Now HERE's something to get excited about
The sequel to X-Men: First Class has a full title, and anyone even passingly familiar with the X-Men comic mythos will recognize it as one of the most interesting and exciting storylines from Chris Claremont's epic run on the series, and one which forever changed the tone and tenor of the title. It's influence cannot be overstated and it's obviously still being felt today. I cannot WAIT to see this on film.

Yeah baby! Will we see....this?????
Probably not, but alternate X-Men future stuff? So much potential.
THE epic X-Men comic book storyline. I hope they do it justice!
Awesome news! I can still remembering reading that series of comics when they first came out so many years ago.
What blows me away is how these two issues in a long running comic series changed the direction and future of the book forever, some could argue even the whole Marvel Universe was influenced by it.
I still have those original issues too - in bags in my collection. :)
They're worth some cash Rico.
I have them as well. Not in mint condition, but still. They're the ones I read from way back when. I must've read these issues like 20 times.
I had them too but like Chris read them over and over again and eventually sold them along with the vast majority of my comics collection (except for my entire run of Cerebus) like 15 years ago
I have been watching the X-men movies and the extras on the Blu-rays. So far watched First Class and X-Men and most of the extras on the First Class disc. So I'm ready for a new one. Is it to early for a release date?
2014 is what was announced. There's a bunch of casting rumors, including Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman. The potential with this story is super exciting.
Woohoo!!! Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan CONFIRMED by the director's Twitter account! YES!

Hugh Jackman in Talks for X-Men: Days of Future Past

November 28, 2012
Although it should come as no big surprise, especially in light of yesterday's news, The Hollywood Reporter has now confirmed that Hugh Jackman is in talks to reprise his role as Wolverine in director Bryan Singer's upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Jackman would join a cast that has been confirmed to include James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart.
Scheduled for release on July 18, 2014, X-Men: Days of Future Past boasts a script by Simon Kinberg and is said to be inspired Chris Claremont and John Byrne's comic book storyline that ran in Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142 back in 1981. "Days of Future Past" introduced the idea of an alternate future for Marvel's mutants that grew out of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants killing an important senator, leading to a future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels.
In addition to playing a key role in the comic book version of the story, Wolverine has appeared in every live-action X-Men film to date and will star in his second solo adventure with the July 26 release The Wolverine.

Yeah, this one's on my radar. I'm a big fan of the original 2-part story from way back when. Now that they've added Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, and Shawn Ashmore....pretty cool. Kitty Pryde was THE lynchpin in that story, and I'm interested in how they merge the 60's storyline and the post X3 universe. Now that Bryan Singer is returning to the X-movies, I'm feeling like this is gonna be pretty damn cool. Loved First Class, and X2 was the pinnacle of superhero movies for its time. Can't wait!

I really enjoyed First Class and I am really looking foward to seeing how this turns out.
Already a thread for this movie - I'll merge them.
Looks like they are setting this film about 10 years after the last movie - in about 1973 or so.
Now officially in pre-production, X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer will be posting daily photos to his Twitter account to whet our appetites, but a casting call received by ComicBookMovie may have revealed something more newsworthy than a production photo of a possible set.
The casting call is looking for extras between "16-75" with a "1973 look" - which would place X-Men: Days of Future Past 10 years after Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class - which could explain why cast members like January Jones and Rose Byrne are unlikely to be returning.
During the press tour of X-Men: First Class, Vaughn said that he would love to set the First Class sequel in the 70s and it seems that even without him at the helm, they are following in his vision. He also said that he would have had the JFK assassination involved in some capacity - but the timings don't work out for that.
The casting call also says that "most of the movie is set in 1973" and that they will be required between "April 2013 and August 2013" in Montreal. This would suggest that the majority of the film would be focused on X-Men: First Class timelines with the original X-Men series in the cameo role.
X-Men: Days of Future Past will feature James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Nicholas Hoult (Beast) and Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), who return from X-Men: First Class to join X-Men alumni Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Anna Paquin (Rouge), Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde) and Shawn Ashmore (Iceman).
What do you think about X-Men: Days of Future Past being set in 1973?

Sounds good to me. I was wondering how First Class was going to turn out being set in the 60's and it was great.
Some cool news here. Peter Dinklage is joining this film's cast. No word on what character he might be playing. The one that comes to mind for me might be Puck of Alpha Flight.
Peter Dinklage is joining the cast of the new X-Men movie, Days of Future Past, according to director Bryan Singer. There's no word on who the Game of Thrones star will play.
"Officially like to welcome #PeterDinklage from #GameOfThrones to #XMEN #DaysofFuturePast Very very excited!" Singer tweeted Wednesday.

