Not sure if this is the right place for this topic. If not, I apologise.
I had some thoughts on some possible ideas for future podcasts for Rico to mull over and thought I might post them here.
* Trek spin-off music
As in William Shatner's god-awful efforts (Mr Tamborine Man, etc) through to Nichelle Nicholls singing, Brent Spiner (he's good!), The Picard Song that's been on the internet recently, Star Trekkin' etc
(I have already sent Rico a couple of bits of music he might like to include at some time)
* Comedy in Trek
No, I am not talking about Spock's Brain! I mean the unique blend of comedy through the various Trek episodes.. from "Tribbles" through to Chekov's "faulty" Russian history, through to Data's attempts at humour/understanding of humanity.. even Voyager's "Bride of Chaotica" episode I thought was pretty funny.
* The Ultimate Crew
Who would you mix into your "Ultimate" crew from all the shows? eg: Kirk as Captain, Riker first officer, Spock science officer, Paris at the helm, Kyle on the transporter, etc etc... which ship (or station) would you prefer?
* What if?
Listener feedback time! What if Kirk was transported to Battlestar Galactica? What if LaForge found himself at the SGC? Mix your shows and characters up.... personally I'd love to get Jack O'Neil into a Trek episode somehow :)
* Fan films
A discussion of projects like "New Voyages" episodes out and possibly upcoming. These efforts are really good.
* non-canon Books (eg: Pocket)
Some great stories over the years in these series... discuss faveroutes and shockers!
Well just some thoughts....
on non-Trek topics...
* UK Sci-Fi: Space, 1999.. The Tomorrow People... Blake's 7.... Red Dwarf... Doctor Who... Hitch Hiker's Guide... what is it about the English and their "bent" on life that creates such a different kind of viewing experience to your average US show?
* Fantasy vs. Science fiction
* A Babylon 5 podcast (please!) :)
I have talked about a few of those items already, but several good suggestions there. There is an excellent Babylon 5 podcast out there already. I think it's called Sci-Fi Dig. I have talked a little on Space: 1999 before, but still want to give it a full show sometime. I am also going to cover more music sometime fairly soon - thanks for the clips by the way. And thanks for the ideas, I'll keep them in mind.
The Babylon Podcast is THE best B5 podcast out there.. I guess when I mentioned B5 I thought I would be interested in your take on the show - that is if you ever watched it or got into it.
cheers!
Yep - I watched the entire series and loved it. I'll probably do a show on it sometime too.
