I can't wait to listen to this podcast!
Looking forward to this one.
Going to go download right now and listen to it during my lunch break.
Awesome job, Vartok! Good info and some cool music to start my day, you reminded me how much I love the music from Hoosiers.
Thanks Vartok, I always look forward to your guest spots and this podcast did not disappoint. I'm sure I'll listen to this more than once.
Vartok great podcast as always .... Jerry Goldsmith = Genius

I just listened to the podcast last night and tweeted about it. Vartok did an excellent job once again filling in for Rico. Goldsmith was so prolific and his music was great.
Excellent podcast once again vartok. Great music and what a range of films! Informative and a great listen.
Very much appreciated.
Thank you.
Tremendous work as always, Vartok. Incredible comprehensive and detailed, one of the best ever my man!
You honored Jerry Goldsmith well, thanks for a good show.
Thank you all for your generous comments. I am good for one of these about once a year - I put about 50 hours into the music collection, script preparation, sound mixing, yada yada yada. I truly believe that Jerry was so well-liked and respected because he wrote melodies that naturally bring you along. I found myself knowing where a melody was going many times (you could complete a refrain), or on the second time through was humming along because his melodies are so easy for us to follow. The "good" news is that he composed over 60 soundtracks and I only own 24 of them - I can still collect for many years to come!! The man was a musical genius IMHO.

PS. I noted I don't have the Explorers soundtrack - here is a 15 minute suite of the 1985 movie on YouTube - you will probably recognize this one also.

Really great podcast. I really enjoyed hearing so many different tracks from so many different movies and TV. I was saying to myself Vartok must have a room full of soundtracks so it was funny to see your post before this one saying how many you had.
Some of my favorites are of course his Star Trek soundtracks (hard to pick a favorite out of those) and I really enjoy his Air Force One soundtrack. I also really like The Waltons theme as does my wife. We both also like that show.
I only own just a handful of his soundtracks so after finishing the podcast tonight I jumped on itunes and found this
https://itunes.apple.com/us/playlist/next-steps/id273838664?wm=2
You really need to check it out if you have itunes. 75 Jerry Goldsmith songs for $76.05!! Or buy them for 99 cents each! I think only one was $1.29. A lot of the soundtracks Vartok mentioned have tracks on this. They broke it down in 3 parts. 'The Basics', 'Next Steps', and 'Deep Cuts'. Those you can get for $25.05 each. I'm going to download Total Recall and probably more later.
Again great podcast, Vartok. Very enjoyable!
...but now I have the Walton's theme song stuck in me head. Damn you Vartok for infecting me with that ear worm! ;)
Brilliant episode as always expected from Mr V. Really informative and what a cracker of a tune to start the show off. Great stuff.

Sorry Bry - run to get it out of your system.
Vartok, you're a man after my own heart. You always dig deep on your musical subjects. I'm typing as I listen; couldn't wait to respond!
Wonderful exposé of a true musical hero. Gerry Goldsmith left us much too early. What a bold and enterprising (pun intended) composer. I love him for his courage to use electronic and non-traditional instruments in his pieces. Inspiring.
Thanks for this episode!
Just listened to the episode. Sorry so late. Excellent as always. I understand it is time consuming for you to do them, but they are a treat. I had no idea Jerry Goldsmith did the Waltons !
