Did you notice that it's not actually a Knight's game? I'm enjoying that they are going to open up the playing field for the online play.

Yeah it's called Star Wars: The Old Republic.

This is their new attempt at a "Star Wars" MMO game.  The trailer is totally awesome.  I hope the game is as much fun.

I've been watching for developments on this game for a while. I set a Google News Alert for "New Knights Of The Old Republic" a few years ago and kept hearing rumors and seeing leaked concept art for it. I think last year is when it was announced. But the new trailer looks so cool. I don't think I could play it without being a Jedi though. I just have to be one. :D

The first SW MMO is called "Star Wars: Galaxies."  I tried it for awhile.  It wasn't very Star Wars like.  They made some major changes to it eventually and it still has a small number of people playing.  I personally think a Star Wars MMO is a very hard thing to pull off.  The movies just don't lend themselves to this type of thing.  But we will see how this one comes out.

Star Trek: Online is suppose to come out early in 2010.  So it most likely will be out quite awhile before this new SW MMO.  So it will be easy to try it before the SW game.

Then again, I'd argue that Star Trek is even less suited to an MMO then star wars is.

???  Really??  We have ranks, Starfleet, various standard character roles (fighter, science, medic, engineer, etc.).  I think Trek is much more adaptable to an MMO than Star Wars - by far.

On that level, the same could be said about star wars. Jedi, rogue, fighters, assassins, bounty hunters.  Also, the level of combat violence seems to be higher in th wars than it is in trek. I think that it would lend itself better than Trek as an MMORPG.

having played several versions of both as a table top RPG, both have their high points, but Trek was about solving problems with your ships and your brains. In Star Wars, we had to deal with a lot of thing with our light sabers and blasters. If you are going to make a MMORPG that is similar to current game out there with fighting a necessary element to progressing, Star Wars would work much better. We don't see many running firefights in the trek universe.

It doesn't have to be all about fighting.  Missions of many type could give experience.  Not just by killing stuff.  Again, I disagree.  I think you are looking at it from a traditional computer MMO.  The reason Star Wars Galaxies failed is people didn't enjoy the advancement process.  You don't see that in the SW movies.  Luke goes from farmboy to Jedi Knight in about 6 hours.  People didn't want to spend days and days advancing in order to become a big time hero.  Anyway - my take on things.  I have played the SW - MMO, and the tabletop SW RPG game too.

I agree with Rico's last post. I HATE PVP (player vs player) because I always get beat within the first five seconds of combat...it's very frustrating and not at all fun to me. I'm just not good at that part of gaming. On my own, against a computer, sure I can do that...against a 13 year old who spends their summer playing the video game 24-7? Not so much.

I'd rather cooperate with other players to do missions that don't always involve fighting. And I imagined that the new Star Wars game would offer missions like that too. Like Peperdude, I'd only play one...and deciding will depend on which one I like better. I think I'm leaning more toward Star Trek though. Not only because I'd like to make a Captain Sevryll and Doctor Drett for my ship, but because of the types of missions the Star Trek universe offers.  :)

How about a more sobering look at the actual gameplay of SW:TOR MMO?

Star Wars: The Old Republic - Fate of the Galaxy Gameplay Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sfdlz9fCW9s#ws)

Call me jaded, but having two powerful development companies work on a MMO for years with millions of dollars in the budget, I just expected to be wowed by this trailer.  LucasArts and Bioware who have made the Force Unleased, Mass Effect 2 and other great games seem to have given us something that looks and feels mediocre by current MMO standards.  And we haven't even seen the UI yet.  It saddens me that this is the best they have come up with so far.  RIFT at least looked better to me.

Well, looks like they are trying to get this game out before the end of the year or maybe early 2012.  Read on:

During the same Electronic Arts investor call yesterday in which company CEO John Riccitiello discussed the release delay for Mass Effect 3, new insights were also offered on forthcoming release of another of the publisher's highly anticipated video games. Fans and Activision Blizzard both have been watching very closely for news of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Star Wars: The Old Republic. The former because it's a gaming community built around Star Wars and the former because SW:TOR is the most viable threat yet to World of Warcraft's undisputed dominance of the MMO market.

The latest EA earnings report, issued to investors as an accompaniment to the conference call, states that the game is set to launch "in the second half of calendar 2011″ (via GameSpot). EA Games president Frank Gibeau referred to The Old Republic launch as the "biggest event of the year." He wouldn't specify a more specific date or release window, claiming that the publisher doesn't want to "tip off the competition" and that more data is needed from the game's ongoing closed beta before a release can be officially set.

