Some great prices on awesome games, $4.99 for Portal 2, $7.99 for Deus Ex 3, huge discounts on packages (like all of Ubisofts games for only $49.99...go get 'em Tim!) ;)
Updates happen frequently so it pays to keep checking throughout the duration of the sale. Also apparently the community gets to vote on what games go on sale next. cool stuff!
Yeah great sale! There's also quite a few older games in some of those packs. May stock up for the podcast!

See you in about three months, Rico.
The Binding of Isaac is about the only game on the front page I can recommend...though I haven't played it. I just know its a good game from what I've heard, though it does have some rather icky stuff going on. Sonic Generations is also pretty good from what I've heard but again, haven't played it.
Portal 2, Legend of Grimrock and Terraria from yesterday's sale are really worth a look. Played all three and they are fun.
Haha Joby...but no, don't buy Ubisoft ;).
Games to get that aren't featured on the front page:
AI War: Fleet Command and expansions are on sale and they are really good RTS single/co-op games. The AI in the game is very advanced and will kick your butt without cheating. Tidalis is a good puzzle game that's on sale for cheap. A Valley Without Wind is also on sale if your looking for a very different kind of platformer with some strategy and city building in it.
Do not get (from front page):
From Dust. Broken game on release and I don't think Ubsoft ever fixed it's problems.
I'll post more games to get as I see them :).
Wow - this Bethesda Collection is tempting.
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/15263/ (http://store.steampowered.com/sub/15263/)
So some good ones I can recommend from the front page today:
Orcs Must Die: Action Tower Defense game that is the best kind of fun and humor I've ever played. Easily my 2nd favorite of the genre.
Frozen Synapse. Though I haven't played much out of the game, it was still fun and on my to-do list to get back into.
Plants VS Zombies on the community choice sale. Very well done Tower Defense game, though it lacks replayability but the campaign and side games are fun enough and it has a fun style to it.
More recommendations:
Out of the front page sales:
A Valley Without Wind (In the Indie Bundle IV)
Superbrother's Sword and Sworcery, I just did a review of it this week here: http://kingisaaclinksr.wordpress.com/2012/07/13/my-review-superbrothers-sword-and-sworcery-ep/ (http://kingisaaclinksr.wordpress.com/2012/07/13/my-review-superbrothers-sword-and-sworcery-ep/)
Sanctum: FPS Action Tower Defense Game. It's a fun game, one I haven't finished yet, quite difficult but it looks great for a TD game and the mechanics are very sound. Very sci-fi too.
Trine 2, though I haven't played it yet, Trine 1 was quite good and the visuals in Trine 2 are drop dead gorgeous from what little I played of the demo.
Serious Sam 3, it's an FPS that is a throwback to FPS games of old. No cover, no regenerating health, just lots of shooting things.
Some of the other games look good, but I just haven't had a chance to try them out so I can't recommend them off hand.

From what I've heard it is pretty good too. :)
I played both episodes of Walking Dead and it's amazing. Very much like acutally playing and interacting with the comic book.
I bought "Skyrim" and "Orcs Must Die" so far. Lots of great deals - so tempting! :)
Hmm, I can't recommend any of the games on the front page today. Either unplayed or bad.
KOTOR is on there! Great game (if a bit old).

I haven't personally played KOTOR and I'm a bit untrusting of movie-licensed games as a general rule of thumb. That said, I haven't heard enough about it to say yay or nay about the game.
KOTOR directly inspired the gameplay of Mass Effect. Light/Dark points, ME style conversation trees, similar combat, etc. It's the style of gameplay with slightly older graphics and the same level of storytelling as the Mass Effect series.
In fact I should really be saying Mass Effect is like KOTOR since KOTOR came first.

Considering Bioware developed it, that isn't surprising. Hmm
Pre-EA Bioware no less :)

Haha I noticed that. I'll do a little digging around, see if it's worth my time. :)
And it's a thrilling, fantastic story, exciting, deep combat mechanics, and rich, full characters. I played it on the original Xbox and was hooked for probably 60+ hours seeing and doing everything possible. Take my word for it, well worth your time Tim.
Well, it's three recommendations so far so it's looking plausible :P
KOTOR and KOTOR 2 are classics!
So from today...
SpaceChem, although warning, it is really difficult.
Limbo, which I happened to do a review of recently: http://kingisaaclinksr.wordpress.com/2012/07/04/my-review-limbo/ (http://kingisaaclinksr.wordpress.com/2012/07/04/my-review-limbo/)
Do not get Stronghold 3. Just don't. badly designed and executed and was a great disappointment to me.
Also, is it just me or have we had way too many FPS shooters on the front page this sale?

