Title: New SG-1 Movies
Post by: spidey27 on January 23, 2007, 05:34:39 PM
Details for the upcoming Stargate Movies :spidey

“Stargate: The Ark of Truth”
As SG-1 searches for an Ancient artifact which they hope can defeat the armies of the Ori, they learn more Ori ships are about to be sent through the supergate to launch a final assault on Earth. Daniel discovers that the artifact, the Ark of Truth, may be in the Ori home galaxy, and SG-1 embarks aboard the Odyssey to find it, and pre-empt the attack. The IOA has a plan of their own and SG-1 ends up in a distant galaxy fighting two powerful enemies.

“Stargate: Continuum”
While SG-1 attends the execution of Ba’al, the last of the goa’uld system lords, Teal’c and Vala inexplicably disappear into thin air. Carter, Daniel and Mitchell race back to a world where history has been changed: the Stargate program has been erased from the timeline. As they try to convince the authorities what’s happened, a fleet of goa’uld motherships arrives in orbit, led by Ba’al, his queen, Katesh, (Vala) and his first prime, Teal’c. SG-1 must find the Stargate and set things right before the world is enslaved by the goa’uld.

Studio Continues Record Breaking Franchise by Releasing

“Stargate: The Ark of Truth” and “Stargate: Continuum”

LOS ANGELES, CA â€" Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. (MGM), announced this past week the extension of the hit “Stargate SG-1” franchise with two movies based on the popular series. Titled “Stargate: The Ark of Truth” and “Stargate: Continuum”, the movies will both be made available to the television universe and home entertainment marketplace by MGM. The announcement was made by Charles Cohen, Senior Executive Vice President, MGM.

“Stargate SG-1” is to MGM Television what the ‘James Bond,’ ‘Pink Panther’ and the ‘Rocky’ franchises are to our feature film unit,” said Cohen. “We are committed to continuing to release new SG-1 content and its “Stargate Atlantis” spin-off, and we’re also steadfast in our dedication to extending the franchise. ‘Stargate’ is an indelible brand for MGM and we will support it well into the future.”

With its high quality production values, long-term stability in the show’s leadership and strong chemistry between the lead actors in the series, all of whom have big audience appeal, “Stargate SG-1” is the longest-running science-fiction series in U.S. TV history. The series has a strong worldwide fan base and can be seen in over 120 countries. “Stargate SG-1” cast members Ben Browder, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, Claudia Black and Michael Shanks are confirmed to star in both movies. Written and produced by Brad Wright and Robert Cooper, the new movies will feature the latest visual and sound effects, providing viewers with a theatrical movie-going experience.

In the first movie, “Stargate: The Ark of Truth” will bring a conclusion to the primary storyline of the past two seasons of the SG-1 television series. More thrills and action-packed scenes are planned for this special event movie, which will be directed by Cooper. The suspense will end as fans will see the conclusion of the epic Ori saga.

In the second movie, “Stargate: Continuum” the SG-1 team is now free to embark on new and exciting adventures throughout the endless Stargate universe.

Below are the synopses for the new “Stargate” movies:

Anderson Returns to SG-1 In the “Continuum”

Yesterday Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. made the announcement that all Stargate fans have been anxiously waiting to hear.

Richard Dean Anderson, long recognized as the history making show’s glue, will be returning to his role as General Jack O’Neill for the new straight-to-DVD movie “Stargate: Continuum.”

The first of two scheduled DVD movie events, “Continuum” will bring a close to the continuing Ori saga that started at the end of Season 8 of the 10 Season franchise. Joining Anderson will be series regulars Ben Browder, Amanda Tapping, Michael Shanks, Christopher Judge, Claudia Black, Beau Bridges and Gary Jones, along with many of the long running program’s regular guest stars.

Anderson is said to already be in route to meet up with Browder and Tapping at the U.S. Navy’s Applied Physics Laboratory Ice Station in the Artic Zone where location shooting begins in ernest in just two days.

“We’re thrilled to have Richard join us for Stargate: Continuum,” Brad Wright, co-creator, writer and co-producer of the Stargate franchise, said in an official press release. “As General Jack O’Neill, Richard brings both a sense of history and familiarity to the continuing adventures of the Stargate team. And we all recognize his value as the much-loved hero among the Stargate fan base.”