Company CFO Eric Brown also brought up SW:TOR, though his forecast makes mention of a possible later release, in 2012. "Although we fully anticipate launching Star Wars: The Old Republic [by the end of 2012], the low end of our guidance range assumes the outside possibility of a January launch," he said. Riccitiello was similarly cautious in his own statements. "The launch date, while in our fiscal year, is not yet certain" (via Joystiq). EA's fiscal year ends in March 2012, so it seems we can expect the MMO to arrive before or by then.

You know, Bioware should have just made movies.  Cinematics are all well and good, but I fear that so much work has gone into them rather than the game itself that the game will be so-so.  But we'll see!

Warning: These guys can sometimes get crude, and this episode will likely make you want to just give up living and just play The Old Republic.

I'm not sure what to think about this game...on the one hand its made by Bioware who have shown to make really good stories.  On the other hand, its controlled by EA who have been getting anti-consumer here lately.  Plus I have some doubts as to the actual gameplay, but really can't say much on that until the actual finished product is out, I can't even make a determination on the BETA as that is the point, its a BETA.

So I'm skeptical, but hopeful.

Did you listen to the Podcast Tim? Cause they talk about how awesome the storylines are. It's an MMO with a high end story, that you play through as a group. It's a highly social game with a good story. These guys aren't Bioware either (the Roosterteeth guys who've played it), they are game fanatics who are talking to a Bioware tester and how they talk about this brought back all my hope in the game.

Yeah, I know who Roosterteeth is :).  But no, didn't listen yet, would have to find some time to.  I'll probably still be skeptical despite listening to them.  Its mostly because of EA and their recent failings that gives me a lot of concern.  EA promises a lot and delivers very little.

But this is still Bioware we are talking about, EA may have a part, but they are more a distributor. Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and the two previous Knights of the Old Republic series have been amazing. It's the only gaming company I trust to not disappoint. Also really when you listen to the podcast you will understand what I'm talking about.

Dragon Age 2 was not very successful and got hit a lot for issues.  The recent Origin and Battlefield 3 debacle also has me concerned about this company.  And this game will be under Origin which I am currently opposed to.  I'm not even sure if I can get over my aversion to Origin even for Mass Effect 3.  I just don't know.

Your absolutely right that Bioware has had a lot of good success and Mass Effect 2 is my favorite game of all time.  But EA's push to be the new content distributor is causing them to cross lines I consider uncross-able by the gaming industry.  I don't mind competition, but strong-arming the consumer like this on the PC-platform is....well, unethical.

Yes, unethical companies stop me from buying games all the time, take a look at Ubisoft/Gameloft who is on my permabanned list for instituting their DRM-scheme.  I am not alone either.

But to bring this back around to Star Wars: KOTR MMO (whoops on tangent), I remain hopeful in its success.  The last Star Wars MMO fizzled out and died recently and STO has a questionable potential.  Even Eve Online is currently on a cascade-failure that looks to be killing the company.  I really want a good sci-fi MMO to play.  I really do.  So the question is, does EA & Bioware have that ability?  EA may be a content distributor, but they have control of the products they release so only time will tell.

Although I have to say this, the Special editions of this game are hideously overpriced.  Considering we have to pay a monthly fee on top of that $150 deal?  That ain't happening for me anyway.

I can say I will probably still wait to play this game when it comes out. I know I'm gonna be a busy at least till February and until I complete my assessment DVDs. So in that time the price may drop and maybe they will have a free version available. Either way eventually I'm excited to play it.

Well, I can safely say this is one of the most expensive games to come out in recent memory and I think its because they are banking on the Star Wars title to sell it.  Which is a safe bet and they will probably sell a ton of them.  A free version?....maybe.  I'm not sure because the Free-to-play VS Subscription fight is far from over on which is better.

I meant more like a trial version. And the price for the collector's edition maybe, but the actual game seems normal to me whenever I look at games. Guess the fact is they still will sell them and make more even if they sell less. I'll probably wait and see what happens. I still need to play Mass Effect 2 (when I get an X-Box I shall, that may not be a while though).

Oh, didn't know you could download it ahead.  I guess I should do that tonight!  :)

Yeah especially since it's 20 gigs!

How long did it take you to download it?  Even at a quick speed, 20 gig for me is probably 2-3 hours.
Title: Re: New Knights of the Old Republic game trailer!

