Post by: Rico on July 08, 2012, 11:54:34 AM
Covered this third season TOS episode this week on the podcast.  Also chatted about building my new PC, "The Amazing Spider-Man" and some Trek talk too.  Enjoy the show.

I liked the idea that this guy was originally a Roman Legionnaire through some kind of fluke became immortal.
LIke most guys, he still reverts to those comfortable cloths worn in high school. In his case that would be a cape and tights. :)

McCoy's diagnosis of Flint seemed an easy way to end this episode.
TNG could have retconed this story and had Flint move on to become Dr Noonian Soong.

An interesting idea that Flint could have become Soong.  Another thought could be Soong could have sought out Flint to learn from him.  I mention some of the parallels to Data related to this episode on the podcast.

Yeah, that would have been a very interesting tie-in to TOS...Maybe even have a version of Rayna show up in the future. Were there ever any novels that followed up on Flint?

Hi Rico, I just listen to the podcast the other night.  Great podcast!  I still remember seeing this episode when I was first watching Star Trek TOS  in the 70s when it was in syndication.  One things I remember the most is Spock examining all of Flints art works, my dad you was watching at the time meation that Vulcan's where not suppose to be emotional.  he point out  that appreciation fro the arts was a show of emition, well Spock was really investigating  Flint.  Also I do wander how intersting to live as long a Flint did.  I think that a person would get tired of living after a longtime.  I think it has been said that Immortality can be boring or exhausting.
