Did they say it was $5K somewhere?

That's what I read over at the RPF. They are all $5K, both movie Enterprises and the D. Not sure about the Kelvin but it will be close as well.

That doesn't make sense to me. The D doesn't seem to be studio scale. Also, the BSG Viper and the Serenity are not $5K. I think people are making a few assumptions. Until an official price comes out it's all speculation. I really don't see the D as a $5K ship.
Whew - I saw the pic and thought for a second it was down in your "Kirk cave"

Not yet! ;)
We had this same conversation before about the movie Enterprise! And I was right then and right now. These aren't studio scale, none of them are, the Enterprise you have from MR is 1/350 as is the Movie ship. This D will be a smaller scale but similar overall dimensions. They won't offer a fully lit ship that size with that display at a cheaper price, they will all be around $5k. The Serentiy was what, $2K and the Viper is small compared to these.
Here's the recent thread from the RPF. That D is 1/850 scale, it's as big and as well lit as the other Enterpises and that base is HUGE! $5K all day just like the other two.

Bryan, I'm glad you feel you are right. I just don't see this D anywhere near as complex or in the same caliber as my MR TOS Enterprise or the Abrams QMx Enterprise. It's not just the size it's also the complexity of the whole package. The Serenity is smaller, and has some complex lighting schemes as does the Viper too. For me at least the D is no where near a $5K price in value (as even you said above). Maybe that's the price they will end up charging but even for a die hard collector like me it's not worth it.

I agree considering the movie Enterprise is just a Polar Lights kits at heart. I think if you look at pics of the models with people in frame they sizes are relatively the same, so there is just as much plastic, lighting, effects, paint work, assembly work, base, ect. between them.
I just wish QMx (or some company) would realize there is a nice market out there for ships like this priced around $1-2K. That's a fair price in my view. I'd rather see a line of nice models in that price range and make them more affordable to more people. At $5K it's really pretty much beyond most collectors (except the ones featured on that new "Collection Intervention" TV series - lol).
I would think if the Edition Size is only 50, then it is going to be an expensive ship. I agree, if it is 5k, that is just to much. There is something about these Models that pictures do not capture. I must admit, I was never really captured with the MR Enterprise you have Rico, until I actually saw one on Display at a store a few years back and overwhelmed with how impressive it was. I have similar feeling about this one, it looks nice in pictures, but I think it is something I would need to see in person to really appreciate.

x1000. I don't see why they do these almost vanity pieces as opposed to a quality run of reasonably priced models. MR had a hit with their Enterprise and it was the right price point. $1500 for a sweet movie Enterprise display model would have me saying where do I send the check. Trekmodeler or one of the RPF guys will build one for $2500, but $5K is just silly.