It was probably around 4 hours for me, the download was averaging about 1.5 megs/second. I know some people were getting as high as 3 meg/sec.

I got a beta invite as well. I got it installed, just hoping my computer can handle it this weekend. If it can we should definitely group up.

Anyone who downloaded the client before today, it looks like there's an additional 250-ish meg patch to grab called "Main Assets 10".

If anyone else has signed up for the beta, it looks like there is a 100% chance you will be invited for the next and final testing weekend in the next few weeks:

A server stress test huh. I actually noticed that was what it was and was starting to wonder if that's why we three all got an invite. It could be interesting if the stress test proves insufficient and we crash the servers when they open up. I imagine if that happens it will be like a thousand voices crying out.

Guess that's what the testing is for. I'm going off to the gym again tonight, hopefully when I get back it will free up a bit. It could be a bit of a challenge to play it if it's this bad right now. Even if we do get on it may just be terrible lag, but you know I'd still try to play it.

So, I just played for maybe about an hour as a Twil'ek Jedi.  Pretty easy controls if you are used to MMO's.  Graphics look good and plays well on my PC.  The quests are more involved with some decisions to be made.  So far as first impressions go, I like it.

Title: Re: New Knights of the Old Republic game!

My computer could handle it to a degree. I could play, but hardly, too much freezing up. It was a bit intolerable or I probably would have tried to play it a little longer. Though I remembered why I don't really like MMOs too. I think this is a great MMO, but I just don't like MMOs. I want begin story and end story. I hope you guys really enjoy it. I may try to play some more later, but I'm done for the night, and I know I won't be playing the game when it does come out.

I also made a Jedi just to see what the staring stuff is like. BTW apparently we can't post screen shots according to the NDA (which at this point is a bit silly since thousands of people were invited to this beta).

Oh, yes I know about screenshots and the NDA.  But I mean really people - there is a TON of info out there on this game already - full video in game, pics, story/plot, etc.

Hey - how do you like all the interactive questing?  Do you think that will annoy WOW players who just want to "get to it?"

If it's like Mass Effect, you can skip right to the decision points by hitting the spacebar. If you want the "light side" answer it's generally 1, 2 is 'neutral' and 3 is the jerk answer.

I made a couple of other characters today.  A sith and a smuggler.  Both pretty fun.  Didn't play a long time on either.  I know I'll probably settle in on some Force type character like a Jedi or Sith.  The game is playing well on my PC.  One little thing I'm noticing is I get a little flicker at times during the video cutscenes, especially the intro stuff.  Not a big deal and it might be because I'm in Windowed mode, even though I run that at fullscreen of 1920 x 1200.  Anyway, the game seems pretty solid and polished right now to me.

I wish my computer could play it. It seemed fun, but combat was terrible for me. The interface just wasn't working at all with my computer. I probably would have played it more. But I can say I can't see myself playing it again after this anyway. It's just I can't get into MMOs. I'd rather play Knight of the Old Republic or Mass Effect.

Only 190? I was around 900 last night, some higher pop servers were in the thousands. The primary reason for this test weekend and the next are server load testing and I assume testing of the queue system for the upcoming launch.

Why would you want lifetime?  Not exactly a great investment idea considering how quickly MMOs can die off.  No, I really doubt any MMOs would offer that in good faith as it would mean that game would last at least 70 years...give or take.  Year subscriptions sure, but lifetimes?  No.  Even WoW won't last for much longer if my guess is right.  The problem is people move on, graphics get too old and companies change.

Lifetime subs are about equivalent in cost to 18 months of play time (at least that's what they were charging for Trek Online and Champions Online), around the 200-250 dollar mark.

Looks like beta invites for this weekend's play test have gone out! Apparently anyone who had signed up for beta it getting invited this weekend for a massive load test.

I've played games in their full version that had lots of issues on release (if they were tied to a server) so no, I didn't miss out.  It easily could have gone the other way.  And actually now that I remember I was away from my computer for Thanksgiving on Friday so I couldn't have tried it out anyway.  I'm just going to wait and see if this game gets released via Origin-only before I get my hopes up on it.

Apparently the way it works is you get early access based on the time that you registered your pre-order code. You'll get an email sometime this week on the day you'll be "let in" to the head start.

They are trying something different to ensure a smoother launch and less queues then we are used to in week 1 of most new MMOs.

