Title: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Post by: ChrisMC on June 05, 2012, 03:01:11 PM
The sequel to Rise is coming in May 2014~ What a wait, but I'm really, really curious to see where they take their story. Is it going to advance in time a while, or continue Caesar's story? I don't consider Rise to be a true prequel to the original movies, more of a reboot a'la Abrams' Trek, so really, they can go anywhere.

I wonder if they have to pay Pierre Boule anything for these reboots?

A long wait but it should be worth it. 'Rise' was a great movie.

Is that the Golden Gate Bridge?

I think it's the Bay Bridge.

It is the Bay Bridge. Coincidently, I competed at the Escape From Alcatraz triathlon last week and swam in the bay and ran beneath the Golden Gate. :)

Here is where I started my swim, on a ferry parked next to this. Into 56 degree water. 1.5 miles.

How were the currents?  Always loved that movie Escape From Alcatraz.  We might go to San Fran for a family location this summer (if I can find some reasonable air fares).

So strong that you have to swim towards the shore immediately and get pushed down stream to Chrissy Park where you exit on the beach.

Here's the latest trailer for this film. Looks as good as the first prequel.

I have yet to see any of these newer incarnations.  I hear good things about this one - so will try to catch it in the theater.

Very cool movie and a must watch at the theater. The wife and I both enjoyed it with her rating it a 9 over my 8 rating. Trish said she would have given it a 10 but she didn't like the ending. Mostly because I think she just wanted it to keep going! It is so cool the things they can do nowadays. A couple of the parts actually gave me chills.

it was a great movie, very dark but so well done.  Nathan and I, with Amy and my daughter in law Kira went on the Thursday night showing.  It was a little long.. but as some have pointed out, any movie you start watching at 10pm seems long.  LOL.

GREAT special effects.  Fantastic acting and a pretty cool story line too.  Go see it on the big screen!!!

Can you see this movie without having seen the other earlier ones?

There was only one before this and from what I know a lot of time has passed between the films and I think you would be fine just seeing this one if you haven't seen the previous film.  The other one you might be thinking of was with Mark Wahlberg and has no connection to this series and is frankly best forgotten.

I saw the Markie Mark one - the only good thing about that one was Charlton Hestons cameo.. :)

Hey, just saw this movie today and it was very, very good.  Good story, solid acting, and the visuals and apes - unbelievable.  So impressive what they can do now.  A lot of emotion in this film too.  Go see it!
