WOW!  That's great.  I have many of those figures too.  But stored mainly away in boxes since I was running out of room.  Very cool stuff you have there.  I see you're a "Buffy" fan as well.  I love that show too!  Where do you buy most of your figs?  Stores or online?

Yeah I have all the Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Star Wars, E.T.,  Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings figures. I also collect alot of other misc TV shows/movies  ie. smallville, the tick, the matrix and many more.

Most of this stuff I have hunted down from store to store over the years. Use to be a game and alot of fun. Nowadays since time is limited I still hunt from time to time, but find less so I resort to internet and sometime even Ebay (or as I like to call it Evil-bay).

I found these really cool Narnia Figures. Hasbro made some but they are really cheesy and are really for kid. These figures are made exclusively for The Disney Store. They are really detailed.

Post by: Picard_delta_5 on April 16, 2006, 09:13:44 PM
lol, well, if they are really cool, its fun to play with them, ie; i just bought a jedi starfighter... i couldnt help myself and i opened it, it was well worth it though. very cool, i spent like 15 minutes putting on all the stickers, then i was carrying it around the house with me the rest of the night making flying sounds and spinning it upside down, lol. It says ages 4 and up on the box, but i dont think a 4 year old can actually appreciate its coolness.
Title: Re: My Toy Room
Post by: Rico on April 17, 2006, 04:36:11 AM
I generally don't open my the figures I get, but a few select ones I have.  The prop replicas I do display and those can be handled and looked at.  Although I try to keep that to a minimum in order to keep them in good shape.  The exception is the Force FX lightsabers, those just have to be played with and swung around.  ;)
Title: Re: My Toy Room
Post by: Picard_delta_5 on April 17, 2006, 04:07:24 PM
yes, i don't like to open figures, but if i get a ship or something, i usually cant help myself... same thing with the playmate phasers. and yeah, Force FX lightsabers are fun, i think they were designed more for play then display (yeah, that rhymes). my one complaint about Force FX is that because they are plastic, they slide off of eachother and you can't get a good saber lock, but what can you do.... they are probably the best sabers out right now.
Title: Re: My Toy Room
Post by: Jen on April 19, 2006, 11:38:57 AM
Wow Kenny! I'm impressed with your ability to leave them in the package. I never could do that. I bought a few of the Star Trek figures a few years ago...I couldn't help it, I had to open the package so that I could hold it in my hand! The little kid in me is very insistant.  I used to play with Star Wars figures when I was little...I had no interest in Barbies...my goal was to have enough Storm Troopers to form battalions so that I could line them up for Vader to walk past. I was only 3 when the first movie came out, so you can imagine what happened to all my figures by the time I was 9 ( I think that's how old I was when ROTJ came out)...Yep, I lost them. I still have a few of the ships, but they aren't in good condition.  *sigh*
Title: Re: My Toy Room
Post by: Geekyfanboy on April 19, 2006, 02:27:05 PM
Hey Jen.. yeah it's tough to not open things and hold them in your hands.. but if I really want to hold them I buy two of them and open one  :P My friends always make fun of me when I open figures.. they say it looks very painful because of my facial expressions  :biggrin

I wish I had all my Star Wars stuff from when I was a kid.. I do have about 30 figures still, of course they are all well played with but I don't have ships or playsets anymore  :(

Another reason I like keeping the figures in the packaging is because they are easier to display.

You are right; you'll need a lot of space with your great collection Startrekfanatic5. But the most important, believe me, is a comprehensive wife!!! Lol.

I like collectibles but I don’t buy everything anymore. When I was younger, it was different though.

I buy only those I find really well made with a good price value. You should check the McFarlanes Toys (you probably already know this anyway.) The paint job are awesome and they cost around 12$/each.

I think that Hasbro should raise the bar of their lines and drop the price of the Star Wars line. The vehicles are great but the 3’1/2 figures are expensive compare to the competition.

Post by: Eric on April 28, 2006, 07:25:33 PM
The unleashed series is great, but expensive. Some of them are hard to find now! They did a great job with that line!

Well luckily I don't have to worry about a wife :)

And I agree I love the Star Wars Unleashed series. I have all of them but the Stormtrooper.. still not willing to pay $100 bucks for him.

And I love McFarlane.. I"m currently collecting the Dragon series.. so far I have series one, and they are awesome.

Hi guys...Well, I've taken my first step at collecting. I just bought two Star Wars Saga ROTS figures.  Planning to pick up two or three every payday.  Your collections are very inspiring. As I stood in the toy isle looking at the various assortments of SW figures, I suddenly remembered how difficult it was to choose just one... as a little kid with a few dollars of allowance money burning a hole in my pocket, it took quite a while for me to finally choose. I haven't thought about that in a long time. It all came back to me yesterday, and it took just as long to decide. I picked up Anakin and Obi-Wan, since there were only one each hanging on the pegs...Going to try to get the Firespeeder Pilot and Holographic Ki-Adi -Mundi figures tomorrow. They had a couple of those yesterday...Hope they're still there tomorrow.

