Title: The making of Warcraft
Post by: billybob476 on July 26, 2012, 10:28:09 AM
Been posting this around, I can't get over how great this article is.

Patrick Wyatt, lead developer on the original Warcraft Orcs vs. Humans and former Blizzard exec is guest blogging at Kotaku. In this article, he discusses the original inspiration for the first Warcraft game, his initial experiences and challenges as the lone programmer on the project and so much more.

Very, very insightful read on the beginnings of a game series a lot of us have a long history with. Some great gems in here, like how he based the multi-unit selection (where you click and drag a box around more then 1 unit to select them) on CAD software he had worked with to design wine cellars for his dad's business.
