Title: From the folks who brought you BSG & Trek...

If you missed model builder extraordinaire, Steve Neill's announcement...
There are rumblings in Hollywood about a retro space movie series being developed by the same writers, CGI, and the other creative artists who have brought you Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica.

Are the Studios heads behind this? - no.
Do the Networks executives support this? - no.
Do they ever listen to you? - not likely.

With the cancelation of BSG Blood&Chrome and no new Trek series, this was bound to happen.
The crews behind these shows are just as big of fans as we are and with new media options are no longer dependent on the Entertainment Corporations to continue their vision.
This is where you get involved - find out more about 'Space Command' who's behind it and how to get it done.

Another cool, Kickstarter project.  I may have to donate to this one too!

Since I started my podcast I can't help bu talk about all the cool kickstarter projects trying to recreate old video games. It's amazing what that one website has done for crowdfunding projects. This one seems really cool and I'm happy to see Doug Drexler on board. Could make for some awesome looking ships :)

TrekMovie.com featured this 'Space Command' story...

The previously teased new project "Space Command" has now launched their KickStarter campaign. The envisioned series of sci-fi films feature a number of Star Trek vets behind the camera and they have also announced a number of Trek actors who are also involved, including Armin Shimerman, George Takei, Ethan Phillips and Robert Picardo. Watch the intro video to learn more below.

Star Trek Vets Looking To Fans To Help Launch 'Space Command' Series

Space Command is a new series of science-fiction films and the brain-child of Marc Scott Zicree, a writer who worked on Star Trek: TNG & DS9, Sliders, and many other genre shows. He has also brought in Oscar and Emmy-winning designer Doug Drexler, another Trek and Battlestar vet, to head up the visual effects. And they have also announced that the cast could include Trek actors Armin Shimerman, Ethan Phillips, George Takei, and Robert Picardo, who would join  Doug Jones (Pans Labyrinth, Hellboy), Billy Mumy (Lost in Space, Babylon 5) and Rachel Luttrell (Stargate Atlantis). Also on board are Trek designer Mike Okuda and Emmy-winning TV screenwriter Michael Reeves (yet another Trek vet).

Good news on the Space Command - Kickstarter project.
They are closer to beginning production on the first movie, the script is completed and actors are being selected.

Now the big news as it appears in the latest dispatch to the backers from Marc Zicree.

"Just a few days ago, I had lunch with the spectacular MIRA FURLAN of LOST and BABYLON 5. She and I worked together on B5, and I've longed to work with her again ever since. Mira was thrilled to be invited to be part of SPACE COMMAND, and I'm currently designing a major role for her!"

If you haven't been to their site in a while, check-out the updated video.
Pretty exciting stuff!

Although I really like this idea it kind of bothers me that they are not actively updating their websites. The main website has broken image links on the main page. The Kickstarter site has not been updated since July. They are keeping current on their Facebook page and their blog so I guess that's something but you would hope on a project like this that the main website would be maintained better. I wish them well and hope we do see a great movie in 2013!

Space Command has the potential to be really really good or stupendously bad. I hope it's the former and not the latter.

Interesting list of names attached but the end sequence with the logo makes me cringe.
