This is a little late, he passed Saturday 7-19 at age 86.  :-[

What a cool guy, he played the best action comedy parts on TV (Rockford Files) and in movies ( Maverick).. always a reluctant hero.
He would have made an awesome starship Capt.

Great actor and seemed like a great guy.  He will be missed.
