Well, color me surprised at this bit of news.

Steam has sold a movie on the service recently. Now, Valve seems to want to host everything from movies, music, games and now general productivity and creativity apps on the service. Well played Valve...well played. ;)

You didn't see that coming? That's why they aren't happy with MS because they have the same thing in 8

I was mostly being tongue-in-cheek, but I don't think it came out very well. *shrug*.

(Following paragraph right here is me reading between the lines here, nothing concrete has been said by Valve) Well of course Valve isn't happy with Microsoft pulling the same thing in 8. Valve has clashed with Microsoft several times on the Xbox 360, to the point that Valve has stopped updating Team Fortress 2 on the Xbox because it got too expensive to do. Something about incredibly costly prices to patch games. And now, to Valve's line of thought, they may have to experience the same/similar issues on Win 8.

Oh and then there is the whole competition thing I suppose, but I don't think that is the main source of Valve's problem with Windows 8. Considering that "hardcore" games won't likely be published on the Win 8 store due to rules that I've heard about recently involving said Win 8 store. Plus, Steam still offers features such as cross-platform play, support for older Windows OSes, the steam sales, etc, that the store never will. So no, I don't think competition is the main reason Valve is unhappy. At least if it is solely about competition, it just doesn't match up.

Granted, it may very well be due to competition. I'm not inside Gabe's head. I hear it is nice and warm in there this time of year. ;)