I think that's just an indication of how many FPS shooters there are on the market these days.

How much is Limbo right now? I can't see the prices from work. Nice review btw, you should cross post some of those to the gaming page here for those too lazy to check your blog (guilty)

Well, then it's going to self-implode one of these days...
Oh I should add, get Train Simulator 2012. It is a very niche game, but it is well made and quite fun for train enthusiasts like myself, when I have the time to play it. (which is rare).

Haha, ok, I'll setup a thread later today :).
It's $2.49 in the US, outside it should be around the same price unless region pricing hoses you.
I keep meaning to get that, it's one of those games that sits in the back of my mind and I never actually get around to buying it. I love sim games (as you'll learn in this week's UMBCast). I love ridiculous realism and attention to detail that great sims offer.

Great price for one of the most interesting, original indie games ever made. Anyone who hasn't played it should pick this up now
Just bought the 7 dollar Train Sim pack!
From today's sale:
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat easily. I loved this game and wrote my review here. It is creepy, scary and a good storyline. It's also the least buggy of the franchise and well crafted. http://kingisaaclinksr.wordpress.com/2012/03/22/my-review-of-s-t-a-l-k-e-r-call-of-pripyat/ (http://kingisaaclinksr.wordpress.com/2012/03/22/my-review-of-s-t-a-l-k-e-r-call-of-pripyat/)
Super Meat Boy, very difficult, but controls are very tight if your into platforming.
I can't recommend Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion yet, I haven't played it enough, but from what I hear it's pretty fun and looks pretty.
Pretty good sales today
Just grabbed L.A. Noire for 5 bucks!

Just grabbed L.A. Noire for 5 bucks!
Wow! Great price, awesome game. Still have to finish that on my PS3
Yes LA Noire is great!
My wife downloaded the Age of Empires 3 collection for me for 10 bucks. Good deal, I love those games and haven't played that one.
So today...today I can suggest:
Amnesia: The Dark Descent. As long as you don't mind losing your sanity ;), I still have yet to play this beyond the demo (due to other games), but I hear it is quite the paranoia inducing game.
Plants VS Zombies, pretty sure I already recommended this though.
The rest I haven't played yet.
I got Amnesia through the last Humble Indie Bundle, but haven't played more than ten minutes or so...and already spooked. Love the sanity effects, reminds me of Eternal Darkness for the Gamecube.
From today's sale I would have to recommend:
Magicka: best game for killing your friends. Oh wait, there are other baddies in this game? ;). Game is a bit of an odd one.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution. This game is a lot of fun, though the animations on faces are a bit lacking. Still, multiple approaches to an objective and a great chat system gives this game quite a bit of replayability. *EDIT* Reviewed it tonight as well: http://kingisaaclinksr.wordpress.com/2012/07/20/my-review-deus-ex-human-revolution/ (http://kingisaaclinksr.wordpress.com/2012/07/20/my-review-deus-ex-human-revolution/)
I don't like any of the Indie Bundle games today, they are ok, don't really appeal to me.
So today, we have some interesting choices:
Beat Hazard is fun for what it is, I don't play it anymore, but I enjoyed the hours I put into it.
Bit.Trip Runner is just too hard for me to enjoy, but it is well made and has an a good soundtrack.
2nd hand knowledge:
I hear Eufloria is an interesting audiovisual experience
Quantum Conundrum...just not my favorite idea of fun, precision platforming in the first person experience seems like that could get frustrating fast. I watched some reviews/let's plays on this game, just didn't grab my attention. It does have a voice over by John "Q" de Lancie though, so you guys might find that appealing.
Batman Arkham City is apparently pretty good, I played Arkham Asylum and found it to be "ok".
Torchlight is also apparently pretty good.
I seem to recall that Fable III was considered awful. But I'm not 100% certain if this is the game I'm thinking of.
Pretty varied sale today though.
From today's sales:
Bastion I did a review of it, bit hack and slashy but a fun game with a unique narration: http://kingisaaclinksr.wordpress.com/2012/03/19/my-review-of-bastion/ (http://kingisaaclinksr.wordpress.com/2012/03/19/my-review-of-bastion/)
Psychonauts, if your into unusual adventure games with some platforming. I've played three hours so far and find it charming and fun.
2nd hand knowledge:
World of Goo, interesting game from what I heard.
SPAZ. From what others have said, its a fun top-down space combat game with a lot of content to chew on.
Do not get Hydrophobia. It has great water visual effects....and that's it.