Awesome! I'd say Puck, or an alternate Wolverine who's short like in the comics! ;)
Cast so far....
This is going to be SO GOOD
They should bring Cyclops back from his ridiculous off-screen death in X3. At least we're getting Professor Patrick back. I heard that Bryan Singer wasn't too happy with the way things played out in The Last Stand.
He wasn't my favorite but I liked the Cyclops character in the movies. It does seem that there will be a ton of characters though. Is the movie going to be 3 hours long?
Bryan Singer tweeted a picture of Storm (Halle Berry) today..
Here's a picture of Iceman (Shawn Ashmore) with some tracking dots on his face.
These are all from @BryanSinger twitter account.
Patrick Stewart as Professor X (BTS)
Here's a look at Beast..
Kitty and Iceman look serious...
Some pics here of the new beast and Magneto.

A look at the future characters, who include Bishop, Cool. Also a look at the design of the Sentinel head.
Check out this for a teaser pic!
That looks like they are in the basement of the mansion. I wonder how they'll get doing Logan not recognising it in the first film.

Awesome new viral video from the new Xmen..
Can't tell 100% from this video but the Sentinel don't look as large as I remember them.

Oooh cool..."Advancing HUMAN Progress" very clever video. This movie is going to be goood
Cool video, but yeah Sentinels are normally much bigger. Maybe this is an early prototype.
Based on some images at this link, it looks like we will be seeing Sentinels of various sizes. Also, Peter Dinklage is pictured at the link too.

Peter Dinklage looks like my 10th grade chemistry teacher in this movie!
That pic of the Sentinel made me feel 10 years old again! Finally, the iconic XMEN goes on screen!
Bryan Singer just tweeted a picture of him standing next to a full size sentinels
Now, that looks great!
Sweeeeeet. So very excited. That picture of the sentinel standing behind president (getting sworn in it looks like) gives me the freakin' shivers!
Sentinel blueprint...
Looks likely freewheeling mutant days are over....
Sentinels! So cool.

Yes, she is! :)
I have high hopes for this movie. Such a great story to bring to life.
Can't wait, looks like a lot of divergence from the comics

FINALLY Patrick Stewart is starting to look his age! I thought he was a mutant.
This movie looks BOSS by the way. Use Hans Zimmer music in a trailer and you got me.
Looks like a blast. Seems to be diverging from the comic quite a bit when this story took place. One little thing about the trailer, but did they have to use the same music as the start of the Trek trailer?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAEkuVgt6Aw#ws (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAEkuVgt6Aw#ws)
Trailer looks great! Yeah, the recycling of trailer music is a blight on film!
My first reaction to the trailer was pretty mixed and was not excited by it but then i went back and watched it again and now i'm like oh hello this could really give something different than what we have been used to. Looking forward to this :)
An update about Rogue part. To bad they couldn't get it to work out. Anna Paquin would have been cool to see.
http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/12/20/x-men-days-future-past-rogue-anna-paquin/ (http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/12/20/x-men-days-future-past-rogue-anna-paquin/)
The character in the back is Quicksilver.
I wonder if they'll keep the fact that he's Magneto's son in the film. Wasn't there some kind of rights tug-of-war going on between the use of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in the X-Men and Avengers films?
They came to an agreement and the character will be in XMen as well as Avengers 2, though played by different actors. As far as their parentage goes I would bet that they won't be Magneto's kids in A2, but maybe in this film.
They should keep that fact the same for both films. It is all Marvel and people watching these movies certainly wouldn't care what studio is making it. And with the time difference in the movies I know they couldn't use the same actor but if I'm not mistaken the actor for A2 is also a younger man. I'll go check that out. If that is the case they should have used an older actor. Of course they are different Universes after all so I guess it doesn't make a difference.

It would also cause other issues since the films are made by rival companies.

I'm spoiler-phobic too. There are a few little things, but nothing major in my view. They do sort of explain how Wolverine gets moved through time in the movie which is kind of a new twist on time travel I thought.

