TREKS IN SCI-FI FORUM

I've been thinking of doing another contest.  With a prize of a grab bag/box of goodies, collectibles, etc.  Probably be some toys, a DVD or two, a book, comics, maybe a T-shirt, etc.  The way I was thinking of running this was selling "tickets" for $5 each.  Each ticket gives you a chance to win.  I would sell tickets for a few weeks, then randomly have a name drawn for the winner.  Mainly I want to get some new software for doing the podcast, and maybe a new mic stand, etc.  Trying to raise a little cash for that stuff - plus I thought this would be fun!  Vote above and let me know if you might be interested in this.  If there is enough interest I will start it up soon and announce it on the podcast.  Let me know what you think.

I would be willing to paypal over some money for a ticket, if some of the contest money went to more than prizes or equipment.  I appreciate the expense of podcasting too, but I'm not sure how I feel about directly supporting it, if you know what I mean.

If you were say that half of the money raised went to, say, the American Heart Association (Valentines day, heart, get it?), or the National Science Foundation (sci fi fans start in Science class), then I'd feel a little better about it.

Does that make sense?

Completely up to you of course, but this isn't a fund raiser in that sense.  Also, I honestly don't see this generating any huge amount of money if I did it.  I just thought it might be a fun thing to do and also to help offset some costs.

Perhaps... guess it depends on what you'd be giving away. :)

I think it's a great idea.. maybe you can do one dollar for each raffle ticket and have a five dollar minimum... that way you have five chances to win (feels like better odds) and if you want more you can buy more tickets.  Just an idea... but I'm in.

I'd buy a couple.  Grab bag sounds like fun. 

I remember when I got my Tshirt, that was cool.  BTW, I was wearing it one day and I got an inquiry.  However, I did a lousy job of explaining what a podcast is.  The guy looked at me like Spock had just dropped me off from Vulcan. 

He just didn't get it.  I need to work on my delivery.

Hehe....I usually tell folks it's a radio talk show - but prerecorded that you can play on your iPOD or other mp3 player.
