Title: New Stargate Movie
Post by: falconer on September 05, 2013, 04:15:37 PM
It looks like a new Stargate movie is in the works, and it looks like a reboot, with no connection to the series or original movie.

Can't say I'm looking forward to this  :(

I think it's a mistake to disenfranchise your existing fanbase but what do I know? I doubt I will see it unless it gets rave rave reviews. I like Stargate the way it is in the TV series, and no matter what he says, the series was far better than his original movie. The only good thing is that it maybe could generate renewed interest in the TV franchise.

Well if Star Trek can get a reboot, Stargate certainly can. It doesn't have near the amount of fans that Trek does. Stargate is a fun concept, I'm interested to see what can be explored....BUT what is the last reboot/remake that topped the original.? I'm saying The Thing.

Stargate is not widely famous as Star Trek, but it is loved just as much by the fans, and it deserves to be left alone. I'd rather see a new series than a reboot.

Yeah, a new series instead of a movie. I want to know what happened to the ship in SGU.

Emmerich had wanted to get it back for years. He hatred what MGM did with it in SG-1 (ironically on of the best sci fi shows out there).

The original movie was good but it is missing many great concepts that were developed in SG-1 that he won't have the right to use (Goauld, Jaffa, symbiotes, possibly multiple gates etc).

Oh and he did make Stargate II it became Independence Day. They reworked the script...

I didn't care for movie nearly as much as the three series. That said, I'll give it a shot if they manage to do this.