This is looking like a brilliant film.
HOLY CRAP!!! This movie was INCREDIBLE!
There were a few plot-holes, but considering the huge mess the movie had to clean up, I think it did the job brilliantly! By the time the end-credits rolled, I found my eyes misting up with joy at the fact that THEY FIXED IT! Awesome surprise cameos, awesome and engaging story, and best of all, it felt like a real X-Men story! And the after-credits scene: PERFECT!
This was the most fun I've had at a movie in a long time. ;D
I just saw it too and really enjoyed it. Such a cool story to see realized on the big screen. I'll chat a little about it on the podcast this week more, but everyone did a terrific job on this film. Really loved the last 10 minutes or so. Go see this!
I saw this with the wife as I guess I do just about every movie I go to. I didn't know till after but my boss from work was there with his wife and they both enjoyed and after they were going to go see Godzilla. We both really enjoyed it and me probably a little more so. Really liked the actors showing up from the original movies and being a part of the story. Mostly enjoyed Jackman and Lawrence and I always liked Halle Berry's Storm. Really enjoyed the ending. Of course my wife liked a certain Hugh Jackman scene. This was her reaction. :jawdrop
Really liked the part where Magneto moved that stadium. Does anyone know what stadium that was supposed to be. Really loved the ending with all the original characters showing up. I always liked the Cyclops character and was waiting for him. Liked how they brought him in. And Kelsey Grammer as Beast! I could go on but I won't.
Go see this and I hope they don't wait forever for #3!
Part #3 ("Age of Apocalypse") is already set for 2016.
Superman v Batman, Cap 3 and an X-Men movie that year awesome. I'm going broke going to all these movies this year so looks like 2015 and 2016 will be the same way!
What a joy. This is probably the best X-Men (not Wolverine) film since X2. Lots going on here, but unlike other movies with multiple characters, it doesn't feel like anyone's getting short shrift. This is a TEAM movie, the "future" X-Men fighting the Sentinels was the best demonstration of super-team work yet on screen. Yep, I'm including Avengers. I LOVED Blink. Cool to see Bishop in action. The ending was great, and stay after the credits, of course. A tease for the next film. Bonus, John Ottman returns all the way back from X2 to do the score, so for the first time, an X-film has a returning theme. I was happy to hear it, it's a strong theme. Very happy...I think the X-Men are back on track and haven't been better represented yet.
I loved the music too - really worked well. And how about Quicksilver?! How awesome was he?!?!!
Quicksilver was freaking AWESOME! I went into the theater thinking he'd be my least favorite part of the film, and he turned out to be one of my favorite parts. His quirky fashion sense felt right for the character, and the casually aloof attitude seemed like a believable depiction of how a young Pietro might behave. Sure; he was a bit more lighthearted than the older, modern-day Quicksilver of the comics, but I can easily imagine this Quicksilver evolving into the bitterly arrogant Quicksilver of the present.
I don't think the following is too spoilery, but just to be safe:
The speed effects were incredible. That break-out scene has to be one of the coolest super-hero action scenes I've seen on film since EVER.
I was also tickled by the little nod to his possible relation to Magneto; the whole "Oh, my mother used to know a guy who could control metal." It was also great to see a sister. I was initially a little put-off by the age difference, since Wanda/Scarlet Witch is supposed to be his twin, but then I remembered the younger sister, Polaris.
I really, REALLY hope we see more Quicksilver in the next film. :)
just got back from seeing this with Amy, we both liked it. COOL movie.
Sounds like universal acclaim for this film. We'll check it out.
Had a day off work yesterday and took myself off to the flicks to see this. Loved it, great writing, directing and if course acting. Very emotional in parts especially James Mcavoy who can do no wrong. Fassbender, well come on he's the James Bond that I think we've missed.
My only question and I'm sure someone can fill me in, I thought old Prof X died, he floated in the air and went all dusty. Have I missed something.

There was a bit at the end of X-3 where his spirit/consciousness took up residence in the mindless husk of his twin brother, who was kept alive in a hospital by Moira MacTaggart. The only good thing about that little scene:
It allowed Xavier & the X-Men to carry on & eventually send Wolverine back to the past, where he altered history & prevented that entire movie, including Xavier's death, from ever happening. ;)
Wow, major Butterfly effect on that one.
did you say Butterfly Shrimp? mmmm.
Saw this yesterday and really enjoyed it! The story was complicated but I was able to follow, the action was great, that bit in the Pentagon kitchen was breathtaking, and the acting very solid.

Yes, I thought the kitchen scene was outstanding and so well done!!!
loved this film, managed to get out into the cinema for a very early morning screening and just sat there amazed. Great acting, loved the story. Mcavoy was brilliant and Fassbender really has the chops to play Bond in a future turn. :)
