A special show for everyone this week. Chris and I got together and talked about DS9 for a couple hours to celebrate it's 20th Anniversary. We talk favorite episodes, characters, story arcs, and other details about this awesome Trek series. I hope everyone enjoys this different and more conversational show about DS9.

Looking foward to this. I'm a huge DS9 fan.
Awesome this will be my mid week show when i need a happy pick up :)
Hard to believe its been 20 years!
Nice review guys, lots of audio clips too - yay!
DS9's strong start about conflict was unexpected and is what grabbed my interest from the beginning.
Glad you both mentioned 'Far Beyond the Stars', from season six as a favorite.
A story by Marc Scott Zicree who also wrote the creepy Riker/TNG episode 'First Contact', and the Star Trek: Phase 2 episode 'World Enough and Time'.
Zicree also did a first season episode for B5 called 'Survivors', a powerful story that explored ethics in medicine.
Also happy you guys brought up the DS9 and B5 flame wars between the rabid fans. Even though both shows are unique, they did share plenty of positive things including Jeffery Combs who once played a Psi-Cop.
btw...like Gollum and the ring, Warner Brothers owns B5 and jealously guards it. They're quite mad really.
Glad you enjoyed it Dave. I had SO many clips pulled but couldn't use even half of them, our conversation was just too much fun. I just had to put that bit of Quak doing Picard's line from First Contact, I remember laughing out loud the first time I saw that. Like you, I'm about as big a B5 fan as I am a DS9 fan, and I really never got into that fight.
Glad I got to do this with Rico, he's da MAN!
Great podcast Chris and Rico! I didn't watch DS9 during its first run. I was busy watching B5. I didn't discover DS9 until it was off the air. Looking back, I should have gotten over being a TOS purist. DS9 is some of the best Star Trek out there. I can honestly say that I like DS9 and B5. It's the best of both worlds. Thanks for doing such a great show!

This was the fan-trailer I sampled at the beginning of the podcast, it's been one of my favorites for a couple years.
I've only been able to listen to the first half hour and so far AWESOME! LOVE IT! Thanks guys.
I have only got through about 20 min. during lunch. I got mad because I had to go back to work!
Just finished it. GREAT stuff. I could have listened for a couple more hours , that's how good it was. THANK FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK! NICE!
Glad you guys are enjoying it. It was fun to work with a co-host again. I need to do that more when I can.

We should try for doing a joint review/discussion on the next TOS episode I cover.
Any time my man!
Well done, guys! I really enjoyed this episode.
I really love this conversational approach, it really works. Nice and relaxed. It was really nice to hear an honest appraisal of this series, as well as some of the asides about other Trek stuff.
Definitely looking forward to a Rico/Bryan conversation!

Yeah, I'd like to hear that one too...could go on for ages.. ;)
Glad everyone liked it, I prefer the conversational way of doing things, like I do in my living room when a friend and I are discussing Trek or anything.

Ditto.
Looking forward to your next one.
It was great hearing you guys talk about DS9 even more so as I am in the process of re-watching the entire series on Netflix. I am at the start of Season 2 and it's just so terrific and to the point of what you guys discussed.
I am going to give this show another rewatch. I ALWAYS lose interest midway through season 1 so I think I'll start with S02 this time. Yay Netflix+iPad!
I'm on season 4 on netflix. 'Little Green Men' was the last one we watched. Love that episode. And season 1 of TOS. Just watched Galieo Seven.
still listening/enjoying, loved the Man from Uncle tie-in!

Really loved the podcast. DS9 is my favorite series. I watch my DVD' s a lot. So many great characters. Just watched " In the Pale Moonlight" and realizing how good the script for that was. I remember disliking Kira at the beginning but liking her by the end. Still think Kai Wynn is one of the best villains b/c she's just so completely self interested.
Also, I liked the observation about an anthology style series, which would be neat. Possible? maybe. I think it would give the Trek universe some depth.
Wonder if you'll do a Voyager discussion b/c it always seems to bring out passionate feelings in people. I actually liked Janeway. She was best in the darker episode when she got to be strategic and manipulative. I thought Paris and B' elana were the problem.
Gents, I have to say this was one of the best TSF episodes I have heard. I loved the banter, the facts and the choice of clips. I miss DS9 and listening today I too am crossing my fingers and hoping for a Blue-Ray release. Seriously great podcast and I hope to hear another joint one from you both again.

High praise, Meds, thanks very much. When you work with Rico it's pretty easy!
I finished listening to this last night and it was an awesome podcast. So many great clips and you guys shared a ton of great and interesting info. You guys mentioned some of my favorite episodes but one I really like is 'Valiant' from season 6. And my favorite characters were Sisko and Bashir so I'm glad the Bashir character stuck around.
Great job, Gentlemen!
I just listen to the podcast the other night. Great podcast guys. DS9 was my fave of the series. they always had someting going on while on the station. so may aliens and situations it was never a dull moment. also I think it was more about us than exploring some planet which made it different. one ep that stands out for me is when Sisco make a speech about security after the dommion shape shifters were committing terrorist acts on Earth. it pallaled 911 at least for or five years. Sisko remarked about how it was more important to preseve are civil liberties than security.
Ditto to what the others said. That was a really classic episode and well worth the time invested in listening to it. I hope you had as much fun recording it.
Speaking for myself, it was a blast doing it! In my mind I could do about 10 on Deep Space Nine alone.