Here's the full post on early access:

QuoteHello everyone,

We're happy to finally announce today that Early Game Access begins December 13th, 2011. This means that everyone who has pre-ordered Star Wars: The Old Republic and redeemed their pre-order code will have up to seven days to play the game early.

As before, when your Early Game Access begins will be determined based on when you redeemed your pre-order code. You will be emailed on the day you are being admitted to Early Game Access to confirm you can now access the game.

Early Game Access was extended to seven days to allow us to gradually ramp up the number of people in the game over a longer period. This allows us to ensure maximum stability and a good population across servers. It also allows us to have more flexibility on exactly how many people we admit per day.

With that said, we're still planning on allowing a large number of people into Early Game Access on a daily basis. In our final Beta Testing Weekends, we had hundreds of thousands of players on the game servers - and we have additional server capacity for launch. However, we still need to remain flexible during Early Game Access, and this led to the decision to notify people on the day that their Early Game Access begins.

We know many of you expected and wanted advance notice on Early Game Access, but we made this decision to ensure that we could remain flexible and react to unforseen issues during launch. Our number one priority has always been a smooth launch, so this decision was a necessity.

The good news is that effectively everyone is being given two 'extra bonus' days as the EGA program is now up to seven days long. The bad news is unfortunately we cannot let people know on an individual basis when they will gain access until we are ready.

We do understand that you are concerned about when you will receive the email. To save your F5 keys, as well as being notified by email, you will also be able to check the Launcher for Star Wars: The Old Republic. When you have been granted Early Game Access, your Play button will be enabled. (You will need to restart the Launcher on occasion if you're still grey.) Finally, you will be able to login to your account page here on SWTOR.com and check your status.

We absolutely understand (and appreciate!) everyone's eagerness to play, but this plan will ensure that we don't fall at the final hurdle - bringing people into the game at launch. We hope you'll bear with us as we gradually grant Early Game Access to everyone who pre-ordered.

I kind of feel like I shouldn't have bothered to preorder the game now since I thought I was going to get in like a week early.  Oh, well.

It's a bit of an odd system, though you're not really losing anything by pre-ordering. It's not as though you pay a premium for it. I have a feeling that by day 3 of head start they'll have most people in. Until recently the original head start was only 5 days, they extended it to 7. I only preordered about a month ago so I'm not sure when I'll get in either.

Yeah but I kind of like boxed copies.  The only reason I preordered (the digital download version) really was to get in to the game early.  Hmm, I wonder if I can cancel my preorder?

I've heard the single player experience is top notch in this game.  I wish I could play it.

If you had pre-ordered a boxed copy you would have received an early access code either way :)

My beloved guild (AIE) is deploying to the Keller's Void server, I'll be Sith initially but I'm sure I'll be rolling some Republic toons as well.

Here's more info on head start:

QuoteHey everyone, good morning and welcome to the first day of Early Game Access for Star Wars: The Old Republic!

We're granting access based solely on when people's pre-orders were redeemed, and we're going to be granting it in 'waves' - large batches of emails and game entitlements that will go out over the course of today (and tomorrow, and the next day, and so on).

I'll be updating this thread (and this post) as we send out more 'waves' of invites.

So far today, we have sent out two 'waves' of invites; we will be sending more later on, but I cannot be specific on timing. (Why? Because as we invite each wave, we monitor to see how servers are performing and so on. If everything is good, we'll send a 'wave' earlier; we in fact sent 'wave 2' ahead of schedule. So cross your fingers.)

Now, to the question you all have: when will you be invited? Well, I cannot be specific to individuals or even to dates, because again, we have to remain flexible. That said, I can talk a little about the pattern of pre-orders.

At the very beginning of pre-orders, which started on July 21st, we had a massive influx of pre-orders. A huge spike. After that, things settled down. As a result, today especially, you're going to see a fairly narrow band of dates from those admitted to Early Game Access. From tomorrow, it'll spread out to a wider date range.

That's about as specific as we're going to get right now. However, as we send more waves I'll update this thread/post with more information. Thanks for your patience - we know it's been a long road, but you'll be playing before too long.

Actually, it makes sense. They want to make the experience run fine for everyone and staggering the entry seems to be what's needed to allow people on without a ton of wait and without destroying the servers.

I think i got my access this morning..unless everyone got the email:

"You redeemed your Pre-Order Code and now are registered for the following items:

    Early Game Access
    Color Stone (Virtual Item)
    Download Game Client

You can now download the game client and gain early access to the game.

