ok, besides the enterprise what ship do you like the STAR TREK universe.
mine is akira( i think that is the name) it was in first contact
DEFIANT. Pew, pew. Tough little ship. Design work shows that a Trek ship can depart from the two body, pylons and nacelled look. Perfect for DS9. Worf slept there.
I'm with Chris the NX-74205 USS Defiant!!
cool topic. Oh yeah that akira class rocks! Defiant is a solid choice as well...good for ass-kicking.
I've always been partial to the insanely long-serving Miranda class and it's chubby offspring(?), the Nebula class. Here they are flying together (along with a sad little oberth :'(). I kinda see the Akira as a natural design progression from Miranda and Nebula.
i like the USS Defiant, and you are right chris, i would love to see a enterprise size defiant, a single body starship. i wish i understood the idea for the way the original enterprise was designed. i like it, but i can see the single part body as being a lil better, but hey i don't kknow what was told to the designers for the show.
For some reason I always liked the tug that was featured in the original tech manual. I always thought it's be cool to do a show on one of these. Kind of a different take on the universe, we always look at things from the angle of the best of the best of Starfleet (though DS9 might be a bit of an exception). Why not have a show that looks at the small crew of a utility vessel like this.
I personally like the Prometheus class experimental ship (voyager, "message in a bottle") episode because I think the concept of having a ship that splits into three smaller warp capable ships and forms its own assault force is nifty. I want one:)
billybob, I would take a show based on any type of ship. Voyager wasn't that big and it was a good show.
Does fan fiction count here?
Take a look at the aurora, an old battle cruiser from the Romulan war turned into a merchant ship.

There's also a freighter in this fan film. It looks like a big space tug.
oh yeah, regarding 'drex files' stamp on the akira pic... I hope he puts his blog back up some day :(

Yeah, I really like that ship too...even if it is a little fanboyish. It does take the saucer sep to the next level.

Yeah, I love Drex fies...he has a couple youtube vids that are pretty cool. That ship is along the lines of what I always figured a pre-1701 ship would look like.
I have always been a fan of the Klingon Battle Cruisers
I always really liked the Reliant, but also even though I think we only saw it the once in Voyager the Prometheus. (Kind of a hard pick here, also really love the Klingon Bird of Prey.)
Personally a fan of the Sovereign class. The sleek design makes it one of my favorites. I was ecstatic when I got to command the USS Sovereign in the old Bridge Commander game for PC many years back. One of my favorite Star Trek games too, I should consider giving it another look now that I've got a PC powerful enough to handle it...
Yeah the Sovereign class is a sexy ship. Nice middle ground in size between the constitution class and the galaxy.
For non-starfleet, I gotta go with the BoP. Especially some prototype fire-while-cloaked goodness ;)

Always been partial to TNG era Romulan Warbirds :)
I love the TNG Romulan ships... way cool looking
The TNG Romulan Warbird is my favorite non Starfleet ship. Always loved seeing it on the show. Very disappointed it wasnt in the Nemesis movie. I was so looking foward to seeing it and it never showed up!
