Thought I would start a thread for the new Ghostbusters reboot I have been reading about:

Howard was talking about it this morning..... Kristen Wigg is funny on both TV and the big screen ,but Melissa McCarthy just doesn't seem to come across that well in her movies (Her last three movies bombed) She is very funny on Mike & Molly.
Is it supposed to be a continuation of the series - or a reboot.
Howard! :) I used to listen to him when he was on the airwaves (since I am too cheap to buy satellite radio!). Used to love his old channel 9 TV show back in the late 80's.
How can you be a fan and not pay $10 a month to hear Howard... you missed out on the last 10 years of priceless radio......Hey Now! Channel 9 show was awesome.... 90-93.
I always remember the snapple girl being on the show. Such a funny program.
I'm the rarity that was never a huge fan of the "Ghostbusters" films and just found them ok. So, this reboot doesn't hold much appeal for me, although I do like Kristen Wigg.
It's a reboot, which is why I'm disappointed. This is an idea that could have easily just been a continuation... but no. We are going to have to be subjected to yet another reboot and origin story. Joy.
That being said I'm cautiously optimistic. It's in better hands than Dan Akyroyds; he lost it as a writer about 20 years ago.

I'll see it, but don't really care about the franchise. Agree on Kristen Wigg!
ugh.. reboot fatigue. :ohwell
I agree, but money talks. We are paying to see them. I guess a reboot is a surer bet than a gamble on something new.
With the recent passing of Harold Ramis (who was instrumental in honing in Dan Akroyd's bloated script), and Bill Murray's continuous refusal to participate, any real excitement I had about seeing the series continue is greatly diminished. The new cast hasn't done anything to change this. I'll probably see it because I do love the first two (yes even 2), but especially because my younger son has been a HUGE fan of the movies for years and I know he'll want to go. He's watched the first two probably thirty times each.

OMG I remember loving that channel 9 show. Has it ever been made available on DVD? I'll bet it's on You Tube, gotta check. Listening to Howard on WYSP every morning was such a joy from my childhood. I'll never forget finding out about 9/11 from listening to his show. I tune in once in a while when clips from his satellite broadcasts are up on the web, but I just don't have hours a day to listen to him anymore. I guess I could stop listening to most of the podcasts I subscribe to and just listen to Howard, but I think that would get old fast.
Dude ... your missing out on allot of great entertainment Howard 100 and 101 spend the few bucks and get the app for your phone. The shows repeat all day long so you never miss out on anything....No excuses. Bababooey to you all.
Yeah, WYSP was his first simulcast station. I used to listen on KROC out of NYC when I was commuting to Newark all the time. I love the old characters from the whack pack - like Cpt. Jenks, Beetlejuice, Sal the Stockbroker, etc.
I'll have a look for the channel 9 shows. I always remember that spoof of Awakenings he did - he had Siskel & Ebert on to criticise his mini film. Too funny.

But no Artie! Don't you miss him? Did they ever replace him?
I say this with Peace and love peace and love (if you listened to the show you would know what that means) Fat drug addicted Artie is not missed man. The show has got better and the Whack pack Rocks! There was no need to replace him.
Artie is gone? Stuttering John left as well, right? I always loved Jackie The Jokeman. (I hear that inane music whenever I think about him!).
Artie was fired for coming into work high on Heroine and falling asleep while stoned on the air numerous times, then a failed suicide attempt. Stuttering John left over ten years ago to wa wa wa work for Jay leno and F Jackie...
Fred still there? Wow, Artie is a real train wreck.