Looks cool, but I am so tired of the Ori storyline.

SG1 had the Goa'ulds as great villians, because when you wacked one they could introduce another.

The Ori are so....so...ick.

In addition to upcoming DVD releases Stargate: Continuum and Stargate: The Ark of Truth, MGM is developing a third series, tentatively titled "Stargate: Universe." No other details were available for the show, which will be added to SCI FI Channel's line-up of "Stargate SG-1" and "Stargate Atlantis."

Yeah Infinity was a spin off animated show, though if I recall it had nothing to do with the show, and only lasted half a season.

The show began with a movie and will be ending with a movie.  Nice.  I am glad the Ori saga will be wraped up with a feature film.  It'll also be interesting to see RDA return as "General O'Neill" in a movie featuring time travel.

“Stargate” movies delayed

The direct-to-home-theater “Stargate” movies are comingâ€"but it’s going to take a bit longer than expected.

20th Century Fox told Gateworld that the first movie, “Stargate: The Ark of Truth” has been pushed back until early 2008 and that the next film “Stargate: Continuum” will also be delayed. Tentative release dates are now March and October of next year, respectively.

“Ark of Truth” is set to resolve the two-year long story arc concerning the Ori and was eagerly anticipated by “Stargate” fans. No official word yet on why the movies have been delayed. “The Ark of Truth” has been in post-production for several weeks now and “Continuum” just finished up principal filming a few weeks ago.

There is some good news for SG-1 fans. On his TV Guide Blog, actor Michael Shanks stated that should the movies perform well, the studio is interested in producing two direct-to-home-theater “Stargate SG-1? films a year. Shanks told fans to “cross their fingers.” (It probably wouldn’t hurt to buy the disc when it comes out either.)

There is some speculation that the studio could order a third direct-to-home-theater “SG-1? movie before the release of the “The Ark of Truth.”

We’ll keep our eyes and ears open for any details and firm release dates as they become available.

I had been hoping for an SG-1 feature film featuring a Goa'uld assault on Earth ever since there were first talks of doing a movie (Stargate: The Lost City) to follow up the Season 6 finale.  Fortunately, we will see just that in the second movie, Stargate: Continuum.  It's fitting to have RDA return as General O'Neill in a story where Ba'al is the main villain.  Maybe we'll see a showdown between O'Neill and Ba'al?  That'd be awesome. :biggrin First, they have to wrap up the Ori saga with Stargate: The Ark of Truth, that ought to be a good movie.

Do you think that the Daniel Jackson stuck in Ancient Egypt from "Moebius" could have ascended and thus show up in one of the movies?  That'd be pretty cool.  Probably won't happen, but it's fun to think about. :biggrin

That's a lttle disappointing to hear the two films are delayed. And the second one delayed over a year? Oh well, I just hope the delay will result in a better films instead of some kind of rush jobs.

I don't mind The Ark of Truth being delayed to early 2008, but why is Continuum delayed until October?  That's crazy! :taz

MGM has confirmed that it will release the next Stargate SG-1 film titled "Stargate: Continuum" on July 29 release date. This is the second of Stargate SG-1 film going straight to standard DVD, plus this one will also be issued on Blu-ray. The first film, "Stargate: The Ark of Truth" has been a monumental success story, so the possibility for more after this next film is highly possible.

Continuum July Release Confirmed

MGM confirmed a July 29 release date for the second of its upcoming Stargate SG-1 straight-to-DVD movies, Stargate: Continuum, which will also be released on Blu-ray disc.

In the action-adventure movie based on the long-running SCI FI Channel series, members of SG-1 find themselves returning to a world where their history has been dramatically altered.

Continuum brings back original SG-1 star Richard Dean Anderson as Jack O'Neill, along with series regulars Ben Browder, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, Claudia Black, Beau Bridges and Michael Shanks.

Continuum was filmed partly in the Arctic and is the most ambitious Stargate production yet.

The disc will also feature commentary from producer/writer Brad Wright and director Martin Wood, as well as three making-of featurettes that explore how the U.S. military provided the production with a Navy nuclear submarine and F-15 fighter jets, what it was like shooting in the Arctic and how science and science fiction collide.  :spidey
