Title: Ghostbusters films fans!
Post by: Chief on October 16, 2006, 11:30:05 AM
Maybe one of the most beloved franchises ever is the Ghostbusters. I simply loved the movie because back in the day they were the first heroes I could ever see that faced the paranormal with science.

Egon Spengler was my favorite because he was all rational and logic. Pretty much like a Vulcan.

I've been doing some research about them because this Halloween I will make a Ghostbuster costume and I remembered how much I loved them.

Both movies were fun and I was a huge fan of the animated series.

So here's a little trivia for you guys. What's the name of a now famous sci fi and creator that worked for the Ghostbusters animated series? His episodes were the best.

Anyhow, are there GB fans in the house??

Ahhhh, Ghostbusters, what a film. To me, this movie epitomises the eighties. When it came out, we queued for ages to get in th e cinema, but it was worth it. The music also is unforgetable, Ray Parker Junior was played over and over again on my old deck. At school, I went through a phase of drawing the Ghostbusters emblem on almost anything I could. Terrific film and it was also when I fell in love with Sigourney Weaver. I couldn't quite believe this was the same girl who played macho bird Ripley in Alien. Make up is amazing ;)

J. Michael Straczynski.  He also did several episodes of He-Man and other cartoons.

They are talking about making a third film.  It would be a continuation of the first two movies, but in animated form.  This was done with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and it worked quite well.  I have high hopes for GB3, should the film get the green light.  :biggrin

I sort of agree CJLP. The Turtles film has done quite well, but I am a teenager of the eighties and I guess I don't want them messing with my childhood passions. The same applies with the Star Wars prequels. Perfect example of messing with perfection. The Original Trilogy was the epitomy of great Sci-Fi story telling and it bugs me that now, when talking about the impact of Star Wars on the history of cinema, we now have to consider three far inferior films also. Just leave Ghostbusters alone, especially if you cannot get hold of the original actors.

I did the same thing -drawing that logo on all my text book covers at school- This film does bring back many fond memories from the 80s for me as well.  One of my favourite movie quotes is "Whoa, whoa, whoa nice shooting Tex!"..Good stuff.

My favourite bit is when Bill Murray tinkles the piano keys and says "They hate this"
