New show is up. I mainly talk about 5 of my favorite SF type TV shows from the past. iTunes feed seems a bit slow to catch up today if you use that to get the show. You can find the direct link on the Podcast Notes main page or use this to get it: http://www.treksf.com/podcast/Treksf.com_18_01-01-2006.mp3
Enjoy and let me know what you think! ;D
Feed all working now in iTunes, etc. Have fun!
Loved hearing about these great SF TV series again!
Thanks! Had a lot of fun doing this show. :)
My iPod has been taken for awhile so i cant listen to this podcast right away. :(
Rico,
Loved the show.
I vaguely remember watching "Space 1999" as a kid, I do remember having the ship.
I STILL love watching Quantum Leap...occasionally on Sci-Fi I think, or was. One of my favorite eps of that show was when Sam leapt into Lee Harvey Oswalds body...I thought that was intreresting.
Kepp up thew GREAT work
I loved this podcast. We must have had the same favorites in the past.
Space 1999 is an all time fav of my wife and I. We have the Mega-set of DVD's and watch them over and over again.
I wish I could find copies of The Man from Atlantis. That series had potential and I have fond memories of it.
I finally taped all the Quantum Leap episodes and can't make up my mind if I need to get the DVD sets or not.
I even liked the Partridge Family song :).
Thanks dragon57. I have many more favorites, but this was a good start. Just wish some of these would come out on DVD soon.
Show 18 was awesome. I too loved and watched all those shows and it was a blast to listen to the theme songs once again.
I got really nostalgic when I heard the theme for Man From Atlantis. Wow. I haven't listened to that song since I was a kid and I remember I was living in another estate and I really enjoyed that show. I must admit I barely remember what it was about, but I remember some cool stuff about it. Like Mark outrunning a dolphin and he had those weird membranes on hands and feet. He also had weird looking eyes, right?
Logan's Run was a show I liked but I only saw some episodes. I was a kid and I found it rather strange.
Space 1999 was fantastic. As you know, I made a career being a graphic artist. I remember I began drawing and creating my own comics about the show. Drawing space scenes with Eagle spaceships was very fun. Again, I was too young and I can't remember most of the plots and characters, but the ships remained on my mind till today! Oh and the envirosuits too!
With Beauty and the Beast weird things happened. I know I like it. I wanted to see it. BUT I needed to keep my tough guy reputation so I never enjoyed the show. That was pretty stupid because now I wish I had seen it. Like you said, this show appealed a lot to girls and ladies and I couldn't admit publicly that I watched a girly show. I know it's never been a girl only show, but I was a stupid teen back then. As soon as I see them on DVD I'll buy them.
Finally, what can I say about Quantum Leap. Man, it was just fantastic. With this show Scott Bakula became one of my favorite actors ever because he could play a monkey, a PI, a rock star, a girl... everything! He was outstanding on that series. Great stories, fun to watch... that show had everything, from adventure to drama and comedy. It's a must for everyone that loves to watch a fun show and it's even more important to sci fi fans.
Great show indeed. Good work, Rico! :thumbsup
Thanks morex. I really love many shows from the past, almost more than current ones. I wonder if in the future I will look back on the current stuff I watch with as much fondness. And yes, Mark on "Atlantis" had bright green eyes that allowed him to see deep underwater and the webbed hands and feet. I'll be doing another Podcast like this sometime in the future. Also, I was thinking today of doing a show on just SF/Fantasy TV show theme songs/music. I really like the theme/intros to shows. One thing I was unhappy with the current seasons of the Stargate shows is they pretty much dropped the whole theme/intro for both shows. I really miss that. Hopefully it will return. :cheering
Cant wait to listen to it.
Finally got to listen to the podcast. From those TV shows I've only seen Logan's Run, Beauty and the Beast and Quantum Leap. I've heard of the other shows but never seen them. I've always wanted to see Space 1999. Maybe will get these shows on DVD someday.
Another fun podcast.. thanks
Another success Quapla!
I just listened to this cast for the first time, and was pleasantly surprised to hear the Quantum Leap theme song. This was one of my favorite shows when it was running in syndication on Sci Fi in the early/mid 90's was it? I missed the original run because I was in college, but Sci Fi network ran the series pretty much in order I think. I have the first three seasons on DVD, and will definitely pick up 4 soon and 5 when it comes available. Agreed that this series had some great, great episodes. I loved the ones Rico mentioned about the black man and the one with Jimmy, the kid with Downs Syndrome. One of the episodes I liked most had Sam as a single mom with a kid that runs away and winds up being kidnapped. Some of these shows had the cheese factor up there pretty high but even at its worst this show never took itself so seriously that it could ever be considered anything other than harmless, good natured, and fun. The only real negative thing I can say about this show is its ending. I read somewhere that they didn't know the show was cancelled when they wrote the last episode, and so never had a chance to tie things up adequately. The final episode was a great lead in to what probably would have been the best season yet, but as a series closer it sucks real bad. This show needs a full length feature film or at least a made for TV movie, or better yet a miniseries or something and I bet alot people would love it.
Wow - a podcast blast from the past. I really loved Quantum Leap. Which is one of the reasons Enterprise was a good show - to me. I think Scott Bakula is a very talented actor. I agree Joby, I would love to see a fitting finale (movie or miniseries) to wrap up the show properly. There has been some talk about it over the years but nothing solid - yet.
