Looks like there is an audio issue with at least 7 episodes in this set. I've seen it confirmed by several sources now. Seems to be in the DTS 7.1 mix, the centre audio channel has bled into the front channels or something. Looks like it is a mastering problem and not a production one as the pilot is one of the episodes affected but the preview disc didn't have the problem.

Anybody with high end Home Theatre amps might want to hold off for a reissue (if they ever bother doing one).

It's really kind of annoying that after all this time (almost a year since the announcement) that they could have let something like this kind of screw up occur. I'm seriously considering not opening mine and contacting Amazon for a return. I don't know how CBS can fix this big of an issue without replacing the whole set.

I'm not too worried about it.  If there is indeed an issue, CBS home video will do right by us and issue replacement sets.  Not an uncommon thing in the world of home video releases.

You mention the issue with the sound it looks like quite a few issues have been raised (over here) with discs freezing on certain episodes. I hope they fix that pretty soon because I love the look of these images and desperate to see all the extra material.

Australian sets have been recalled due to the sound issues and freezing on certain episodes. CBS have issued a statement saying they will be sending out replacements for discs 1, 3 and 4 free of charge elsewhere.

This means for me at least I will be holding off for the complete sets made good.

We have discovered an anomaly in the English 7.1 DTS Master Audio track in our Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 1 Blu-ray Box set. There are some episodes that inadvertently had their front channel designations incorrectly mapped, resulting in an undesired playback experience when listening to them in a 7.1 or 5.1 Surround Sound environment.

Really a bad way to start this Blu-Ray series off.  I'm going to look into this.  If I have to bother sending them the bad discs I'm just going to return my set to Amazon for a full refund.

Glad I held off on the Pre-Order. Once they get this sorted, I think I will end up buying these. Shame considering what a great job they did on marketing this release.
