Hi just got this game today for $9... pretty expensive for a rogue like (which you can often pick up free)... but it is polished.
Hard as nails so far - but fun. If you like and buy it, you can get it direct from them (so the devs will probably see more of the money) a drm free copy for Windows, Mac & Linux but you still get a steam key too.

Yes, I have my eyes set on this game. I really badly want it.
Spent *way* too many hours on this over the weekend, as my steam account would attest.
I just realised this whole post should be on the Gaming deck, not here in tech :-/
My interest is piqued. I'll have to give this one a whirl once I'm through with Gabriel Knight for next week's UMBCast.
If you do decide to buy it, get it from the author's website for the drm free copies and steam key :) http://www.ftlgame.com/ (http://www.ftlgame.com/)
Everybody is talking about this game at the moment. Sounds like to it's a lot of fun!
Yeah I watched the video last night and picked it up. Gonna play this weekend! Plus it runs on my macbook!
Just got this game gifted to me last night. First starship went two systems, ran into a pretty tough drone over a solar-flaring sun. I had fires on my ship, so I opened my doors to vent the oxygen, then the drone destroys my door control room. And my oxygen room. I was unable to repair the oxygen room in time. My crew died soon afterwards. X_x. But it was so much fun.
It is fun. Brutal but fun. I think I burned out on it a bit after playing it for so long. I get the impression that somethings are less algorithmic and lean towards pure random.
Did unlock one ship and another layout, both force you to play the game a bit differently.
I still haven't beat it (but know people who have). Has anyone here beaten it?
I'm "PaulECoyote" on Steam should anyone want to pad out their friends list.

I've beaten it twice....out of quite a few attempts. :P. Yeah, the ships are all designed with different playstyles in mind. And its more random than algorithmic, that's how rougelikes usually work anyway.
I'm waiting for the iPad version, seems perfect for touch controls.
