Admiral Talbot's parents first met when they were assigned as diplomats to Nimbus three. After several years or chance meetings and then dating then decided to live together for a time. Shortly afterwards they were married.
They didn't plan to have children but ended up having one child, a boy that they named Sirach Dar. As diplomats to various remote colonies and systems the Talbot's moved around a lot while he was growing up. Sometimes this involved time aboard Federation Starships, which Sirach began to explore and learn about. He was especially interested the the technology of mighty Starships. Sirach became an avid reader of technical journals on warp drive propulsion, transporter systems and other engineering systems.
It wasn't easy growing up as a half-human and half-romulan child. He spent most of times around humans but did get a chance to visit Vulcan and Romulus several times. He enjoyed Vulcans and their culture quite a bit. But he did have a habit of getting into a few fights with Vulcan children from time to time. Even though the Vulcan children were stronger and better trained, Sirach could at times hold his own in those confrontations. This was around the time he began to learn various unarmed combat techniques and studied them intensely.
He quickly decided he wanted to enter Starfleet Academy and study engineering. He did very well there and became close friends with one of his instructors - Captain Saavik. She was also of mixed heritage, like he was and this drew them together. Sirach learned much from Saavik on how to balance his logical and emotional states and to choose when to use each of them. After graduation he was posted as an Ensign in engineering aboard the Yorktown.
Sirach greatly enjoyed his early years aboard the Yorktown. He found the diverse crew was more accepting of his romulan heritage than others had been. He quickly rose in rank and his superiors noticed Sirach also had a knack for command. He managed others in engineering well and the people under his command were very loyal to him. By this point Sirach was a Lt. Commander and the direct assistant to the Chief Engineer of the Yorktown.
He also was becoming a very valuable away team member, leading a number of crucial missions. Sirach enjoyed seeing new worlds and meeting various alien races. The Captain of the Yorktown started to suggest that young Sirach train for a bridge command position.
As his command training progressed, Sirach was enjoying his occasional time on the bridge. He was promoted to first officer after the previous first officer to a new starship command position. Around this time Sirach spent some time on the Rigel colonies for a brief shore leave. That is where he met the woman that would become his wife - Lydia. She was a human diplomat that visited various Federation colonies. The married quickly but had difficulty seeing each other for long stretches due to their careers.
Eventually Sirach was offered a command of his own after he was promoted to Captain of engineering of the Yorktown. He took awhile to decide, but he also knew he could then have his wife aboard his ship as a diplomatic officer. So Sirach took command of the Starship Atlantis.

edit - picture of his parents below:
Our Admiral has Romulan blood in his veins! Should be interesting
Half Romulan! So we can't see his long pointy ears then?
He has pointed ears - just a little less so than a normal Romulan or Vulcan.
Oooo....cool charcter Rico. I almost made my character a Romulan/Vulcan, but decided to go straight Vulcan.
Love this Rico, should add a nice flavor!
Very interesting.
Ryanlb, when are we gonna read your character profile?
It's been up for a few days. I noticed today that there are enough characters now, that mine and a couple others have been bumped to a second page. But it's also here (http://www.treksf.com/forums/index.php?topic=1533.0).
I'm doing some updates to my profile. More to come....
RPG Post Count (0 in Season 1) & (0 in Season 2)
Are you going to continue in Season 3?
If not do you want your character:
TRANSFERED, KIA (KILLED IN ACTION) or MIA (MISSING IN ACTION)
Thanks,
Commander Quinn
Yes - I will be there for season three. And I will be updating my character profile a bit more as well soon.
Hmm half Romulan Starfleet admiral, methinks section 31 might take an interest in him sometime soon (cue evil laugh)