Don't play solo! Tell your friends you've pre-ordered Star Wars: The Old Republic on Facebook or Twitter!"

Too bad im working all day.

Also.. any recommendations on a gaming mouse? and are we doing group/guild play here?

Logitech mice are pretty good, I'm using a Microsoft one though atm, but I think they quit selling it a while back.

Agreed. It seems like a great idea from my outsider's perspective.

I've seen so much moaning about access on the launch of other games that a mechanism like this that works to alleviate the problem seems like a sensible precaution.

It's a no-win scenario, some people say they'd rather sit in queues and deal with server instability just so they can say they 'got into the game early. Those same people would be screaming bloody murder because "I bought this game and I can't even play it"  the moment they hit a queue or an emergency maintenance window.

That's the problem that I've noticed as well. That's second on my list of BS gripes. First on that list is complaining about problem with a beta. I know the concept might be new to some people, but I think after all this time, people should be aware that betas aren't for you to play or have something for free, but to report issues so that they can correct them in the final version.

I'm pretty sure that's why Vista failed. Too many people were in for having it first and didn't report any issues they had and skewed the reporting so that true issues and UI problems were drowned out by the silent majority.

I just don't think it was very clearly stated on the main preorder page.  Also, queues are to be expected at the start.  I also think just "staggering" people who are approved to play won't help that much.  Ultimately they will need to open the gates.  I know it's only for a few days, but it has certainly diminished the early access excitement I had for the game.

I guess it's tough, in reality early access is to build pre-orders and hype. By staggering it like this I agree it makes it a bit less interesting. Though I can't fault them for trying something different!

Here's today's announcement:

QuoteToday, we're inviting many more people to play The Old Republic - more than yesterday, and over a much greater time span.

As explained yesterday, our initial pre-order rush was over a very short span (about a week). Today we'll be inviting well beyond July, but again, we're remaining cautious as we send each email wave.

We're currently planning on sending four waves of email invites today of equal size. We're going to get them out as fast as we can, while monitoring player counts and server population. I'll update this thread when each wave is sent. You can also follow our official Twitter account for notification.

I ordered November 8th, so I don't think I'll be in today either.

I had the exact reverse problem that you had. I read the rules and figured that I'd want a physical copy, so I hit the links for retailers and they were all overseas and not in the US. That caused me to pass on the preorder because I did the digital thing with several MMORPGS before, but I wanted the goodies on this one.

I just don't know why they don't make a freaking Mac version.  Is the user base so small that we are just negligable money to a company like EA?  My iMac is more than powerful enough to run the game with no issues.  Why isn't there a native version?

There is no money in making a native version. If they did, they would have to make servers to handle the different code and you wouldn't be able to play with people on the PC. Kind of defeats the purpose. Then add to it the low numbers of people who use macs to seriously  game and the fact that you can run them in Boot Camp and you get zero reasons spend the time, money, or effort on a Mac version.

Having owned Macs in the past, I can say that it has always been an issue and one I don't see changing any time soon.

I'm pretty sure that it took years for them to put it on a Mac and that was only after it became affordable for them to seek out new customers. It also needed very specific Macs to be able to run it.

Here's today's post...looks like they will be inviting a greater number of people today then previously:

QuoteMorning everyone!

We're starting to send out more invites for today.

Here's the good news: overnight we decided to send out more invites than we had originally planned. However, we'll be spacing those invites out, which means we'll have more 'waves' than the previous four-per-day. We are inviting more people today than we did during yesterday.

I'll update this thread as we send invites. As a reminder, we're also updating our official Twitter accounts (@SWTOR, @SWTOR_FR and @SWTOR_DE) with the invites as they sent; that'll be more up-to-the-minute than this post.

For anyone who's not yet been invited, remember to have the email address no-reply@bioware.swtor.com in your address book so it doesn't hit spam filters.

Assuming you have the SWTOR client installed, you can also periodically launch it. If you're ready to go your 'play' button will be click-able.

Wave One was sent at 8AM CST (6AM PST / 9AM EST / 2PM GMT / 3PM CET).

Also.. I just spent the past weekend getting my PS3 controller hooked and configured to play this game.. and after much trial and error.. i got it working.. not quite perfect.. but it "feels" so much more natural to me than using a mouse.

My Sith inquisitor is at level 20 running around Balmorra and running space missions. Tons of fun! Love this game.

So the first major content update (ver 1.1) released today, new content and bug fixes!

