Title: KOTOR
Post by: Four Lights on January 09, 2007, 11:05:37 AM
Anybody play Knights of the Old Republic out there?

It's a great game, and a long one at that... but still worth playing. :trooper

I played through it once on the X-Box.  I enjoyed it a lot.  It was really easy to choose the light side but extremely hard to choose to do some really nasty things (like kill a friendly NPC just so I wouldn't have to pay her for the item I needed at the time.)  The storyline and combat system were top-notch.

I need to play KOTOR II whenever my bro lets me borrow his X-Box again.  :troopersmile

In KOTOR II you don't get a lightsabor until like a 1/4 through the game... which makes it not as good as the first... but I did like the storyline in the 2nd one... it was a little too much like the first though... It had a few upgrades... but still... I liked the first one the most.

KOTOR was one of the best times I had with my original Xbox.  I absolutely LOVED playing Pazaak, and had a killer deck that totally dominated every npc I came across.  KOTOR II didn't grab me as much as the first game, and I got stuck at one point and didn't bother continuing.  I might pick it up at some point because both games are backwards compatible on 360, but considering all the gaming I have backlogged (I still havent played ST Legacy past the first level) it is more likely that I won't be playing KOTOR until the next gen version III is released.

KOTOR is my favorite game of all time. And I love that era within the Star Wars Timeline.  I've played KOTOR I many, many times (twice on the x-box and numerous times on the PC)...but I can NEVER, EVER bring myself to be anything but lightside. I just feel guilty being so bad; it doesn't help that my in-game support characters chide me for doing the "evil tasks" the game requires in order to become a darkside character. Guess I'm a goody-goody.

KOTOR II was great up until the end, which was a let down. You could tell it was rushed. It was  a disappointment...but the story leading up to that awful ending was good.

Lucas Arts has stated in an article that the KOTOR and Republic Commando franchise are not dead.  So keep on the look out for news of KOTOR III, and post it here as soon as you learn something CONCRETE. There's a lot of rumors, so just post news you've heard from Lucas Arts if you hear something interesting.

Glad I'm not the only one who loves this game.  :cheering

I love KOTOR. One of the best games I've ever played on any platform.

And, just like you guys, I could never do anything dark sided to people. I loved to see the blue glow on my character all the time. heh

I also had a hard time being bad in KOTOR.

My fear was that in many previous games (Ultima IV was one of the first) when you did something bad it could mess things up in the game.  Even though I knew that you could do it..I just have been conditioned to play safely.

That could be why I had a hard time being bad, although I wanted to just to do something a little different.

I know what you mean about doing something different. I've played it "lightside" so many times, the temptation to go "darkside" for a change of pace is hard to resist. But... I Just...can't...seem...to bring...myself to do it. Its not in my nature to be mean, even to an NPC. If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny. Yoda was no slouch...I think I'll take his advice. :)
