Title: Cylon mini-bust
Post by: the_wasd_man on December 30, 2006, 03:12:22 PM
Well, I haven't seen any topics about this, but I just got a Cylon mini-bust for Christmas, made by Art Asylum and man, is it pretty: :cylon

It's limited to 1000, and apparently I got #1. It's probably just a printing error... I mean, what are the odds, right?

Has anyone else gotten it?

I've been tempted by that but I'm leaning more towards the 12" full version coming out soon of the centurion.  Hey, cool Trek poster behind.  Not sure I recognize it?

Yeah, the 12" figure looks real nice, I might be getting that too. ;)

But the bust itself is really nice, and BIG. something like 7.5" I think.

btw, that poster comes in some of the old AMT Star Trek models. I don't think you can find it anywhere else. ;)

That is a nice looking Mini Bust and low edition size. Where did you get it?

Darn, they're going quite cheaper on eBay than what I originally paid. Huh, probably should of better reseached this one.  :-\

Had a look on ebay, and saw a few, so will have to sleep on it tonight, I really like the mini bust, but with the 12 inch figure coming out, might want to go that way. The Bust is well priced, so if I can find one with decent shipping, might go for it.

I have the 12" Cylon on order for a late Christmas gift to my Uncle who loves BSG as much as I do. I took a chance they would be out by the 25th, but no such luck. Say, post a bigger pic of that Enterprise diagram in the background!

Yeah, I don't think it's supposed to come out untill sometime in January. ;)

And by popular demand:

edit: ah, that's right. We can upload stuff here. ;)

Ever since WASD Man posted his pic of his Cylon Mini Bust, I have been wanting one. I would think about it, look around, then talk myself out of it. Rico finally pushed me over the edge a few weeks ago when he did a review of the one he recently got on the podcast. I had seen it on Most Wanted Collectibles site for 30 dollars, so I grabbed it. Thanks guys... I Think ;)

You'll like it Jeff.  Big and heavy and well worth the $30.  :)

30$? Aw man, I paid like twice that, plus S/H to canada... eh, it was worth it.

Big and heavy is right, Rico. Heh, right now it's holding up by BSG DVDs :D

Looks Like Diamond Select is coming out with a new Cylon Mini Bust. Gentle Giant  sculpted this one. Looks great, a real step up from the previous one.

Not Your Parents' Cylon...

Today Diamond Select Toys is ready to reveal one of the upcoming busts in the ongoing line of Battlestar Galactica collectibles.  Possibly the most terrifying addition to this Reimagined series, the deadly Cylon Centurions are capable of untold death and destruction thanks to their talon-like claws and fondness for double-barreled machine guns.  Now you too can construct an army of near-unstoppable Cylon warriors with this Battlestar Galactica Cylon Centurion Bust!

Sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios
Limited to 2,000 pieces
Measures 6 ΒΌ inches tall

Each Cylon Centurion Bust features a numbered base with matching box and Certificate of Authenticity.  Look for pre-orders on this item to begin this November and keep coming back to Diamond Select Toys for more updates and sneak peeks at upcoming products!

That thing looks pretty nice.  I'm kind of worried about that "limited to 2000 pieces" part, though.  I'm gonna have to see if it is up for preorder; I'd hate to pay ebay scalper prices for it.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Neat!  The first bust was quite nice.  But where is his other arm?  LOL!

I never understood why they made these busts with no arms or one arm. I know technically a bust shouldn't have arms (actually I always thought a bust was shoulders up), but if you're doing waist up there should be arms in there somewhere!

I was wondering if his other arm is just hidden in that picture.  I haven't seen too many one armed mini busts.

Since it is sculpted by Gentle Giant, I would think it would have two arms, the other might be behind it. That being said, Gentle Giant Started Star Wars line with no arms, then the first Vader and the Boba Fett had one arm, so this might be similar. I am hoping not as if it has the arm behind it, gives more display options. hopefully there will be some more pictures of more angles, when the preorders come out on this, I will definitely preorder.

Collector newb question: how much do these mini busts usually go for?
Title: Re: Cylon mini-bust

The regular (Star Wars) Gentle Giant mini-busts average around $45 to $65 when first released.  Depending on the popularity of the piece, some can go for a little higher on the secondary market.  If I'm not mistaken, this looks like the same size as the GG mini busts.  If the "limited edition" doesn't factor into the price, I'd guess the new Cylon will be around $65.

Oh wow, that's pretty reasonable. I was thinking they'd be a couple of hundred.

I got my New Cylon Minibust the other Day. It looks really cool, got a low number in 175 out of 2000. It is a bit smaller then I was expecting, and smaller then the previous one, but more detail, comes with arms, and a cooler pose. Sorry for the Dark picture, will take a better one on the weekend