QuoteToday we are releasing our first major Game Update, Rise of the Rakghouls. Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ has had a very successful launch, but we know our work has only begun. We want you, our fans, to know that we'll continue expanding and exploring the galaxy, ensuring it's a place where new adventures are constantly unfolding.

Both high and low level players will discover new content and game systems waiting for them in this Game Update. Our goal is to provide something exciting for every type of player in the game: PVP players, Flashpoint fans, Guild members, space combat aces and role-players.

This first Game Update will show everyone how serious we are about expanding Star Wars: The Old Republic, and there's much more to come. We have another major update planned for March and future content arriving throughout 2012 and 2013. We plan to release new Operations, Flashpoints, Warzones, Space Missions, single player content, vehicles, and companion characters. We'll always be improving our existing game with additions like guild banks, PVP ranked matches and interface customization. Our Legacy system expands in March, bringing more options and a new level of depth to the existing character classes.

Our Game Updates will also include bug fixes, balance changes, performance improvements and exploit-proofing based on your feedback. We review reports from the community every day and compare them to gameplay metrics, QA bugs and our own experiences in the live game—where we're playing right alongside you. Although we already address critical issues during our weekly updates, the major Game Updates will implement some of the most sweeping changes and fixes.

Expect a few surprises between these Game Updates, too. You never know when the Republic might strike Dromund Kaas, if a mysterious alien fleet could appear in the Core Worlds... or when the Rakghoul plague of Taris might infect the rest of the Galaxy. Changes are coming, and they'll affect everyone.

We fully intend to support Star Wars: The Old Republic—and our players—for many years to come.

James Ohlen
Game Director

There are defintiely some very vocal users in the customer support forums claiming performance issues. I haven't experienced many issues personally though.

Well, the stock had run up a pretty decent premium based on expectations for the game. Any shortfalls in sales will be material to EA's earnings.

Well, since my older son has pretty much taken over my first copy of this game I decided to give that one to him and buy a new account/game for myself.  Decided to go BIG this time and spring for the Collector's edition!

Yep - I will.  I just couldn't resist all the goodies.  I still think it's pricey compared to other previous collector editions, but the statue made it for me.  So, it's kind of back to square one in the game for me.  I only had a level 11 Jedi anyway.  Think I'll go the Jedi Counselor route this time for a little change.

Keller's Void! Good population (since Bioware dumped all us big guilds on it) so you tend to not have trouble finding groups for those heroic quests.

I got mine off Amazon.  The biggest perk of the collector's edition is the Darth Malgus statue.  If you are not interested in that it's probably not worth the extra $$.  The in-game goodies are fun, but are just cosmetic stuff mainly.

I guess it was the "new game" rush for the first month because I remember there being 90-100 players all the time ... and I assumed that was going to be normal for a long time. That's why it feels strange to me to see such a low a population (on my server) of players lately.

The free-to-play section of SW:TOR is too restricted for me to bother with. There are ways to restrict F2P players that make sense. EA went out of their way to restrict everything you do in the game to the point that its silly and a waste of time. You can't sprint. You can only use two quick-keys. And so many other restrictions. Just...why... It wouldn't kill EA to at least attempt to make their customers feel appreciated, but they seem hell-bent on making sure they aren't at this point.

Yes, I am noticing some restrictions...like only 5 medical revivals and then you have to buy more, no speeder skill. Kind of a bummer.
Title: Re: New Knights of the Old Republic game!

Well, I was on a tough mission and died a couple times...only to run out of medical probes, so I had to run ALL the way back. Not that big a deal really, but I have played other FTP games like STO and the difference isn't as in your face. Who cares, I play once a week and I like sabering things.

Ok, potential customer. Otherwise you wouldn't be playing the game in the first place. But I was also referring to the "preferred status" customers who are still restricted in what they can and cannot do.

http://www.swtor.com/free/features (http://www.swtor.com/free/features)

That list is ridiculous. You do not need to restrict that many features in order to get people to pay for the game. Even the "preferred" customers are restricted far more than I would consider fair. I've seen other successful F2P MMOs do a lot less restrictive methods on the free users. This really isn't a "free-to-play" MMO. This is more of a very restricted demo and I would recommend either subscribing to the game or moving to a different MMO. There are some really good ones out there.

I will post my character name this weekend...I can't remember it off the top of my head, otherwise I'd post it now. I have a Jedi and an Imperial Agent. They're not very high ranking and I'm having trouble getting through some of the boss fights alone. Would love to play with friends.