I've really been enjoying the Star Wars Action News Podcast.  It's a husband and wife team that both love Star Wars and podcast about SW collecting.  They do a great show.  It's getting me tempted to start buying more action figures again.  I used to buy more of those but kind of moved off to the prop stuff more.  If you want to know more about their podcast, check out this link:   http://www.swactionnews.com/

I couldn't afford to keep up with Star Wars figures... I'm a completist so I have to have them all. So I didn't collect anything from the last two movies.  :(
Title: Re: My Toy Room
Post by: Picard_delta_5 on May 06, 2006, 01:09:03 PM
yeah, in general i haven't been buying a lot of sw stuff from the last 3 movies... the earlier stuff from around 95-97 is still cheap, and its a bit rarer (and cooler)... lucky for me there is a store in chicago that is like Kenny's house but way better...  (i know its hard to believe but I'm serious) Its called Quake Collectables... it has weird store hours but its amazing, mostly figures, but also some plates, shirts, etc... whatever you can think of.... and the guy who owns it is a huge sci fi fan so there is a bit of everything...

anyone in the area should check it out... if you go there and buy anything say that Sam told you about it, if he doesn't know what your talking about, say the kid who loves Star Trek...  (if anyone is in chicago on a vacation or something, i would seriously recommend checking this place out)

If it's called Quake Collectibles, then why is there a picture of Quisp on the ad?

This is Quake:

Let's just say I'm only slightly younger than Rico  :biggrin  Besides, one of my other pastimes (apart from sci-fi) is cartoons.  Quisp and Quake ads used to run fairly often during Saturday-morning cartoons when I was a kid.  I've often been tempted to pick up this set (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=MJ2748104AA") of Quisp action figures.

I snagged this particular cereal ad from Toyadz.com during a Google search.  Finding pictures of Quisp is easy, Quake is quite a bit tougher.

Sorry about the broken link.  Try this one (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=MJ2748104AA) instead.

As for which cartoon, well I preferred Quake cereal but liked the Quisp commercials better.  I think it was the nutty voicework of Daws Butler (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daws_Butler).

Highlight the word you want linked, then click the Insert Hyperlink button (underneath the Underline button).  This will put url tags around your word.  In the first tag, put an = after url and then put the entire web address in there like this:

Do not delete the second url tag with the slash or your link won't work. (http://www.treksf.com)

I've really been on the fence with the TNG figures because there are so many of them, but they look terrific.  These are easily the best Trek action figures ever produced.  It's a real shame that these don't have mainstream support like the old Playmates figures.
Title: Re: My Toy Room
Post by: Geekyfanboy on May 27, 2006, 12:41:32 PM
Yeah I agree.. these are by far the best produced ST figures. And to be honest if they had mainstream appeal then they won't look this good. These figure cost about $14.99 each if you can find them and playmate cost about 5.99 each. I guess you get what you pay for.

Alas, they are all in the sandbox.  Yes, I kept them all nice, but now they get buried and stuff.  It's fun in a different way.

These were great Pictures. It is always nice to peoples collections, and what they have. I find looking at the Star Trek figures to be very interesting, as it is not often I get to see pictures of them. I have a lot of Star Wars action figures, but I am working myself off of them a bit, and going more for props and some of the higer end pieces like Rico. I keep some of my figures carded, and others loose. My collection is in a bit of a transition right now, as I deciding what I want to keep and what not to. I live in a house, but it definitely takes up a lot of room, and I have the whole basement set aside for it. Once I get more of a focus, then I will post some picks of my collection.

Looking forward to seeing more of your pics in the future, they are great.

Yeah space is always an issue with me. I have a second bedroom and bathroom that is nothing but my collection. I have shaved a bit off my collection because of the room and I have at times thought about selling my entire lot.. but of course I know I can't do that. I've been collecting far to long and it has brought a lot of joy to my life. Just wish I had the room to really display my stuff... maybe one day.

Buffy Comic #1 (they sent me #2 but forgot #1)

Then I got series one of the new Harry Potter Figures from NECA. They are AWESOME.. I'll be sure to post some pixs when I get a chance.

