The new podcast is now up featuring a new guest host voice - Mark Daniels (or M-5 on the forums). He covers the classic Disney SF film from 1979 called "The Black Hole." I think Mark does a great job for his first guest hosting gig and I'm sure everyone will enjoy the show. Thanks Mark for covering this classic for all of us!

Can't wait, I was a big fan of this movie when it came out. I had the Vincent and Maximilian action figures and models. Even built the model of the Cygnus!
downloaded onto phone, ready to listen. looking forward to it, saw it at the cinema.
ALREADY LISTENING! Awesome! Bringing back so many memories! I even had a cool comic book of this movie. Great job so far Mark!
Gosh, I had the comic book too!! :) I never saw this in the theatre, as I saw ST:TMP at about the same time(?). I am looking forward to hearing this during the coming week...will be listening to 381 first, though!!
yeah, Mark said that The Black Hole came out a couple of weeks after ST TMP

I always wanted a VINCENT but never got one. I think someone in the house had a Maximillion but I don't remember who.
Looking forward to this one but I'm still behind on my listening.
Nice review - I've listened to it twice.
I hadn't connected the John Barry score with the 'James Bond' movies.
Great job! Really enjoyed looking back on this one. Man, that dialogue was clunky. Very cool about the music, you can certainly catch that Bond vibe.
Thank you all for your kind words. I'm glad you all enjoyed it.
Yeah, some really cool music in this movie. Great job again Mark!
Yeah, loved this movie as a kid but it also creeped the hell out of me! Great review.
Amazingly, I have never seen nor heard of this movie. Seems like one of those 'so bad it's good' films to my uninitiated mind :)
Thanks for covering it!
Great Job Mark, enjoyed all the clips and your discussion. Been years since I have seen this movie, so want to go back and watch it again.
Great podcast Mark just finished listening and bought back some great memories. I always remember feeling really sad when Bob died. Great show :)
This was a great podcast on this great movie. I still remember seeing this movie when I was in my early to mid teens. I think my folks had a choice between Star Trek the Motion Picture and the Black Hole, I think we decided to see the Black Hole for some reason or another but would have loved to seen Star Trek the movie, I got my chance to see it latter on.
M-5, I was wondering if the Black Hole was a really big hit for dinesy or was it a flop? I believe you said it did allright in the box office but was not well received by critics. I always wondered who did the voices of the two robots and now I know. I wonder if they did a remake if David Tennet would do Vincent and Larry the Cable guy for Bob. lol. :D
one last thing I wanted to meation here is when I went to Disney Hollywood studies in Orlando, I saw a prop of the red robot Maximilian as a part of one the tours. It looked very neat but was small.
I really enjoyed the podcast. It brought back a lot of cool memories. I never saw it in the theater, but when I was a kid, I had one of those record player/ storybook things. I had one of "the Black Hole" and another of " Star Wars" and I remember playing them both over and over repeatedly.
Great podcast, I couldn't believe that Disney made this movie, this seems so far in left field its crazy.
King
I meant to comment on this podcast and had forgotten to do it. I just wanted to say it was fun going back to this great movie. I did see it in the theater also and like Chris-El it creeped me out. I think it was mostly that Maximillian robot. That was one scary robot. And the end when they were in the fire, scary! I did get to see this a few months back on Netflix when they had some Disney content. It was in HD also. It didn't scare me as much then though.

Yeah, when I was a kid that scene with Anthony Perkins getting food processed scared the hell outta me. Plus the end like you said with The eyes inside Maximillian's head.
The end was just wierd and I can't say I really got anything out of that part of the film when I saw it originally. I loved the rest of it, though, although it was particularly the robots that I went for. Having said that, while I enjoyed it, the rest of it struck me (even then, I think) as being just a little too adult for my childhood brain.
Have to echo everyone's words. What a great show! i had forgotten how good it was. i had watched it at the cinema and had the fotostory. i will have to rewatch it. Thanks for the reminder.
