Title: Greetings, new member here
Post by: Kirk-Fu on January 30, 2007, 04:55:46 AM
Hello everyone(as Rico would say)
Im Gary, from the Orlando area of Florida. Been a listener since the beginning, but just
got off my lazy rear and finally joined the forums.

From my avatar you can tell im a TOS guy, but I am also a fan of all Trek. I would say in order of enjoyment, it would go:
TOS
Voyager
TNG
ENT
DS9

Im married, 3 kids, a US Navy Veteran, currently a blue collar drone.
My favorite shows are (aside from Trek) BSG, Rome, Deadwood, Sopranos, Ugly Betty,
and most Sci-Fi.
I am a casual comic book reader. Im not a fan of the Horror genre.

I started watching Star Trek in the early 70s, while growing up in Kentucky. Also was as blown away by Star Wars when it came out as most people were. Really dont care for the prequals. Also really enjoyed the Lord Of The Rings movies, although im not a big fan of the fantasy genre. I completely enjoy most cheesy 70s Sci-Fi, from BSG to the Six Million Dollar Man.
My favorite comics are usually DC, but my favorite hero is Iron Man.

Anyway, glad to be here, and will close out my disjointed rambling and head back to the main boards and see what i've been missing

Hey Kirk-Fu

Welcome to the forums.  It's good to have another Kirk avatar.  There can never be too much Kirk.

I think they are making an Iron Man movie.  Tony Stark is an interesting fellow.

Again, welcome.

Made all the more fun by watching Boston Legal and chuckling at all the "Star Trek" references....

Also welcome from another Star Wars fan as well as Trek.  Didn't like the prequels so much either.  Felt as though no one was willing to tell Lucas "Yeah, but this is junk" or "Dude, you're totally shooting out all the mysticism the entire Force".

*shrug*

Welcome to our happily dysfunctional family.

Welcome Kirk-fu, if you can snatch the action figure from Rico's hand, you can graduate!

welcome!  I hope you enjoy these forums.  The people here are great.

Iron Man is totally cool!  I just picked up the new DVD that was released.  It was good but strayed a bit from Canon.  Are you a Justice League fan also?

Thanks everyone for the nice welcome.
I picked up the Iron Man video last weekend, my kids have watched it all and I was kinda in and out on it, trying t watch it and take care of some things. What I saw looked great. I have to say, that DC has done a better job of it with their animated stuff, I can watch the Justice League stuff, and all the Batman series 24/7.
I didnt care for the Fantastic Four animated show from Marvel and didnt care for the 2nd Ultimate Avengers movie. Honestly I think they should Pay, Bribe, or Blackmail Bruce Timm and get him to run their animation dept.

I am primarily a DC guy, I have always felt their comics were less grounded in reality, which is what I want. Lots of out there high fantasy and fun. It's a comic book, not a documentary. Marvels Iron Man is just my favorite hero. Although I really havent enjoyed his more recent books. I am reading the Essentials to catch up on what I have missed over the years.