And for all you Firefly Fan... I got Blueprints of the Serenity ship. They are wonderfully done and very detailed. There are 10 of them and they cover every inch of the ship. They made only 750 sets. Well worth the $99 dollars. You can check them out here http://blog.quantummechanix.com/insider_images/issue_1.1/QMx_Serenity_Blueprints_bg.pdf

Well today I got over 200+ Star Trek playmate action figures. One of the Star Trek boards I belong too had someone who was selling off there entire "loose" figure collection for $150.00 shipped. I couldn't pass up the deal. I have all the figures mint in packages but few of them were loose. Today I got the figures and I was like a geeky kid at Christmas. So many figures and all of them I can actually touch and check out up close. I'll post some pixs when I get a chance.

Today I got more of the TNG action figures. Diamond Select Toys have been producing these the past few years and they are fantastic. With this wave I got Beverly Crusher in her Seventh Season outfit as well as seen in All Good Things... I also got Wesley Crusher and the famous Q. Both Beverly figures are fantastic, they have great detail. Q look pretty good and from certain angles he looks just like him. Then we have Wesley.. at least that's what the packaging says. I don't think he looks anything like him. Maybe if you look at him from a certain angle he may look somewhat like Wesley. I'm suprising because DST likeness have been dead on. I have already ordered the next and final wave of TNG figures. Which will include Nemesis Beverly, Miles O'Brien, Ensign Ro and Nurse Ogawa.

I got the new UK Harry Potter figures, More US Harry Potter figures, UK Doctor Who figures and I just ordered my set of Goonies action figures.. can't wait to get those.. of course all of these are for Christmas so I won't really get to see them until then.. but it's been a pretty good few months in Kenny's collecting world or course my pocket book isn't liking it much.  I'll take some pixs and post them as soon as I can.

I saw the Beverly Picard figure at Hastings...I wanted to buy it..but I didn't think it looked like her. The one you have pictured next to that looks better. Yeah, Wes doesn't look very Wes... I saw the Data one from Nemisis (I think). He was wearing all black. Looked great. Do  you have that one?

Yeah it's funny when people come over and check out the toy room they always ask.. is this new.. is that new.. and most of the time I say nope.. had it for years. That it's one thing many people like about my toy room is you can see it over and over and never see everything. :)

Half of me would like to have that sort of collection, but then my feminine side kicks in and screams, "All those toys would ruin my cottage decor Jen!" :D I wish I could see that collection in person. Looks AWESOME.

I've been collecting the Star Wars Bobble heads for my office... I haven't found the Gamorian Guard or the Stormtrooper I want. I've seen plenty of Jawas and Han Solos though. Anyway, everyone seems to like them. Even people who have no idea who or what they are.  Angela liked them. I bought a Jawa for baby Russell's room. He has an R2D2 C3P0 cardboard cut out and his room is R2 Blue. :)

I live in a townhouse, so my basement is probably half sized to a regular basement, and it is full. I have made a conscious decision to not let it over run the house, partly for the reasons Jen gave, and the other reason so that each time I go downstairs it feels special. I have been looking off and on for a house the past few months, and I seem to be only concerned about where I would display my collection (I know, really lame). I struggle with how to display things, for me, it is one of those things which is harder then I expected.

It is very nice to have my own little "domain."  But it does fill up fast.  Plus I have my big TV, computer, etc. in the basement as well.  So it isn't all collectibles.  When it starts to get a little overloaded I pack some stuff away.  My dream would be to have several rooms, each dedicated to a theme - one Trek, on Star Wars, on other, etc.  One day.  One day!

I know some of those Playmates ships are becoming somewhat rare. A mint Excelsior can go for $150-$200 in the box. What do you recon to be the most highly valued of your collection?

Besides a few fun things I still have, a couple of years ago I stumbled upon a complete set of the 12 original Star Wars 12-Back figures including a vinyl cape Jawa and a double telescoping Ben Kenobi figure, one of only three ever found. I sold the lot for $13,000 and went on vacation to New Zealand!

As for my most valuable collectible.. that's tough to say. Since I don't plan to sell anything I don't tend to look for value on my things. I know back in the day when playmates Star Trek figures were hot I had a Picard worth $1500 but I doubt he's worth that much now.

Well after I pre-ordered these over a year and a half they finally arrived today.

All four figures are OUTSTANDING. Ro and Beverly are 100% right on the mark. O'Brien is great and I love Nurse Ogawa and from certain angles it looks like her. But I'm very happy with all four figures.

The latest ST:TMP figures have been in packaging with an updated style.

I should post some pics of my Kirk/Spock 2-pack.  I'll try to do that today.

I am sure it will take a while with amount of toys you have. The tough things with Collectibles, is that you have to handle them much more carefully then with other items. Do you have boxes set aside for them? I know for myself, I bought some bins from Walmart to move my toys. I hired movers, but I am going to move the toys myself, as I know what is in the boxes and bins. Good luck on your move, I am sure it is going to be an exciting next few months for you.
