 250 downloads of each cast. Not a lot but it grows a bit each month.
Podcasting is still so much in it's infancy.
I'm a pretty savvy tech guy and I only just picked it up in March of this year.
Whenever I try to explain what a podcast is nobody seems to get it. I'll have them listen to it, and still I get a blank stare. I'm working on different ways to explain it. Many people are locked into just music for MP3 players.
Anyway, Rico, I think you are establishing your Trek nitch quite nicely.
I just posted a review on iTunes.
Posted a Review under the nickname IDIC :)
Thanks for all the nice reviews on iTunes. I really appreciate it. If anyone else has time and hasn't dropped a review there, please feel free to do so. It's very easy. Just use the link in the start of this thread to get there. ;)
Just finished a review. Hope it helps.
I put a review up a couple days ago. I hope it helps out :)
Thanks to all that have put a review up in iTunes for the podcast. Feel free to post one if you haven't yet.
This should take you right to the show there:

does anyone know: is there a way to do it without giving a credit card number? having an apple id obviously isn't enough :(

I think you need an iTunes account.

in theory the apple id works, but it asks for additional data to use it for itunes, needs a credit card.
i suspect an itunes account needs a credit card as well?
Yes. It's mainly a convenience thing for the store. They won't use your credit card unless you click "buy" on a song or movie. Which is VERY addictive sometimes. :)
hi jen! :)
yes, i understand why they'd like to have it. ;)
but as most germans i only have a debit card, no credit card. :(
and no credit card means no itunes account means no reviews for the podcasts i love... :(
(a gift certificate might work and those can be bought in stores, but i'll have to do some research to be sure)
there might be a way around it with the itunes app store, but i don't know if it will enable me to write reviews, we'll see.

Hi Katrin, you leave a review for Rico on http://www.podcastalley.com (http://www.podcastalley.com) instead. :)

say, is podcast alley still relevant? i remember rico asking for a vote nearly every show, but not anymore.
i thought itunes is more important, and it seems i found a workaround. the link, in case anyone else has the same problem:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534?viewlocale=en_US (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534?viewlocale=en_US)
now i only have to figure out what to write! :D
You can certainly still do Podcastalley. I just frankly grew kind of tired of mentioning it on the podcast. Since iTunes seems to be one of the biggest hubs of podcasts around, I've been trying to get more reviews and/or ratings over there. At least as much as I can.
And good reviews and ratings there are! :)
i borrowed a bit from the 'helpful' comments there, so i wouldn't miss anything important and i think mine turned out nicely! :)

Yes - or at least a way to login. It's all free I think, unless you buy something.
If anyone hasn't left a review on iTunes for the podcast, please take a few minutes to do so. I appreciate them!

I find that people are not posting reviews as often on iTunes for us. Not sure why. Have you experienced a slowdown? We were getting at least one a month for a while there. Now we're lucky if we get one every two or three months. Also, feedback has really dropped off, even though I ask for it on every episode and provide google voice mail number, email, forum address, Facebook, Twitter accounts, etc. Only our regular listeners send us comments, of which we're very appreciative. It's a little disappointing that new folks don't send in comments, we love to interact with people. It makes our shows better. I wonder if our listeners are just use to not getting to interact with other hosts and so they don't even try. Have you had that problem? Sorry if I derailed the thread, I don't mean to. Just curious if my fellow podcasters have noticed the same drop off.
A good reminder...I listen to a bunch of podcasts and I should review the ones I've enjoyed...threw you a review, am gonna do a bunch of other ones too.

There are ebb's and flows. I don't check very often on iTunes, but I always appreciate reviews. As far as interaction, mainly I get it from the folks on the forum here. I get some emails from others occasionally too. But for the most part I just do the podcast because I still enjoy doing it.

Oh yes, we do this because we love it too. I think we would have fizzled out a long time ago if that wasn't the case. Especially in the early days when all we did was giggle and laugh and sing stupid theme songs. :D And I think most of our feedback comes through Twitter and Facebook these days.
Angela doesn't care one way or the other. But personally I like to hear what our listeners opinions are with regards to the subjects we chat about. I want to know their thoughts on the matter and mention their thoughts on the show...I like offering other viewpoints. Most of the time we get that feedback from our regulars on Facebook.
