We have a great, special guest cast this week with Joe (billybob) taking us through the animated "Battletech" TV series. Joe also talks about "The Old Republic" MMO as well as doing a book review. Great show Joe and I know everyone will like it a lot. Thanks for taking the time to do this for all of us.

Episode One of the "Battletech" series....
BattleTech Ep 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqzEssjkMeU#)
An interesting coincidence today. I'm currently looking around for a new (Kindle) book series to read. From the podcast, I'm guessing the 'Lost Fleet' could be it. I'll read most things but am interested in a little more detail on how 'heavy' the sci-fi is in this?
Depends what you mean, the author takes great pains to ensure his physics makes sense. Time dialation as you approach the speed of light, communications delays due to distances etc. there's very little "funny" science or shortcuts.
I think I'll give it a try if I can work out which book is the first one. Thanks for the recommendation.
The first book is dauntless.
Really enjoyed the Old Republic talk at the beginning of the show. I may have trouble playing MMOs myself, but I still really enjoy hearing about it and hearing about your experience in it. And hearing how Bioware has gotten so involved in constructing the universe and taking people deep into the mythos of Star Wars. So glad to hear it's proving to be a successful MMO.
I won't lie, the game does have some basic issues with its graphics engine and quite a few bugs, but that is pretty much par for the course with new MMOs. I feel they've set a new standard for storytelling in these games.
Great job, Joe! Not a show I would ever seek out but i enjoyed hearing you talk about it. I also liked your discussion of Old Republic. I want to get the game but I just don't think I am an MMORPG kind of guy. I really like FPS where it's quick and easy.
Thanks Bryan. I figured it was a show not many people had come across.
Brilliant podcast Joe, i really enjoyed it. I had no memory of this programme at all and now i want to seek it out. Nice work Joe. :D
Great job, Joe! I'd never heard of that show before. I like Mechs and political intrigue. Sounds like my kind of show. I'm very interested in the series of books you mentioned, The Lost Fleet. I'm currently listening to the Honor Harrington series of books. The Lost Fleet sounds like it would be right down my ally.
Thanks guys! I haven't read Honor Harrington myself yet (next on my list actually), but from what I understand they are quite similar.
Just listed to the podcast. good job billybob. I don't think I have ever heard of this show before. I think I might just this out on youtube. I quite sure this is a 80's style series. I could hear the syth music in the backgrown. lol.
Great Podcast Joe, had never seen this show before, but interesting to hear about it. Will keep it in mind and check it out some time. Great discussion on the other topics as well. Hopefully your Ski Trip is going well.
That was pretty cool! thanks for doing this podcast :cheers
Thanks guys!
As a little followup, it appears there is a 'premium free to play' online game coming out set in the BattleTech universe called MechWarrior online. I came across the trailer today
